The Amount of Time "Vacationing" is Actually Absurd

going radio silent for 3 weeks just after launch is wild

they dont even answer or help all the poor hacked peoples

have not expected such bad management from GGG but it is what it is

edit: i just hope they fix the "failed to create ressource for texture" crash soon... thread has 25+ pages and 30.000 views and still no answer from GGG

Never seen anything worse than Fatshark. They take more than 2 months each year, are slow at patching, and have spaghetti code that brings bugs back nearly every patch. Every one of their games ends up at 5k users after a year or two despite having amazing melee combat.

GGG did delay the game 3 weeks, putting them in this situation, but it might be fore the best so they can take a breather and realize that there are a dozen builds that just doze through the endgame and still get hit with one shot.

Wait for the next patch.

Hey don't talk about my boys like that Fatshark got back from summer vacation and pounded out so much content the past four months.. they come through... Just a lil slower. After all.. they're a fat shark.

While i dont agree with a lot of things here. It is odd that its framed this way.
Most companies take 24th-25th off and are back to work the 26th.

I don't know if I've ever worked for a company that allowed you to take vacation 2 weeks within a major holiday either. Maybe we're just slave drivers in America.

That being said a few weeks off for them, while it may suck for us, is not the end of the world.

[removed by Support] There's a mandatory 20 vacation days in New Zealand. I can imagine that they didn't have any vacation in the development of PoE2, so they HAVE to have vacation. Timing is bad, but it is what it is.

On the flipside the timing might be good because at least you got a beta instead of nothing at all, so people have something to play when they're also relaxing on their holidays. Christmas in particular tends to get boring after christmas dinner and kids having opened their presents.

So basically OP is saying they should have postponed the early access until after the holidays. OP surely would have been the first one to complain about that, since he can't play during the holidays. Now that he can, he complains about an EA game being EA. Classic.

Play something else for a while.
PoE2 is amazing, but not finished.

Publishers like EA or Ubisoft shit out games in a worse state on launch and then need a week plus to get it somewhat stable – and you expect more from an early access title published by a smaller team right before the holidays.
Kids these days

We need to keep bumping this thread so it's the first thing they see when they come back and can just be like, "Oh look, our first forum ban of the new year!"

We have those legal mandatory vacations days here too but that doesn't mean they have to be taken from the whole team at the same time. I would have preferred they took them in a rotating way, so that there would be always at least a part of the team active on board.

In my job for example there is always a ban on taking time off (aside of national holiday days) for longer than 1 or 2 days at a time between December and February because it is the busiest part of the year for us. So my main vacation times are April/May and August.

Releasing a new game (even if it is EA) would count for me as busiest time of the year for me as a game producing company, so I really understand some of the complaints. But they made the decision to do it like they did it, so nothing we can do about it than wait.

With PoE 2 GGG chose, much like many game companies do, to use hype marketing as their primary strategy.

Now, on one hand, this can be extremely effective, but on the other hand, its major downside is that it's extremely volatile.

Fail to meet the expectations you create and amplify with the hype, and the backlash is going to be intense. This is something you simply accept when you choose this approach.

So, in this specific case, GGG has been selling supporter packs in PoE 1 for months, years even, saying, "This finances PoE 2! It's going to be great! You'll love it! We're making this game for you! We couldn't do it without you! Get excited; it's coming! etc. etc."

But the problem this creates is that by the time the game actually releases, everyone that's been following it this whole time, and fully bought into the hype is edged to the absolute limit.

So if the game then doesn't deliver what they want, they're incredibly pissed off.

But again, I want to emphasize that this is an inherent component of this marketing strategy that GGG chose to use. It's virtually inevitable. So if a company chooses this strategy, they don't really get to complain too much if it blows up in their face.

You can't have it both ways. You can't say that it's OK to extract money from people by deliberately creating expectations but then also turn around and tell those same people that they're being entitled for having those expectations.

I agree some of it is to blame with the marketing strategy I guess. Like I have issues with the game (a lot actually which is why I've stopped playing atm) but Im not that upset because it aint a launch. It's EA. Sadly the marketing seems to have destroyed that expectation
One cannot help but wonder how such a lust for loot can affect a persons mind. Although these exiles appear to be our salvation, it would not take much for them to turn on us as easily as they fight gods and demons.
GGG has a break every year for Christmas. Certainly this is not the first time.

After the no doubt extensive overtime and hard work getting the client bug fixed and patched including a fairly extensive patch with 0.1.0e, (not to mention all the pre-launch work getting the code out the door) I dont see why the team should not get the vacation they deserve.

The same as last year and the year before. So much so I would say it is common knowledge, though of course, not everyone would know or bother to remember.

I, for one, will be glad to see the new work and revived dedication and vigor upon the team's return. Having had time to rest, relax, and recharge will, I am guessing, also bring forth new and better ideas for improvements and fixes.

Thank you GGG one and all and please enjoy your rest and recouperation time.
