Why does the "fanbase" of this game refuse to let other people have fun with it???

"
By accessible you mean a FINISHED GAME.
POE wasn't more than 3 acts for 3 years and wasn't to 5 for 6 years and 10 for 8 years.

It literally made you recycle the content 4 times, and was filled with bugs, horrible graphics, and 1 shot damage scaling. Furthermore, it was filled with Item Quantity, and the markets absolutely glutted with items. Of course it didn't have a huge concurrent player base: IT WAS UNFINISHED, UGLY, AND PRODUCED FOR FREE. Marketing is a bish when you are a free game. Pure Donor is hardcore funding.

It also had a horrible game engine for about 7 years.

You're comparing apples to oranges.

Despite all of this, which is pretty much true, POE1 was more fun back in those days than POE2 is now. POE2 is a beautiful game in many ways, but I don't enjoy it in its current form. If it continues in this state, I sincerely hope GGG keeps their promise to keep supporting POE1 and releasing POE1 leagues.

Difficulty Options exist in POE. Don't throw a fit.
The reality is that Standard doesn't lose XP, and except in a few boss fights, is extremely friendly to button mashing.

Oh cool can I do maps on Standard difficulty

Yes. Atlas is always part of Standard core. What isn't is the seasonal 3 month leagues they will introduce. Those don't go to standard until after they are reviewed to keep or forget.

The endgame already has 16 tiers of difficulty, how many more do you need?

You confuse endgame tiers of maps with the difficulty as a whole...

The difficulty as a whole as it is right now is so fucked up that you CANNOT build a face-tank class... at all!!! Take all the tanking nodes in the skill tree if you want, you're still getting one shot if you don't dodge roll...

That makes no sense...

endgame tiers exist because all games need to up the difficulty the more you play... but the base difficulty is NOT the same as that

Different mechanics completely and you're very very confused... sorry my friend...

Makes no sense that you shouldnt beable to face tank mechanics designed for you to not stand in.

Well thats an opinion for sure.

You could have stopped there :D Yeah, they're litteraly actively trying to kill the game they pretend to love. Based on the general level of these interactions, my conclusion is we are actually dealing with stupid people. Now I just roll my eyes and move on, or laugh and post a reply when there's a special specimen :p

The thing is though that if you don't actively show these delusional, tone-deaf devs that these screaming lunatics are NOT a viable player base to build their game around we will never have a PoE2 we can enjoy and honestly it would be a shame cause this game has a ton of potential if only GGG take their heads out of their asses and realize that the "Asmongolds" of this world are NOT a good market demographic to target...

I mean Kripparrian, probably the most hardcore, elite MF-er playing ARPGs out there made a whole video about this game being too Ruthless FOR HIM!!!

When these lunatics that scream "don't make it easy" hit endgame all their hopes and dreams will shatter in an instant... they have NO IDEA what kind of a wake up call they're in for...

If Kripp can't get to at least level 85 easily then normal players are SCREWED!!!

Fanboying a streamer who frequently gives up doesn't really help your argument. Kripp sells on winning. He likes the game, but he isn't winning, and that's okay. That's actually going to keep him around streaming more than 2 weeks and abandoning the game, like he always does.

Stop fanboying. It suggests you get your builds from Youtube instead of self experiment.

I'm not fanboying... grow a brain!!!

I accept that someone that plays a game 150 hours within the first week and has been no-lifing ARPGs for 15+ years is and will always be better at them than me...

I used to be a semi-pro player at FIFA back in 2013-2015... I was in the top 0.1% worldwide (top 1500 players worldwide)... but I acknowledge that if the game catered ONLY to me and top players and had ONLY full manual as an option (back then most top players we're playing Full manual) the game would be extremely fun FOR ME but it would be unplayable for 98% of the playerbase...

So OF COURSE I would never suggest that... Why would I want everyone to have a bad time so that I am happy? Which by the way I was happy anyway, cause they played with the assists on and I was playing full manual anyway at Division 1 with the other top players...

Games should be fun for players of all kinds of skill levels... kicking people out cause they're not "Skilled enough" is both a stupid idea and essentially you're a dick!!!

We all give our opinions, because we want our vision to stick out. Nowadays, with the advent of the internet, no one cares to be polite or considerate, since the anonymity blankets you. Thus, everyone delivers their take while trying to desperately shat on everyone else. That's what you're seeing.

Personally, I think its extremely immature for people to get so easily offended and be so readily toxic... but this is the truth of the current state of our nation and possibly the entire online planet.

People will say a lot and they'll say it loudly. REST ASSURED that GGG will have the final say. Take solace in this, OP.

How am I trying to make my "vision" of the game stick??? All I'm asking for is for the game to have accessible modes for all players so all visions can be catered towards instead of sticking with the devs current vision of catering towards ONLY the most hardcore and masochistic players out there...

I'm literally saying they should keep this vision alive while ALSO allowing normal casual chill players to enjoy the game!!!

Face tanking has always been a playstyle in ALL ARPGs... even Diablo 2 by the way... and I'm not saying face tank everything but here you can't face tank ANYTHING... you build a tank and you still dodge roll around ALL THE TIME!!1

The game won't be catered to your vision, what's so hard to understand about that?

It's that GGG's vision doesn't cater to what you want and you're not going to get it.

So, them catering to more than one playerbase is a bad thing then, right?

Wow... [Removed by Support] you want people to be kicked out of your "hardcore" game...

Well, all exclusively hardcore games have TINY playerbases btw... ALL OF THEM!!!

Well, then they better get used to having 5k players playing the game

Guys I think OP is onto something. Get ready for 5000 people playing

So... can PoE2 survive this?

Yes.

Not to be too facetious, but the agita over the current forum/reddit freakout is just way too overblown. Half a million people are playing the game, and having fun with the game, right now. If it's not for you, then it's not for you, and that's OK. It's not any kind of existential crisis for PoE2, or for GGG. Both will be fine.

As will PoE1, BTW. The other game is going to get more content, starting with a new league in the new year. GGG aren't killing it; they made PoE2 a different and separate game for a reason, and you now have hand-on experience with that reason.

Are some things a little over-tuned, or over-tightened? Yes, of course, But they've still got half the game to add, and lots time to make necsessary adjustments. Just don't be expecting a massive pace and difficulty shift in a 3.x PoE1 direction to be the shape of that adjustment.
Living the Hollow Palm life, and loving it. Stay sane, exiles!
