we knew poe 2 isn't made for poe 1 audiences, why are you complaining? why the hell would they make 2 games for the same people LOL

Because they got us to pay for it? =9[.]9=

?? how

if you spent 10 minutes to research poe 2 you'd know exactly what to expect from the game. this is exactly what was promised by GGG and I hope they ignore all the feedback on these forums and reddit

Supporter packs. At Exilecon 1, Chris outlined a clear vision of PoE 2 as an expansion to PoE, something players of that game (perhaps even yourself included?) looked forward to. I spent prolly a couple thousand USD between then and Exilecon 2, at which event four years later Chris spilled beans it turned out could have been spilled only a year after the initial announcement, that PoE 2 was gonna be a separate game after all. Since then, GGG has definitely missed out on a couple thousand MORE bucks as I went full embargo on any further spending on their "game(s)."

So, yeah, money I spent to contribute to the development of a game I enjoyed (still do, so far) went toward this steaming Deuce. It borders on fraud, frankly, and definitely shattered any trust I had for the devs. ='[.]'=

GGG.... A Grinding Gear Game without the gear.
ARPG.... An Action RPG without the action.

That's how it felt to me. But people are taking 3 shifts to defend the current state of the game 24/7, so i did what was suggested to me quite smugly. I uninstalled. I'll follow the boards and patch notes and will give it a second try if major changes are implemented. Once the hype is over and the usual streamers get paid to advertise the next game, we shall see if PoE 2 is what the masses wanted or if it drove them away.

They will go away, im 100% sure of it, ive seen it happen with other games, same whiteknight defending bad decisions, those games ended up dieing and this one will too, and if they dont change it way before that it will be too late for me and i will quit PoE and GGG all together.
Been around for over 12 years btw.

yeah, I remember it now that you said it, that's a good point and I'd feel the same way. thankfully I stopped supporting GGG quite a while ago and didn't have to pay for poe 2 early access

Stop thinking of it as an ARPG too I guess.

But it's decidedly an ARPG game. If you played Diablo 1, you'd understand it perfectly.

I did play D1 back in the day. Extensively. And there were always chances to go back, farm some decent loot to advance the character. Here? No loot. Nothing useful, even if you repeat zones several times. The dodge mechanic is clunky.

I am aware that this is EA. Meaning feedback is needed, this is not a finished product. So all of you, who try to shoot down comments and critisism might consider, that this development phase is exactly for that: getting feedback from the community.

If they ignore it they will have a small player base. The hype will die down in a week or so then reality will set in.

No they won't, you're the vocal minority and hopefully they will not listen to you. The fact that we've already seen many nerfs but zero buffs kinda proves this

Millions of people quit PoE 1 after opening the passive tree for the first time, did GGG care or change it?

Its 2024 game development takes a lot of money and you need a big player base for a game like this.

many gamers no longer have time to invest in a game like this. They can keep it the same but it caters to a very small minority, it will fail.

Basic math tells us it's more profitable to sell 1000 of cheapest 10 buck copies than one "grand" $500 package.

Whales can never beat profits generated by simple popularity.

then why was poe 1 successful? poe 1 is more difficult than poe 2 for the most part.

It's early access currently, so i'm not giving up on the game yet, but hoo boy does it need a lot of work.

The way the game currently is will push away new players, and over time push away casual players as well. All they'll be left with is the 0.1% of players that are able to no-life the game like streamers and the unemployed.

The main introduction to the game itself, the campaign, is way too overtuned. Almost every bossfight is a slog to get through unless you spent hours grinding the same zone for no loot whatsoever.

But hey, i'm so glad they decided to nerf one of the skill combos that made clearing those lootless zones somewhat enjoyable. Good job there.
You guys have to consider that you are probably not "Half the player base".

Also, there is a HUGE amount of new players that love the game very much. There's also a huge amount of players (Like me) who really liked PoE in theory, though could never really get into it due to the gameplay, but enjoy PoE2 a lot because of the different gameplay.

I mean, ofc it needs some polish. And I agree with some things people complain about, at least to a certain extent. But its EA, they will polish the game. However, they hopefully won't change their core design philosophy for the game. And if that design is not for you, there's always PoE1 you know.

You can love it, but the masses won’t play it as its gear towards a very select type of player from start to finish. Soul’s people won’t play it because they have souls’ games, ARPG players won’t play it because it’s not fast enough

You mean, those 580K of concurrent steam players won't play it?
Sure, okay.

Last Epoch beaten PoE 1 numbers on steam with less advertising, i said the game needed changes on their subreddit, people jumped on me like youre doing now, go check how good is Last Epoch doing now, ye not that good hum? Guess what? as soon as the hype dies the game will dies with it, in it´s current state i give it less than a month for it to have less than 100k people playing it, and will only go down from there.
But ye, keep blindly defending, youre helping killing the game.
Ive been playing PoE1 for over 12 years and im on Maps in PoE2 atm (wich still feels trash af and unrewarding), just so you know im not a 2 hours a week casual.
