Low Skill POE1 veterans are trying to ruin POE2. GGG please commit to your vision.
Good lord, those so called "PoE1 skilled vets" are unbearably toxic.
They cannot even understand how great is PoE2 as a game, or how fun it is. Everything they need is to zoom through a map spamming one single button from a copied-pasted build with gear bought on the market. No original thought, no actually skill or game understanding, no actually will to get challenged, with the attention span if a tik-tok. The entitlment is surreal. They want everychars to start with 8 ascendency points, total free respec in case of patch, no punitive death like map loss or XP loss, and to be able to play perma t16 without any risks involved. Seriously, PoE2 IS a different game, stop comparing it to the first one, it's designed to be punitive and slower, you don't have to play it if you strugle ; you can always go cookie-cutting on the first one (or d4 for that matter). It maybe keeping the same name, engine, some similar cool mecanics, but is MEANT to be a different game and to be played differently, in a way which really refreshing for old school arpg lovers. Those people act like they know what is an arpg only because of PoE1 design, which was actually quite unique in its genre and its approach to "meaning", "rewards" and "feeling of success", while a video game can approach those in different ways, which PoE2 does amazingly. If you play -any- game, you do that for fun. Fun is often -progression- (personnal: "gitting gud" ; & virtual: "getting level&gear") and -reaching goals-. Both progression and goals are presented to the players in the game with stories, zones, items and bosses, but also (sadly) through comparative experience with other games or through medias like streams or youtube ; giving those impatient entitled players the thought that the only way to have fun is to play "X build" in "Y maps" in less than "Z seconds" or else their fun is not validated. It's insane. They can't even enjoy anything. Playing though the acts is great. Working the way through the Atlas is tedious and takes longer. Guess what : that's a sign of increased difficulty. Yes, having patience and repeating farms is a form of difficulty, even if you don't agree with it. You can't always have everything given to you in the instant. You are a old PoE1 vets loving to zoom through maps in one button press ? Well, maybe this game isn't for you, and that's fine. You are a casual dad that want to relax after work ? Well, maybe this game isn't for you, and that's fine. None of you HAVE to play it. You can if you want, but it's going to kick your ass every now and then. And gameplay and progression will be slow. And that's fine. But between the gamers that love the game even if it's giving them pain sometimes - and the gamers hating the game but still playing it because of social pressure of some sort ; Good lord, I know which side I prefer. Seriously, stop comparing the two games as if they HAD to be the same experience. They are different takes of a similar genre ; and I surely like PoE2's experience more. |

" Let's pretend you are right, how is that relevant to better combat? Perhaps you have a good explanation for that? "Sigh"

" Zero supporter packs. Are you going to fund GGG going forward? With your new found love for POE2? |

I love topics like this where people who have 0 investment come tell veterans they should just shut up and stop complaining. People who literaly funded your game by supporting it every league.
Yet miss the point this isnt a 1 playtrough type of game and poe2 funds will dry up with attitudes like this. Last edited by S95Sedan#6997 on Dec 21, 2024, 6:42:52 PM

"So because the combat is a little better (discussable really) we should ignore how everything else is worse? And btw combat is better until you start running into glaring design issues like isometric view along with dodge roll, you dodge roll an on death effect (wich the game is full of them, some barely visible especially with all the shit flying on the screen and 100 mobs running at you) just to get stuck in the exact same place because a small peeble is in the way that isnt even visible in this prespective, so you eat the full on death effect die in one shot (not even in elden ring or souls games you die in 1 shot, the best fight ever in a souls game was nameless king and it was an attrition fight), now you lost 10% xp, lost all the investment in your map, lost the waystone and lost the will to play, skill issue? See, can you see behing the shiny new graphics? And this is just one of the many things the game does wrong, most of the times you do not get punished because you played abit worse, you get punished just because. Youre level 52 btw, you shouldnt even discuss the state of the game, im lvl 92, atempted multiple pinnacle bosses, have over 150 divines in gear, i´ve been grinding the endgame for a while, the campaign is a cakewalk, especially after they fixed the trash droprates at start, so theres 2 options, you gonna quit the game when you finhis the campaign or gonna make a new character, or you gonna feel a heavy dose of shame when you start grinding the endgame and start seeing all the glaring issues with the game. And again, the game is not hard or "methodical" as you guys keep claiming, it´s just shallow, theres no player agency and every mechanic or system was dumbed down so crayon eaters could enjoy the game. If actual dedicated players who have reached the endgame and accomplished some feats would like to discuss trhe state of the game i would be 100% up for it, but discussing it with people who barely did anything worthy in the game is a waste of time, you have no idea. " You need to just shut up and stop complaining. I have more internet points than you, so now you have to listen to me. |

Very high skilled PoE1 player here.
I got into PoE2 because I got tired of how easy PoE1 was. The hardest part about PoE1 was lag in 1000+ mob density. I am very glad that they are moving further away from PoE1 in PoE2. |

" 1 level 90 Blood Mage, 1 level 82 Deadeye. Slamming pinnacles. Max ascendancy on both. Trialmaster on Bloodmage, Zarokh on Deadeye. Arbiter dead. You're forgetting that this is a beta. "endgame is shallow", no shit. It's a beta. Do you have any idea how much is coming? You paid for a 0.1 version of the game to play it and test it *early*. Or you were given a key for free, like me, because of your support on PoE1 on the past. 0.1 Jesus christ you act like they promised you everything in the world at 0.1 beta launch. " Oh come on it's still the same BS after acts. There are builds that put PoE1 to shame, but even some of the off-meta builds are basically hold RMB to win all over again. The only difference is that we have way less options. Well ok sometimes it's press two buttons to win. Which doesn't really add anything to the game, it's still just muscle memory. |
