You could always set up google remote access on your computer and on your phone and access your computer at lunch and start the download

Right, so don't let people who lucked into being in a region with better internet play a day early. There's no need to feed their advantage, after all.
Steam offers encrypted preloads. People should at least be given that option.

How Steam preloads work
Everything that has been described above also applies to preloads, except for one minor detail — the encryption key is not accessible until the game releases.
Steam downloads all the chunks into *.csd files in the depotcache folder, and when the encryption key becomes available, it will decrypt it.
When downloading a released game, the decryption process happens while downloading, but when decrypting a preload, Steam has to read and write data to disk, so if your disk is slow but you have fast internet, it may actually take longer to decrypt a preload than re-downloading the game.

that's a good method actuallly, didn't know. i don't use propriatary (gaming) plattforms which take away all my games if the owning company goes the way all capitalist companies go one day.

I think the problem is more the FAQ says there will be one a few days ahead, so going back on that now...
I'm sure some would complain about it regardless but as is now.

no one here talks about days as a preload, were talking about giving the players 6h-12h preload not days. I mean even 10 would be fine but expecting everyone to download 100GB+ in a few minutes is just a bad move
