Experience loss driving some players away?
" This is why I wonder why people complain about some things. Majority of people never reached 99 in D2 without botting. Why do people expect to be able to hit 100 in this game? Is it because of D3 that people feel the need to get to the level cap? If you are no longer enjoying the grind on an 80+ character, then just start a new one or move to a different game and come back when there is more content for higher level content. |

Why not just remove death in this game altogether, since people obviously can't deal with it.

I haven't been able to level up for weeks. I lost 45% of a level just today. In the last 2 weeks I have found 2 chaos orbs. I sold a bow for a GCP. That is pretty much my wealth apart from about 200 chromatics and a pile of other useless crap. I have put about 300 hours into the game. I just don't have it in me to carry on playing. There is no reward.

yep. there is only a reward if you just keep playing for days and days and weeks and weeks. even if you die. so time > all. thats why no-lifers like kripp etc. get the most out of the game. sad but true ...

" This is easily the most fascinating discussion about POE i've stumbled upon. This. game. I got brutalized and I'm at a paltry level 57 or so. in default no less... just a babbling infant among some world class athletes as far as im concerned. I sympathize totally with both ends of the spectrum; those who absolutely laugh at the thought of even playing on default, and those who basically hate the game's XP loss so much that they don't play the game at all. Both arguments are pretty valid. personally I hate the game. just hate the idea of "never being able to face roll" I hate the Idea of like the one guy mentioned, gain 75 levels and get absolutely crushed by some random mob. and at the same time I enjoy the game immensely from time to time, inching my mongoloid summoner through Merciless Act 1..... and through it all I respect the overall game design more than I even predicted I might when I first saw the talent tree..its heartwarming that the extreme players have a game to sink their teeth into. they Don't get much these days. Im all over the shop. Im proud to be a part of such a ruthless and complex game and I wish the builds delivered WAY more power....but yea....its overall...much respect. I had a level 99 bowazon in D2 LOD. Character was named JungleTits. Best name in the game if I do say so myself. No botting and 100% Hell cow raised.
Stopped playing when the dupe went public. It was right before the synergies were introduced in a patch. Completely nerfed my Zon that had been 99 for a month maybe. Aint played it a day since. I was in college and did not work then. Now I work 50 hours a week. Got a couple level 75's here and am getting bored with it. It's a great game, but it has alot of issues. I may stick around and I may find another one to play. Not sure yet. Worst part is there are a lot of stuck up/hollier than thou players on the forums. Seems any opinion/feedback posted that does not fall in line with some posters thinking gets flamed. Get off your high horse folks. Have a nice day. |

something tells me your bowazon was closed battlenet softcore and thats the point if you have no penalty for death even the biggest noob will be lvl 100 at some point
btw did d2 have exp loss on death i have no idea i played hc only never got higher than 96 on my sorc lets assume you get what you want a game without penalty you will play it for few days and thats it no thrills no excitement ohh look iam dead who cares and default would even be more pathetic than it is now i tried to raise a life righeous fire in default its so fucking boring i have 3 exp uniques just to get over with it quick as possible i cant even stand 30min to play/leech that char without falling asleep or watching tv at the same time no concentration needed no positioning no planning....ohh look lvlup now i can do oak who cares if i die and some of you guys want to cheapen the experience even more..... really hard to understand from the bottom of my heart i hope chris never bows down to casual whine https://poe-ssf.herokuapp.com/.
