Feels like a scumbag moment from GGG

No your analogy would only hold water if the full release was not free.

Using your logic it would be like your are going to a shelter that is still being built and was collecting funding to finish the building, but you were mad you were not getting free shelter.

I think the shelter analogy holds up just fine. It frames the issue in way that cuts through argument that rely heavily on semantics. Arguments like:

"You're not forced to pay for shelter"
"They never promised a free early shelter"
"Shelters cost money"
"The shelter is not finished yet"
"You can just wait for the free shelter"
"You're not entitled to early shelter"
"It's not a shelter yet"

and so on...

Imagine comparing a game to real life... That analogy is just stupid. You are also forgeting the fact that the"shelter" is not ready yet. You were never promised free access to EA. Deal with it.
People in here acting like EA Keys are a Human Right

Just pay the $30, you get equivalent points for the store

$30 is what you can earn by shoveling snow for an hour or cleaning your neighbor's yard of leaves.

It really isn't. Like, I get the point you were trying to make in some roundabout way, but that analogy is really just terrible. Shelter is a basic necessity. Comparing literal extortion to what is at best predatory monetization is quite the stretch.

It's just a video game. If you want to play now, pay $30, which you can make in a little over 4 hours at the US federal minimum wage of $7.25/h. If you don't want to do that, you can continue to play PoE which is free and has like 15 years of content to work through.
Turns out they put the $30 price is to reduce server stress. They are already expecting 1 million on the first day. They said they are expecting to be much more than that when it becomes free to play.

You do not have to pay to try it out. You can wait until it full releases and try it for free. No one is forcing you to pay for this game, you make a choice to get early access to the game

No one is technically forced to pay, and that's not really the point. It's like promising "Free shelter" to the homeless, then clarifying, "But you'll have to sleep outside in the rain for a few years while we make sure the curtains are in perfect alignment, unless you can pay your way in now". It's technically correct but it turns the original promise on its head.

You have to be trolling.
Lotta broke people in here trying to play Olympic level mental gymnastics to avoid the fact the games full launch is free like they'll magically get to play the EA if they win gold.

I will pay to play a game at least 6 months ahead before launch day and knowing this game is what I have been looking for since October 28th, 2003.
I think the bigger unethical problem here is that you can pay $30 to get an early access key .. or having paid $480 prior.

$480?!

Why not $30? You know .. the price of the access?

Heck, even $100. $480? The cost of a yearly supporter pack at the highest tier? Seriously?
