Why does the "fanbase" of this game refuse to let other people have fun with it???
I keep hearing people tell me "this game is not for you, leave!!!"
This is the STUPIDEST thing anyone can say if they want their game to survive for a long time... "oh don't make the game easier for the whiners...", "Oh, we want an easier game, this is not fun..." Well, WHY THE F*** CAN'T BOTH SIDES HAVE FUN LIKE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN IN VIDEO GAMES FOR F***ING DECADES???? How are they going to balance all the different kinds of players playing this game? Well... they need to do it the same way games have been doing it for 30+ goddamn years... DIFFICULTY LEVELS!!!! Why do we all have to play on the same difficulty? Someone explain to me why the f*** do I (someone that wants to chill and have fun theory crafting builds) need to play on the same tedious level with some dude that wants the game to play a top down Elden Ring and dodge roll all day while sweating? Sorry but Devil May Cry and Doom are some of the hardest games on earth... ON THE MAX DIFFICULTY... but they're also some of most fun and casual games on earth on normal difficulty!!! Why do games need to be one singular experience for all players??? Because Souls games do it? Well, Souls game might be popular with a very niche crowd but they also are deeply hated by a huge population due to their absolutely tedious and time wasting gameplay... typically a souls game has a campaign that in a non-souls game would take 5-10 hours going through it but due to it's gameplay style of "die and try again" that campaign lasts 4 times as long if not more for most people.... Also why do we need games to be a "skill level check" and why does the only skill in the game are reflexes? I mean in PoE2 being able to dodge roll everything is more important than ANYTHING else... your build doesn't even matter compared to your dodge roll... Sorry but if this game doesn't have a standard mode that is casual friendly and chill and a Ruthless mode that is what we have now then this game will have a very very niche crowd because it's HUGELY time wasting... Finally, they wanted a "Souls-Like" game for PoE2 (which is deeply stupid for a looter ARPG) but they apparently they don't understand looter ARPGs (despite making one for 10 years now) and they certainly don't understand Souls games... in souls games if you die nobody gives a shit, nothing happens... you just try again... in PoE2 if you die in endgame you're SCREWED... you lose the map node and if you die 5-6 times in a row your character is done and it's not playable at all anymore... so they made a "die and try again game" where it punishes you for dying?!?!?!?!?!? I mean, make that make sense... someone ask Jonathan cause I highly doubt their IQ in there since this is a simple elementary school level deduction... Finally even when you put up with the tedious nonsense of the game (the constant dodge rolling, the one shots, the tediously HUGE enemy HP bars etc) the game is hugely unrewarding since you NEVER find a good piece of loot... all the gear you have you "craft" them (or rather gamble on them) yourself... if you find a godly tier piece of loot on the floor every 50 hours or so then you almost never get excited... 95% of the the excitement in looter ARPGs comes from having a godly piece of gear drop for you out of nowhere and this piece might even make you change your whole build because "it's too good" and you start thinking how to use it... by making us craft everything we pre-determine what stat's we're looking for so we don't even consider the possibilities... it's essentially a job and not a game... you have your KPIs and you're working towards them... Anyway, the thing is that in this game every time I die I shut down the game because I'm not willing to put up with the bullshit that comes after that death... this is NOT a long term game that most people can play for 5-10 years... sorry, it just isn't... this is a quick-success/quick-drop off kind of game because people think they are "challenging themselves" right now but how many will go for a 2nd playthrough of this tediousness (let alone a 10th or 20th playthrough)? I ask this... in February Monster Hunter Wilds is going to release... THE most hugely anticipated looter/crafting dodge-roll based ARPG in the world by a mile... and with the decisions of GGG devs PoE2 has made Monster Hunter a competitor... you REALLY think that PoE2 can compete with Monster Hunter in terms of Action RPG combat fun and polish? Cause no... it can't... it falls short just like every other game because Monster Hunter is BY FAR the most polished, fun and rewarding Action combat RPG experience in the world (and anyone that says Elden Ring is better you need your eyes checked... Monster Hunter has waaaaaay better and more polished combat with better combos, way better dodge roll i-frames precision and fluidity)... and to top it all off Monster Hunter is a long term game, not a one time playthrough... people sink THOUSANDS of hours in Monster Hunter (and I plan to do so too, but that's besides the point)... and the most obvious problem of PoE2 is that it's not REWARDING playing it... it's a dodge roll based game but while I LOVE Monster Hunter I loathe the tediousness of PoE2... so no, it's not a skill issue and it's not because I can't dodge roll... So... can PoE2 survive this? Because now PoE2 has made enemies out of games that normally wouldn't be even remotely interesting for the loyal player base of PoE1 fanatics... Since you know... it has substance and points that the "git gud" armies can't refute... Whatever... player base of this game will shrink massively in a month when most casual players will get tired of getting whipped by GGG every time they make a mistake... |
