The state of Beta Feedback
" Hey, you keep making this game awesome and pushing out more updates than every ARPG I've played can shake a fucking stick at. Seriously. We love you. At least, I love you. The forums can be a really dark place with the "anyone can post with no barrier for entry" and I'm so, so happy every time I read posts like this and see you still love the community and the game, that this isn't bringing you down. You keep making it awesome, hire someone else to be your proxy on the forums. Hell, I'd do it for less than I'm making now. 10 bucks an hour? :) http://i.imgur.com/kyhjZoN.png

That sounds really promising. I've been getting so frustrated with PoE lately because i WANT to love this game and GGG, but i get really disheartened sometimes.

" Reddit and Twitter isn't the only target of Dev information where it actually shouldn't be posted on a regular basis. Kripparians stream is another source of dev responses where they shouldn't be. I don't watch his stream because he is only copy pasting other players builds claiming it as his own("his" WED Cleave race build is snoddgrass1283 build for example when he reached western forest in 3h in cb with "Cleavingtothetop") and the builds are only mainstream ones. The only stream I watched from time to time was devmoon, because he plays the game without abusing certain mechanics. So why the hell should the information be there? It's not like all his followers are players here. " You can be sure that threads get picked how devs like them to pick and longer threads won't be read entirely because they tend to derail--->Just look at the Q&A Thread. How long are we waiting for answers? Other example Kripparian instantly got a response on the "1 week challenge" while even a bug that has been reported like 50 times in CB so it has been considered as known bug-->Loot drop close to walls/objects gets fixed shortly after a repost. Alira not dropping the amulet was the most common thread of this bug. Meaning: They catch a thread early on-->You are lucky. A thread gets 10 pages within 1 day. Maybe first post but forget follow up postings. " If the question is rather reformulated: "Is melee going to be fixed? If yes when?"-->Yes we are discussing how to fix it but I can give no ETA. Or in CB for example I asked WHY summon skeletons have been changed so you have to summon over and over making it not different from any other skill-->Totem skeletons are so popular. I still disagree with 2 skeletons each cast especially now since it makes no difference if there are 2 skeletons with 5k HP total or 4 skeletons with 5k HP total. Elemental damage destroys them really fast anyway. I got an answer. But if I ask now: Why did you do stealth nerfs->79life on jewelery, iron chests everywhere instead of golden ones? I get no answer. This has nothing to do with balance. For example 79 HP max on amulets and rings while other parts got higher level mods with 100+ life the loss of 120 HP from oak only moved common endgame HP from Level 75 to 85, while mobs to more damage on higher difficulties. And the only explanation for chest nerfs is a bot/maphack paranoia but botting is far more efficient if you do it on low level in low level areas simply because of currency drops! If I ask why gameplay slowed down in terms of experience I also get no answer. In CB I was 2 levels under arealevel even I skipped almost entire Act1 with low densities. Now I am 4-6 levels underleveled without skipping anything requiring far more time to finish it which would be fine but I don't want to be forced to grind for hours so I get best experience again! Especially reddit and Kripparian responses are pissing me off. I don't like social networks because they are just a temporary trend and already dying also this popularity rating is far to easy to manipulate. Should I show you an example like by making "Which color is Rhoa poop?" the most popular thread on reddit? The Kripparian responses have negative side effects such as he gets blamed by users for bad changes. Also he is a kind of gamer that are totally uninteresting as well his suggestions. Playing much and playing mainstream builds that sums Kripparian up pretty much as well as other popular streamers. To me he is a typical MMO player. In fact every player with some time investment can create an eledamage WEDabuser cleaver and win. devmoon for example won races if he used mainstream builds but he did an excellent job for example playing a melee shadow and reaching a3 in a 3h race. I am certain he would be a Top3 player if fingerprint races are introduced (simply because he is also using charactersbuilds that are uncommon and hard to play) and you can't use the same build over and over again. So why does Kripparian get so much attention? What if 60% of his followers are nothing but bots? I can easily manipulate such numbers. His style of playing is repetitive watching a bot has the same entertaining level to me. So in fact both ways can be manipulated and both ways only reach a minority of people playing this game. That's why I think dev responses should be focused on the poe site because mods can filter relevant responses. If it's too much information to handle how about a board every user can create only 1 posting what he things about a situation with possible updates after a patch. This way devs don't have to deal with internal quarrels of some users. |

" Why don't you implement a stealth mute that makes the client think they are spamming? Spambots use packethandlers and proxylists. They check for the mutepacket switch the proxy create a new account and spam again. A stealth mute wouldn't throw a packet to the bot. RMT storage is such a thing. If you do some research you will find out that RMT sites indeed use D2JSP to get level services-->High level spambots and do powerbuying. Powerbuying means they buy Foolsgold from users for less money the site itself sells it, they buy currency in PoE and sell it for real money. I already pmed you a suggestion to destroy d2jsp for PoE once for all. It's not a nice way but it eliminates it for 95% if not 100% at the beginning. A more time investing method would bebuy an old d2jsp account create bait orbs/items and sell them for forum gold and ban the accounts after trade. I can name you some RMT users on on D2JSP like slomex, rapiddani etc. (mainly bulgarian IPs). Those are RMT owners/coworkers acquiring currency. If you do a quick google search on those names you find them trading on many games on different realms at the same time. |

" I can't discuss what we do against spammers publicly (because they're reading this), but the method you describe is one of many, many that have been needed to block the volume of spam messages that get filtered out before users see them. " Chris, how about this: make it so no one is able to talk until they reach the town from twlight strand? New people will start playing the game so they wont even bother chatting until they get to town anyway and you can also pop an explenation if they try to do it: "You can not chat until you reach the town, sorry, but this to restrict spamming" And if it gets somwhow passed by the bots, up it up to you "cant chat until level 3" had this idea quite a while ago, and im assuming quite a few others thought about it, but didnt know where to post it, would be nice to hear your thoughts this one since it might help for a while at least! " Whatever your intensions with your post, you do sound like you just dislike Kripparrian. I am certain he did not claim the WED build as "his". His words were somewhat like: "A friend of mine told me that cleave would scale pretty well with elemental damage." If I remember correctly, the words were spoken in one of his youtube videos, possibly the one named "My Racing Build" (not 100% on that one). Devmoon is probably a great player who can do very well with hard-to-play builds.. What Kripp does is he analyzes the rules/constraints and does what it takes to win. You can call it the easiest way, mainstream, whatever. No matter what you call it, he is pretty damn good at it. You cannot blame him for that. " You didn't exactly nail that one yourself did you? ;) (Apologies in advance for sarcasm.. I know thread =/= post) Last edited by Hassefar60#0882 on Apr 24, 2013, 5:00:19 AM

Hillbert, most of the time I hate you but fuck, we agree on alot.
I've been driven insane by what kripp has had access to. That, what month, he was streaming act 3 all of us alpha members had no idea how to act. We didn't know what we could or couldn't discuss meanwhile Kripp is letting any info he wasn't explicitly told not to stream fly. Then he's getting Chris on and talking about things we've already addressed on the forums, suddenly they are fixed. I'm sorry but it's hard to believe things are being read when something is addressed "face to face" and the response is surprise. It's sad when my thread gets like 30 pages of replies and all I'm hoping is that Kripp talks about it so something actually gets done. I'm an alpha member and I feel like Kripp is the gatekeeper. I feel fucking useless. edit: to be clear, I like Kripp, he's the reason I started playing POE in the first place. I just don't like the feeling that if he doesn't discuss it then it won't be addressed. " This is what every single alpha member i have talked to ever has said. That reminds me, another drawback to the style of information flow: People who damn well should be alpha members are discouraged from posting the feedback that they are capable of, and therefore seen as not alpha material. " If you want to reach the sheep you must go through the shepherd. Aka I think krips followers are MOSTLY mindless drones that copy w/e he does. It's good for business for GGG to work with him. To be clear, I think it's a BS move. But there you have it. Business is business. DISCLAIMER!
The views and expressed opinions of Dragon are solely those of a drunken redneck and are not necessarily those of a sane person. Any likeness of intelligence is strictly coincidental and should not be taken seriously. His posts should not be read... by anyone. |
