Absolutely nothing wrong with the experience loss. Some the whining in this forum is even getting to me now. Whole front page. Some valid with the majority just ridiculous.

it doesnt

just dont understand how you QQ'ers always find something to complain about.

game is what it is....its working so far in hardcore, so i could only imagine it works just as well in softcore...yet you people are finding new ways of complaining.

look, if you want to faceroll content and never die...go back to playing diablo 3.

otherwise, just get used to the mechanics of this game and build a more well rounded character

I completely agree with the OP's friend. I should not be getting penalized for dying, death is penalty enough.

What makes it worse is that you accrue experience loss during desync deaths or if you were to have an internet blip. If there is a lag spike in your internet connection and all the mobs freeze around you and you die, you should not be penalized for that, because you had no control over it. It is situations like these where I have to wonder what exactly they were thinking with adding the experience loss.

It was an incredibly bad idea and I'm hoping as more acts are added the other difficulties are removed entirely so we don't have to worry about this awful mechanic.
I personally wouldn't want the xp penalty removed. This is just an excuse for you to get your friends to start playing. Besides it roots out all the kiddies that get butthurt when they die, so we can get a somewhat mature playerbase and not some 12 year olds running around complaining and whining about everything, and acting all immature.
Hi there,

Please do not let threads deteriorate with ad-hominem arguments or remarks that are made with the deliberate intent to antagonize or elicit a response that escalates a situation. Please debate topics in a manner that is reasonable and on topic.

Thanks,
Bex

The game forces everyone to play it as if they were held to HC rules - no one wants to eat a 15% XP loss at level 75... no one. It makes it so that everyone needs to continue to play the game at snails pace, take zero risks, and completely build around health nodes - exactly like HC league. You may as well actually just play HC because you'll be playing like you were already.
. This is just a load of bull. I died today at lvl 77 and got ot back in just a little bit over 1 hour. The penalty also forces you to actually plan ahead With different items, skills, passives etc. Removing the penalty Will leave us With nothing interesting left at all.

My friend isn't the only one who won't play a game with experience loss. I talked to my wife about trying the game out as well (she played D2/D3/Sacred/Dungeon Siege, etc) and she won't play it either because she doesn't want to deal with the XP loss penalty.

I swear people forget there was an XP penalty in D2 (10% in hell?). People would lose days of farming as well if they died at level 95+, but people didn't bitch about it so much. I remember people leaving the games if there were any Gloams in Worldstone.

I do think there needs to be some penalty to dying, but 15% exp may be too much. They can't do a lot of things because of the lack of gold system. Also, it is even more harsh at real high levels because the game isn't completed yet, so the upper levels aren't really supported with high level content to compensate. In the future when more acts/maps are out, there will be higher content, and it won't be as bad.

The main issue I have is that nothing from 1 to 75 prepares you for 75 to 100. After 5-7 level 75+ all fully decked out and even speced based on famous HC streamers I can still get a map or 2 in a row that decimates me. I can get in a spin where I play for hours - and then have all of that time completely stripped from me just from a couple nasty mobs. I sucks so much to see your time just evaporate and get absolutely nothing for it - no good drops - no currency - it's so demoralizing to have done this over 5-7 times to find out... what? There's nothing here to learn anymore... I could list out my characters and all their gear - I over gear the content and still can suffer a loss that wipes out hours of my life. It's not cool in my eyes so much so that I'm just simply not playing the game anymore... because the time to level ANOTHER character to level 75 - to then bash my skull against content I may or may not be built for? No thanks man.

You let me know when you get to that point and are changing your mind on things.

Again I'll say it: there is nothing from 1->75 that will teach you, or give you any semblance that your character is strong enough from 75->100. It's a completely different game.

have to agree here ... as i said before, its not the xp loss that hurts me most, its the time i invested which just gets completly erased .. and that is an absolute no-go for a game imho.
