Remove the support gem limit

They need more gems, they don't need to allow you to socket two of the game gem. The game is balanced around not doing that, and your choices become much more meaningful as a result.

I don't want another game where we just slap the same meta gems on every single skill.

Poe1 had 13 years of success with this feature and it was never a problem. it created no balancing issues what so ever and there were thousands of build options because of it.

The difference is that in PoE 1 you have limited skill slots. If you could use the same support gems in different skills every character would run with almost every stat-relevant skill maxed out.
Please DONT Remove the support gem limit. its GREAT

id love to have penalties for each support gem more that gets equipped.

on area of effect? fine.
secondary gem? effect * -25%
by the same logic, we should only be allowed one piece of equipment with life on it, otherwise every piece of item will just have life on it because its so over powered and every build will just be spamming life on armour.

Instead of allowing multiple copies of same support gem, I wish they would rework and buff other gems so that there will be more viable options.

Because the reason why people want to use duplicate gems is very simple - is because a handful of those support gems are actually strong/useful, while others are just adding little to nothing.

I really hope that they are closely tracking the usage of gems and collect metrics on which ones are ignored by players. And I do hope that instead of nerfing the popular ones - they will actually buff the weak ones and make them more attractive.

Allowing duplicates is very simple, but this way you will have a few gems which are strong and used by everybody, but the rest 90% of gems are complete trash and never used. So this is not the great solution to the problem by allowing duplication - you will not fix the problem of dead weight gems being completely useless or too weak.
There is no downside to removing the limit. they've already balanced it by adding a stat requirement to socket x amount of that stat colours gems. theres always going to be more popular options, you cant have powerful gems if there arent weak ones. otherwise everything would just be as powerful and it wouldnt matter what you socketed, because everythings been over "balanced". this is literally the same as saying "i want to dual wield but i only want 1 of my weapons to have increased % added phys, otherwise every item will just go for increased added phys %" so what? its the best option for a majority of builds. thing is, there might be someone who wants both weapons to attack super fast and by your logic you think that it promotes creativity by forcing you to find alternative solutions? The alternative option is to scrap that build idea because its not possible. Leading to very few viable build options.

+1

Let us go crazy with our builds :D
I disagree, people would just spam generic damage increase supports leading to even less diversity than we have now.
How is it any different to spamming the same mods on all of your items?

There's no support gem limit. The fact you can't equip the SAME gem multiple times is common sense. I have no idea why it worked the way it worked on the original game but be happy you have it there because it will never come back in this game, and for very good reasons.
