How to turn POE2 into a game w 5 million+ players. 2 Difficulty settings

"
This game isn't meant for casuals. You want easy go play D4

And if Tencent wants to bankroll a game with what is likely going to be a very, very limited audience; then so be it. It is their business decision to make.

But as someone who has played 1000’s of hours of PoE1, I can tell you that a lot of us were expecting a difficulty level in PoE2 similar to that of PoE1. And that is why so many people are so very disappointed.

I love the difficulty BUT:
Easy League (or whatever it's name) with separate economy could be good for those who want less challange or for who the game is too dificult regardles of reason - is a good idea.

This won't detract from anyone who plays on standard, this won't hurt nobody, but will make the game more accesible and that is a good thing.

What will be easier is for the devs to decide, but probably easies change would be:
- Boss heavy hits deal less dmg (especially the AoE) so they more rarely one shot.
- Boss heavy hits have slower animation, giving more time to avoid them.
- Boss heavy hits have bigger cooldowns
- Bosses can be stuned/ frozen/ otherwise affected easier.
- Bosses have a les hp.
- For other enemies that have the most powerful hits and abilities similar tuning would be apropriate.
- For magic and rare enemies there would be differnt and/or nerfed list of possible abilities, so the most difficult ones are tuned down.

Nothing with gear or drops would have to be changed that way.

I love the direction of POE2. How the game is more challenging and fulfilling combat but it seems a lot of people do not. They expected something a lot easier. Many of these players seem like they would not play POE2 if it retains this direction.

Solution: 2 different difficulties. Normal and Easy. So all the players who want to relax and just go through the content.... will have the opportunity to do so. Let's face it... there are a lot of casual gamers and poe2 is likely not a good home for them. But it is an amazing home for gamers who want a more serious experience. So lets provide both?

How the 2 difficulties will be distinct: You decide. I don't know the answer to this yet. If anyone has any ideas please share. You cannot switch difficulties for that character however and maybe some of the end game content is fundamentally different. End game bosses that are a bit more basic and certain legendary loot would be removed from the echosystem as well.

So we can retain every gaming audience with this solution. Casual daddy moms and the hardcore....

--edit--
2 difficultly settings would allow a tremendously large audience to participate in POE2. and the gamers who appreciate the challenge... still have the exact same game they enjoyed.... the default mode. No one loses anything and only positives are to be gained.

Elden Ring became one of the best selling games of all times by literally doing the opposite of what you are suggesting

I don’t play Dark Souls games, and while I don’t mind a game that requires planning, strategy, and thoughtful decision-making, I’m not a fan of gameplay that relies heavily on timing or moment-to-moment mechanical skill. That’s just not my thing. I prefer games that are more relaxing.

Yeah I feel like you just described me

Well, this is NOT Elden Ring... this is Path of Exile 2!!!

And Elden Ring right now has 30k people playing it... if Path of Exile 2 has 30k people playing it 2 years from now then it's a bust of a game...

Because it could have 2 fucking MILLION people playing it if you decided to not be an entitled brat and let other people enjoy it at their own difficulty level!!!

SNOWFLAKE!!!

The amount of cringe I got from this message is unhealthy, I might need a doctor
I don't think PoE2 needs additional difficulty settings. I do think PoE2 needs some additional accessibility features. I'm not sure how they would go about maintaining the difficulty while improving accessibility, but they should give it some serious thought before the game goes into full release.
Stay sane, exiles!
Nobody cares if you need a doctor... you certainly don't read or understand words though
there isn't going to be an easy mode.

Give proper feed back about balance, mechanics etc and see if it will get changed...it's basically a glorified beta, that's what it is for.
Ancestral Bond. It's a thing that does stuff. -Vipermagi

I've suggested the two or more game modes idea all week. No feedback at all.

I don't even find the game that hard, until you get into deeper maps, at which point it becomes a one-shot fest. But I'm 42 years old, with 10k hours in ARPG's and another 2000 in souls-like games. I have NO problems seeing how people might struggle with POE2. It doesn't make them bad gamers!
The game should have had a difficulty curve into the campaign over the first three acts, not just a stonewall at act 1.

The game is mostly tedious for me, that is my big problem
Ascendancies gated behind really shitty mechanics, for one. Nerfing anything having a decent clearspeed into oblivion instead of simply balancing it is another.

But I'm all for difficulties. If you are opposed to that idea you just hate people having fun, really.

Whenever someone uses the words "Just get good", all I hear is "I'm an elitist a-hat". Don't care about those people at all.

They don't want a discussion, they just want to brag about how amazing human beings they are, because that is usually what sad, pathetic people tend to do.
