The facts remain, The game isn't free to play if you have a price tag on release and early access is release. It has been sent to the presses for review and anyone can play it. Provided you pay up. Unlike a closed beta, which is by definition closed.

Yea, cool i didnt know it had.
Point still stands, its not release. It will literally will be taken away for half a year. Im still waiting for you to point me the differences between Poe1 closed beta and this EA. PoE1 closed beta also had payed access so your point is invalid.
They did this with PoE. If you wanted to get in before they opened the beta to all, you had to pay.

Yes, they made you pay to be a tester. And they'll do it again. Because it's actually an industry standard now. Why pay for QA, when you can hype up your potential customers and get them to pay you for doing work you should be doing before you release?

EA does it, Activision, Capcom, Sony, you name them, they've done it.

Except maybe Nintendo. Maybe.

I think you misunderstood my post, or perhaps something got lost in translation or perhaps english is not your primary language.

Points 1,2,3 were in reinforcing my spoint that this is the release of poe2 and not a beta test, (hence open beta renamed to early access). Reviewers generally don't get sent copies ahead of the public unless its a release and poe1 wasn't avaiable to buy in steam store because it wasn't ready. Poe2 clearly is ready for release and the devs have said as much they are happy to release it.

I didn't misunderstand you, your points are just wrong.
EA is not release.
Steam didn't really have that much relevance in 2011, but you were talking about it as if it had the status it has now. The same goes for game reviewing. 15 years ago is wasn't common for indie game developer to send out prerelease content to reviewers, now it is. You're talking about two completely different launches, the only similarity? POE EA/beta access costs money.

you know what i would do for you guys if i was GGG.
no EA at all , game comes out when it comes out .
and you will pay 90dollars for 3 day EA actually .

but just for you complaining the rest of us play in 4 days for 30 dollars .

Early access IS NOT Release\launch -- that's the whole meaning behind EARLY. Just because there's a paywall being added for early access doesn't make it shady. I personally don't like the idea of paying to "beta test" myself but it does ensure that the players are invested enough to report problems. And some people really have trouble grasping the concept that even free games need to generate revenue, or the idea that by being "free" an individual can decide how little or how much they want to spend....

I personally have no continuing interest in Poe or Poe2 but I still check GD from time to time.

You really need to learn what actual predatory behavior is - maybe lookup NZXT and their rental program for example.
Yep, totally over league play.
If you don't want to pay, just wait for the full release, simple...
Tencent took over, time to pay the piper, for their buyout !!
There is a slight difference between POE2 Early Access and POE1 betas. POE1 had a closed beta (pay $10 to play) but then had a free open beta for about 9 months before actual launch.

Seems like POE2 is going to go from closed beta (pay $30 to play) straight to launch. No free open beta window.

So if you want to get a bit of a head start before POE2 launch, your only option is to pay.

I paid $5 to buy into PoE beta.

Happy to pay $30 to get into PoE2 EA. I've spent way more on shit I've used/played way less.
