So. i can not defeat Geonor

I did this Boss with 3 different chars. At the first char i die often but after knowing the mechanic i did him first try with every other char at lvl 17.

PoE2 is a boss learning game.
If you're struggling with one class gearwise I'd recommend trying a different class that you've hopefully saved some good drops for by now. I don't think I'd have enjoyed the warrior nearly as much if I hadn't found a rare hammer with really good damage on my level 5 merc and decided to try it out. That hammer carried me all the way from the beginning of act 1 to the beginning of act 2. I have a bunch of rare ranger gear and some unique staffs I'm planning on trying out soon. I love that we can actually use the gear we find in this game instead of having to ignore it because it doesn't have the right sockets.

I'm not some crazy fast reflex gamer or anything. I'm 35 with a permanent hand injury. I play single player Tarkov with bots on the easiest setting because I can't compete online. I just didn't find this boss fight that much harder than all the others. The mist king took me 3 or 4 tries. Maybe you're outrunning your gear. It's easy to get undergeared if you aren't putting effort into keeping up with it. I crafted both my current weapon and chest armour, you can't always wait for drops.

I tried. 3 different characters. about 60 to 70 times now.

Cant do it. as soon as he does his red circle, i am dead. dodge doest go far enough to get out of it.

He telegraphs that big red circle. Once I recognized the animation, he never hit me with it again. I'm playing a Monk.

It's a new game. No guides, no cookie cutter builds. You have to THINK.

This isn't POE1 with better graphics. That seems to be what all the POE1 players wanted.

So many entitled gamers whining that they aren't getting told they are special and powerful, on day three of a brand new game, that they need to quit before it damages their self esteem.

I'm glad this game is making me work. If I was on end game on day one, screen killing everything, I'd quit by the end of the weekend.

So you are telling me that you are a better gamer than me, and that somehow being able to press dodge 200 times per minute and still atacking makes you 'think more' than i do. And that i am an entitled gamer because i spend the last day, 8 hours of my limited lifetime, trying to figure out how to progress in a game i spend 60 Euros on (not to mention the money in spend in POE1 before), and that i am not happy that i cant progress in said game.

Did you ever think about the fact that people who are not as awesome as you also have right to enjoy the stuff they pay for?

I'm 52 years old. I'm not that fast. I watched his patterns and learned.

Also, wanting to experience everything others can do simply because you paid money is the definition of entitled....

I do. I've never played any of those games but the influence is very obvious. Jonathan Rogers literally name dropped Elden Ring when talking in an interview about how they specifically intended people to go back and get stronger if they were struggling with a boss. The game is basically "what if Diablo 2 was kind of like Elden Ring?" I think in general it's exactly what the ARPG genre needed.
Its also entirely possible that he isn't gearing up correctly. After 3 characters to level 20, you haven't found ANY boots with movespeed on them? How much cold res do you have? I've fought him at level 17/18 and was never one-shot by the red ring thing. The red ring is probably phys damage, how much armor do you have?

Armor is not a low investment stat. The less armor you have, the more likely it is to be completely overwhelmed. A big enough hit will ignore armor and you'll take 100% of the damage. That is why its not just phys resistance.

Get some armor, as much as you can. Get some cold res, as much as you can. And get movespeed on your boots. Dodging is the same speed as running over the whole distance of the dodge, with more movespeed its not just 'dodging' you can just walk out of it. There are movespeed nodes pretty early on the tree too (at least dex side), are you pathing to those?

Like there are a LOT of tools you really could be ignoring and you saying "3 characters, can't do it" explains none of the why.

EDIT: Flat life on gear as well of course. The tools exist, this isn't JUST a darksouls game, its still PoE.

Only time will tell I suppose, but I love Elden Ring and I hate what they did with POE2. That entire philosophy just fails so hard with an ARPG the way they implemented it.

tbh I don't like how they took the "PoE is the Dark Souls of RPGs" meme seriously. The meme exists because PoE 1 is cryptic and hard to get into, not because it lacks the mighty dodge roll.
I don't think you've mentioned which control scheme you're using. WASD feels incredible to me, and the difficulty seems tuned for it. I don't think the game is actually playable using click to move for anyone who wasn't already a very highly skilled ARPG player. I'm pretty sure I would have ragequit halfway through act 1 if I was using click to move. Maybe there other ARPGs that have used WASD but I'm used to the classics like Diablo 2 and it feels like a revelation.
I will never use controller or change away from my beloved cheap-ass mouse.
