The 50% exp penalty is great and should go core!
i think current system is fine
people with bad internet need to go a bit overboard on defences d:-D*

" You can also nerf exp bonuses all you want in rotas, but it's still the safest method to level and people will almost certainly stick with the strategy. So long as there's 1shots, offscreen kills, and mechanics which disincentivizes any builds not speed clear focused, most people will stick to 5way rotas for safe leveling. This is a problem that won't go away by axing exp bonuses in teams or increasing the death penalty, in fact the latter will just force more players to do 5way carries in order to avoid all of that. One way to solve this problem would be to outright prevent players getting exp if they don't damage any mobs, but that would cause a LOT of other problems, especially for players who legitimately co-op. Personally, I'd rather GGG make reaching level 100 easier so 5ways are less necessary, or just remove the death penalty. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! And the winds will cry / and many men will die / and all the waves will bow down / to the Loreley |

People will always run safe strategies. People got to 100 only running TotA this season. Other people just ran Sanctums. If you increase the XP penalty too much you end up rewarding those strategies even more. People don't even care if it takes a little longer as long as it's safe

Nah it would go away if they tanked group xp enough, the time requirement would put people off doing it if it was anything like regular xp, safety is a bonus but I think its a mistake to think the multiplier isn't anything to do with it.
You've always been able to level pretty safely with an aurabot but people largely didn't do it in the past anyway |

" +1 I reached level 100 for the first time in the 11 years I've played PoE this league just by grinding Sanctum. I don't want Sanctum to become popular just because it's one of the safest leagues in the game, but increasing death punishment is absolutely going to make that happen. " I highly doubt that, especially if GGG actually raises the exp death penalty. People will take slow leveling if it's safe. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Thats got an if in it, my point is they didn't take it in the past at 10% - the higher it gets the more likely they will take safe but if it takes ages they won't.
If you have access to rotas and the currency 5 ways/juicestones are like 10x faster than just grinding it already before you even factor in the xp penalty. It might well be that player mentality is now where they just expect to use rotas to hit 100 though in which case you are right they will remain set on what they are doing, I just believe a little differently just because of how pronounced the difference is between X and Y in this case. |

They could just get down 5 way even more along with the exp of several unique maps including breach stones. Add some additional difficulty to the end game and maybe scale delve some more to shorten the gap between our current power level and the difficulty of endgame. Cause honestly our power creep is so strong that you can simply destroy endgame in less than a week with pretty much the first best shit gear.
A higher exp requirement past 90 and the 50% exp penalty would work just great after some adjustments and changes to easy exp sources, and the poor difficulty of endgame hoho Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

The question is: why would you? The grind to 100 still takes a considerable amount of time for the majority of the playerbase. I think the negative implications for the top percentile of players is much lower than the frustration experienced by the majority of players. It's kinda pointless

This is literally the worst suggestion I'v ever seen on here! Go play Ruthless or something if you need a more significant challenge! This would make me quit the game in 2.2 seconds. My internet goes out all the time unexpectedly where I live and this would ensure I would never level past 96-97.
