I am worried that GGG might listen to the whiny "game too difficult :(" crowd
" I agree with the message of this. I also genuinely don't understand why PoE1 fans want PoE2 to be PoE1 instead. There already is PoE1, you can always go back to that, why can't you enjoy PoE2 for being the different thing it is and appreciate the variety? |

" Yeah, and made a video highlighting 7 huge issues with the game. ---- Some people act like this early access of PoE 2 is "a perfect game", and react hostile to any feedback from players wanting to make it better. It isn't perfect. It has some glaring issues both when it comes to level design, loot balance, class balance and character progression. The difficulty and the pace are both OK. There was never a point in making a sequel if they didn't make it different to PoE 1. That said: A lot of players are blaming the difficulty because they aren't given the tools to overcome it in terms of loot and/or currency, which I totally understand. A lot of players are blaming the pace of the game because they aren't given the tools to make combat feel smooth it terms of loot and/or currency. Finally: It should be "illegal" to defend anything about the game if players have only played one class, because everyone knows that they can have a TOTALLY different experience based on their class, their skills, their gearing requirements and their synergy with bosses/trash. The differences here are the size of the pacific ocean. (PS: This rant wasn't directed at you directly, but at some participants in this debate) Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile. " Yeah at the risk of being provocative towards the zoomers; they don't want variety. I mean intrinsically they play POE1 in a way that has almost no variety. Might be controversial statement and maybe I'm an asshole for saying it: but wanting to 1 button and zoom through 200 maps a night without recognizing or needing to recognize a single monster type, combat move, threat, or anything that a monster does is NOT a description of someone who relishes gaming variety. Its a description of someone who relishes extremely repetitive trivial tasks that loosely resemble gaming. Maybe I'm going too hard with this take, but I've ALREADY sat through POE1 being ruined by the clear speed meta zoomers, I'll be damned if I'm not going to push back hard when they come gunning for this game as well. Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years. |

" But I disagree. The combination of - usable gear drops - disenchantable blue / yellow drops - orb drops to craft affixes on whites and blues is sufficient to progress without much difficulty. I know it, because I'm doing it. " It's 3-4 days post release. We'd all be jailed. Last edited by Fae_Lyth#6750 on Dec 9, 2024, 6:59:54 PM

Our money and feedback should be counted just as much as yours. As a gamer with joint issues in my hands the game is to hard. Too much having to dodge, mouse and keyboard feels sluggish(Can't use WASD due to hand issues and controller feels like crap).
Personally make 2 difficulties, one that has no one shots and boss health is reduced with no leaderboards or achievements. And one with how the game is currently with leaderboards and achievements. That way those of us who helped support the game through an EA purchase can have fun with the game too. Last edited by Kahless#6091 on Dec 9, 2024, 7:03:53 PM

Personally i think the "game bad/hard" crowd is so split to what the actual problem is.
For some it seems to be the pacing, which yeah is subjective and totally fine if not all enjoy it. For some it seems to be the amount of loot/recources. And i think depending on your drop luck/ crafting luck you can get into a position where you struggle to get really good gear to breeze through the content. (Thats why personally i like to trade in 1-2 exalts for a good intem instead of using way more to gamble to get one and maybe get unlucky and "waste" the currency.) But to those claiming that the bosses are way too overtuned/impossible etc... I simply cant get it. A good build/items surely makes a really big difference when it comes to how "easy" one can defeat a boss. But so far they all feel quite possible to me. (Main is a minion witch currently "act 4" and i have a sorc on act 3 and a ranger on act 1) Since i cannot watch how the people who complain about boss dificulty play i can only assume they go in expecting a quick fight and dont play it safe enough and get hit over and over or fail to dodge the bigger attacks. (And yeah the better the gear the less one has to worry about boss mechanics/ shorter fight is less time to fuck up dodging over and over.) GGG will probably tweak things about the game. Its to be expected. But personally i hope it will stay in the realm of getting more builds viable and maybe tune the drops a little so players have more chances at getting better gear. Changing the boss difficulty through flat out nerfing them would be the wrong move in my opinion. But at the end of the day its GGG's decision. And i think both sides should accept what they decide to do. Because they have a vision for the game. And when we as the player dont like it we are free to voice our opinions. But to demand them to cater to it is... entitled. Also everyone who is currently complaining/giving feedback in the forum should understand that they are the loud minority. with 500k+ players in the game a few houndred/thousand in the forum who either want the game to stay the same or want it to change are not the majority of the playerbase. And to assume that the rest of the playerbase share your opinions is not smart. All we can see is if out opinions align with others on the forum or people we talked to. Not the thousands and thousands of other players. They could all find the game too hard. Or too easy. Or just perfect. And we dont know. So talking like you are backed by the majority of the playerbase to get an argument across is not helping your point. Whatever that point might be. tldr: personally i like the game mostly as is. Its fine if you dont. its fine if you do. voicing opinions is fine. demanding stuff from ggg wont make things change/stay. And "validating" your opinions on "the playerbase at large thinks that" is dishonest af because you dont know. |

" As much as I sympathise: I get motion sickness easily and suffer from migraines. FPS are impossible to play for me because I am physically unable to play them without running to the toilet every 30 seconds and throwing up. Happens. Not everything is for everyone. And yes, I wish I could hop into a round of CoD with friends. I could go into the Call of Duty forums and demand they make it into a 3rd person game, ideally top-down, so I can play it without throwing up. I don't. I focus on the things I can and do enjoy instead. And if I did, the CoD community would rightfully be upset at me and defend their game. |

" I'm also "doing it", but unlike you, I know it's more to this than just "my experience". A guy in my guild dropped 20 exalts by the end of act 2. I dropped 2. I also dropped enough rares during act 2 to make ONE regal orb (that's ~10 rares during one act, where none were usable for my character). If that's "sufficient" for character progression, we just have to agree to disagree. And I'm sure you've played several characters which makes you know how easy it is to gear one character versus all others, and how gear dependent they all are. All I'm saying here, is that there are giant leaps between one experience to another. You can recognize and understand this, or you can ignore it. I don't really mind, because there's nothing as demotivating as debating with someone who "can't see further than their own nose", as we say in my country :) Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
