Feels like a scumbag moment from GGG

I thought it was obvious for POE players... The head start is knowledge.

I'm sorry, do you think the wiki/poe2db/any other source/these forums right here, won't have the entire amount of info everyone in the EA posts? Do you think they are all gonna hoard it like dragons? Do you mean to tell me you don't use a single other external source of info? Cmon now, I thought it was obvious.

If anything you should be thankful, when you play on the actual launch, you'll have the entirety of all our knowledge, and tools, available from the word go. Now say thank you.

There is a slight difference between POE2 Early Access and POE1 betas. POE1 had a closed beta (pay $10 to play) but then had a free open beta for about 9 months before actual launch.

Seems like POE2 is going to go from closed beta (pay $30 to play) straight to launch. No free open beta window.

So if you want to get a bit of a head start before POE2 launch, your only option is to pay.

Its not like that. We know that the intended lenght of EA is 6 months. The game will be out at the end of next year. There will be a period of time when there wont be any access for anyone. POE2 will most likely launch as open beta and will stay in it for a few years. Thats how it is done these days.

So the game is not launching for a few years. Good to know thanks.

Most mmos games on the market are in open beta you know.

You're naive if you think you can learn about the game without playing the actual game. You must be trying to troll. It's not going to work. Sorry.

....So, you don't open PoB, and literally build your entire character before entering the world? Or look up a guide, telling you exactly what gear to get and skills to use for X build?

I think you're the naive one here. But see you in a few years when we figure out the game for you.
I think anyone else should understand what I'm saying so I'm done here. My previous post got deleted so I must have hurt someone's feelings.

I understand but also think you overestimate the value of that. Its non competetive game, its constantly changing, we wont have half of it anyway etc. The only difference would be some mechanical practice that you will make up for in few hours.

Not mine, hard to get hurt by someone who doesn't understand information can be found outside the game and should utilize all the resources at their disposal. Most POE players understand that.

You do not have to pay to try it out. You can wait until it full releases and try it for free. No one is forcing you to pay for this game, you make a choice to get early access to the game

No one is technically forced to pay, and that's not really the point. It's like promising "Free shelter" to the homeless, then clarifying, "But you'll have to sleep outside in the rain for a few years while we make sure the curtains are in perfect alignment, unless you can pay your way in now". It's technically correct but it turns the original promise on its head.

For God's sake, man...

I'm not really going to touch that awful analogy, because it doesn't deserve a response. But you keep talking about promises; GGG have not once promised a free early access, or a free closed beta, or a free closed alpha. What they have promised, is that the game will be free at launch. You know this, I know this, everyone knows this. Hell, even Elon Musk seems to know this. And you know what? If the game doesn't turn out to be F2P at launch, I'm all with you. But we both know that won't happen, and we both know that the game, in it's entirety, is and will be free (or at least F2P).

And we ALL know the F2P model needs income too. And EVERYONE should know that one of the most used tools to fund a development these days, is a pre-release funding model, like an early access is.

Just stop your trolling crusade, you can't possibly think it's still fun? While you're probably making a fool of everyone that keeps replying to you (me included - and yes, I feel like a fool for replying to you), you're making more of a fool of yourself by now.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

I think the shelter analogy holds up just fine. It frames the issue in way that cuts through argument that rely heavily on semantics. Arguments like:

"You're not forced to pay for shelter"
"They never promised a free early shelter"
"Shelters cost money"
"The shelter is not finished yet"
"You can just wait for the free shelter"
"You're not entitled to early shelter"
"It's not a shelter yet"

and so on...
