GGG desperately trying to reinvent the wheel and ending up with a square.

I find it fascinating that you seem to expect the player numbers to nosedive when (if) PoE 2 gets leagues, and yet your conclusion is "the players are the problem" and not "the league system is the problem".

"We made a league and all our players left, Steve." "Damn those players, John."

Players leave when they run out of things to do.

Leagues introduce new things to do.

It isn't that leagues make players leave. It's that they temporarily bring back players who already left and bring in a few more, who then leave until the next league.

Without leagues, those players would just leave forever.
From all things to change the last is league system.

Please elaborate about the "no based in reality" part , i am curious .

Are you playing this game or just finished acts? Like ask anybody.

Why would he ask anyone else to elaborate on what you said? Obviously you had something in mind when you said that, and it doesn't sound like he's disagreeing. He just wants to know what you're talking about. So he asked.

I'm also curious what you're referring to.

It's 100% launch hype. Game is new and shiny and launching 6 months after D4 (as opposed to a year and a half after D3) as a sequel to a game that built up a player base of 200k+.

Moving those goalposts much? The claim was PoE 2 is not more popular than PoE1's most popular league. That claim is demonstrably false.

Even if PoE's current player numbers are artifially inflated (considering that they fall into standard progression, they seem to not be), that means more people are hyped for PoE 2's launch than ever were for PoE1's most successful time. And weeks later, after the usual falloff - they still are.

Probably because half the players still haven't made it out of act 2 normal

No one made that claim, that was your strawman because you have no argument against the truth we are telling you:

PoE2 will not be as popular as PoE as a long term seasonal game. Not without massive changes to the core systems its built upon.

It is completely irrelevant how many players PoE2's launch had, since nearly all of them are flavor of the month one playthrough gamers.

I don't know there is so much to say I will hit limit. Jonathan Interview with Ziz about scaling rewards min-max from ~year ago. It's ridiculous honestly.

"POE2 is more popular in week 3 than any POE1 league ever"
Most stupid thing you ever said. No it isn't.

Yeah, no totally, I invented that Strawman, did I do it by hacking this guys account and posting his posts for him? Oh wait - that was your post.

As for this:

So? The important part is they're still playing. If that was true, it means there are still more people enjoying and most importantly playing PoE 2's act 2 normal than ever got as far as Brutus in PoE 1 (fun fact that - kill Brutus is at 50,6% completion).

Why do you keep pretending like you dont understand what people are talking about? Yes, PoE2 is not as popular as PoE and it literally can not become that popular the way the game is.

All those hundreds of thousands of PoE players are permanent players who return every 3 months for years, a decade even. Maybe a few percent of PoE2's player count are such players, almost all are flavor of the month players.

Stop embarrassing yourself.

No one made that claim, that was your strawman because you have no argument against the truth we are telling you:

Sure you did, you directly said "no its not" [more popular] and then listed a reason why its not more popular despite being factually more popular because you think your stated justification for the higher popularity is the same thing as not being more popular.

You don't just get to choose your facts and disallow others because you can describe why they are facts.

I'm curious because you appear to not have played this league and are trying to diminish "flavor of the month" players, so I looked. Its looks like you've played a couple leagues in like 4 years... Odd playtime investment if you think POE1 is what POE2 should aspire to be wouldn't you say?

Especially when returning players keep being mentioned as the barometer of success. POE1 doesn't seem like it succeeded with you if I'm being honest.

Its interesting that POE1 is so good that you barely play it and yet you want POE2 to be a graphical upgrade and revert to that because you cherish that gameplay SOOOOOO much... so much that you only play it occasionally.

I dunno it feels like your motives might be more about not wanting change than POE1's compelling gameplay loop.

Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years.
