So. i can not defeat Geonor

When you see a zone on the ground, it generally means "get out of that".
After taking damage, drink a potion with 1 to heal up.
Hope this helps. ♥
I killed him last night on a fresh monk after 4 and a half hours with just default staff attack and occasionally using the bell. Then falling thunder for the adds. It just takes time to learn the mechanics and how to dodge them. This was my fourth kill of the boss and I did it first try on this character (13 totak. This is not poe1 with good graphics, it's a completely different game. You have to learn the telegraphs to dodge the attacks. The big red aoe is really easy. When he disappears, stop attacking so you're not slowed, start moving and then only dodge when it will get you out of it. You're slowed after a dodge.
I agree that the fight is a bit... too much.

Playing as a monk and it seems I just deal no damage. Yellow quarterstaff, skills on lvl 4, level 17 character.

Avoiding some of the skills is easy while some, mostly the one with lights/spikes all over in 3-4 waves have annoyingly weird hitboxes. Not just that but the boss feels more like a sponge. I get that it needs to be challenging, but I was hoping for a mechanical difficulty rather than having to go through the fog+mobs six times to die to weird hit box to freeze to combo finisher.

I also experience a little bit of rubberbanding in this particular fight. Frankfurt server.

It's true that even though I've finished every FromSoft souls game multiple times and other soulslikes as well, I just cannot get the feel for i-frames here.

I wiped 12 times this morning, then rage quit. It's not fun. I have gear from 5x complete runs through A1, I am kinda overgeared. The marathon of dodge rolls and one-shots is just kinda lame.
I think the Fight is DPS check. The people I see taking it down easily are putting him down before it gets nasty, and phasing him pretty fast. The people struggling (like me) aren't putting in enough damage to end the fight and are running out of pots to sustain 5 or 6 minutes of insanity. I really dislike this potion system and it's not balanced for characters that don't have a crap load of concentrated DPS. Because there is no way to sustain a long fight without getting lucky on potion crafting, which is another problem when you don't have a robust crafting system (no alts).

Attempt 13 today. I tried joining a public party. After a few minutes of repeatedly telling everyone "I am standing at the door to the boss, just teleport to me", 2/4 other players finally did that, then one of them disappeared, so I assumed they went in to do the boss fight. I went in, and was alone with no other players joining. So I tried to teleport out to another player in the party by clicking the spiral icon (while in battle with Graenor), and the game crashed.

Cant do it. as soon as he does his red circle, i am dead. dodge doest go far enough to get out of it.

I died a few times to that in the beginning, but you can make it. As soon as he starts casting it just keep running in a direction and only dodge at the last moment. You can also see the boss preparing to cast it even before the red circle appears. But it's a tough one for sure, maybe an extra 200-300ms cast time would be fair.
I absolutely loved the fight. It is an incredible climax to an amazing Act 1.

Geonor is balanced just right and is the first real check if you get PoE2.

You cannot glass cannon him. He is not a DPS check. You will get hit at times. And if you have insufficient defenses you will die. If you have not learned how to dodge roll by then, you will die. All his attacks are extremely well telegraphed. It is a true duel.

If Geonor is too hard it is a lesson. That you need to rethink your approach. Consider the tools the game offers to you.

Do you have life regen? Do you have runes socketed? Did you diligently disenchant socketed items so you can add sockets to your own gear? Did you learn that all you need to have an adequate weapon is a phys prefix? Can you utilize your arsenal of skills correctly?

Geonor is a test if you learned during Act 1.

I tried. 3 different characters. about 60 to 70 times now.
i cant. i am not even getting close. In his 2nd phase he oneshots me, and in all my attempts i havent even gotten close to getting him under 80 percent.
i spent the last day just trying to kill him, again and again and again.

Cant do it. as soon as he does his red circle, i am dead. dodge doest go far enough to get out of it.

Git gud, git geared.

If wolf slamming from orbit (aka red circle) 1-shots you, you need more life. It's supposed to be survivable (I will admit it's very hard to dodge). Farm some more gear with life and defenses in earlier zones.

The freezing starfall thing is just something you need to learn to dodge roll. Remember that dodge roll has iframes (slam doesn't respect them but solstice of pain does).

If you're one of the lucky ones that had an exalt drop, see if you can buy a weapon for your class with +2 to the appropriate skills. It makes a huge difference - higher DPS means you need fewer "perfect dodge rolls" to down a boss.

That being said, I'm sorry to break it to you, but the fight gets even harder later on.

So, thats sad. i spend 60 euros on a support package, and i am hardlocked into watching the first act until the end, and then thats it.

I know, i know, skill issue, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Wanna bet i am not the only one with that issue? Think the others will spend another dime in a game they cant progress in? Me neither.

Noone needs to spend a dime on this game. It's a free to play game. You paid for the privilege to be a beta tester for GGG.

And I hope you don't expect that money will guarantee you progress in the game.
