So. i can not defeat Geonor
" Not so much as a skill issue but most likely a timing issue. The red circle doesn't give you much time, but just enough to take a step or two THEN roll out of it. And if that is killing you from full health then you need more defenses. It took me 5 or 6 tries on my level 17 Sorc to beat him, and when I finally did, I had alomst full health and half flask charges. My advice is to take a step back and look at the main issue you're having in the fight, focus on that and try to fix it. Then do the same for the next biggest issue. Eventually you'll get it. |

The boss fights are insanely overtuned, and seem to only cater to the tryhard PoE1 players that have 10K+ hours in the game. I really hope they rebalance and fine tune the game before release. Onboarding new players with what's currently there is not going to happen. It is very unwelcoming.

Just one shot him with minion build witch. Always stay on the move is the key, as when the red circle appears you are already moving from the center of it. Move, then dodge, and you're ok.
Adds phase: I run around in small circles, basically timing the boss attack myself as it's rhythmic, he does the charge attack every several seconds. My witch so far hasn't died once and I just one shot the act 2 first boss as well. Geonor was the hardest fight so far sure, but I barely had to heal, finished the fight with almost full health flask. So the game is hard but nowhere near brutal for a Souls veteran. Wish I'd recorded the fight but got a screenshot. Have only mediocre gear as well. 0 uniques so far, half rare, half blues. Minions dead half the time isn't a deal breaker, as witch I still had 2 DoTs and a curse, these skills did the most damage. Last edited by z3mcneil#3966 on Dec 9, 2024, 12:05:42 PM

" I agree. On a Caster class (Merc, Witch, Sorc) it's easier, because you don't have worry about being to close, but the Warrior which has to be close, there are too many bosses with PBAoE attacks that will affect you, either with a drain effect (Like burning) or a slow/stun (Freeze or just Stun). The Monk has long range 'melee' skills to help avoid that in early game, though. |

Idk, it took me like 10 tries on my monk. Boss is awesome, the most enjoyable fight in the game.
I really don't get why ppl struggle with it. Mb there is some kind of a bug when this boss gets more HP and damage than it should for some players? Really odd. I didn't craft any cold res gear. I did nothing special. And cruel version was piece of cake, even disappointed that fight was so easy. Its bad that ppl who enjoyed the fight won't come here to tell it, because they are not frustrated and have no motivation to post on forums. |

If GGG looks at their internal statistics and sees that the majority of players are still in Act 1 and/or have quit the game because of this, they will adjust the difficulty or introduce a difficulty setting.
As it is, it is boring (Path of Dodges), very repetitive, and not fun at all. Do it for multiple characters, maybe if no other game to play, for each season? NO THANKS Yes, I know, skill ... or not. Give us the stats, as there are no achievements in Steam to get some stats. PS: The rest of the game and the mobs in general are OK, but the bosses are not. That's an impressive feat, actually.
HCSSF is the only way.

This fight is awesome! I don't know why, but during the ice circle phase when he was charging and keep talking, I had Michael Jakson's Thriller song in my mind! I was even vibing !
Joke aside! I died 12 times to him, I had only 1 death prior to that! but it was my fault! The golden rule for boss fight is: - avoid being one shot (Defense, HP, resistance ...) - respect the mechanics - increase your DPS to shorten the encouter, before your flasks run out and because a mistake will always end up happening! For me the last point was bad! I had a very bad build! I screwed with my spirit gem and didn't take the raging spirits! And yes this fight is hard! It has so little room for errors! for exemple the red cricle ability happen so fast! you need to keep watching the boss, when he vanish in the air you start moving! But after that, once in act2 and after a few more struggles I was able to buy a new spirit gem and fixed my build, now I'm having a blast! playing with fire is so satisfying! I must certainly be a little pyromaniac! In short, don't give up! victory earned this way is a lot more satisfying! go watch some videos or read some builds to get some hints ! But still, I congratulate you OP for trying to do this boss by yourself and not asking someone else to do it for you! Last edited by MinD128#6494 on Dec 9, 2024, 2:01:47 PM

After I initially gave up yesterday, I went back today with Warrior to grind for some gem levels and gear. Respected all the points I previously put into hp regen into plain damage. Kept checking the vendor for a better weapons and cold resist gear. After about 3 hours I managed to find some of the upgrades I needed. This time I killed the boss, first try, before he even did the mist phase once. I was in shock how much of a difference it made.
I used Earthquake, Bone shatter and normal attack, each at level 5, with 2 support gems each. 48% cold resist. (Was looking for a cold resist ring, and cold resist runes, but never found them.) The way I see it, for someone of my "skill" level, I was able to get to the boss way before I was ready for it. But thing is I did not skip or run past anything, I fully cleared each map up to there once, but I also did not go back any repeat anything to get the right gear I needed for this fight. However I am still not quite happy with this situation, sure this is a dps check, but nothing in game told me that, and I was just happy to push forward as it felt normal to do, but ran into this frustrating wall. P.S. to all those that mentioned my damage was to low, you are quite right. But how should I know how much damage I need before attempting a boss?
