The 50% exp penalty is great and should go core!

Idk dude I don't play paper builds. Ask someone who plays paper builds I guess

Beauty of the game is you can play whatever way you want

From my point of view it looks like they want to zoom-zoom maps with completely passive mobs dealing 0-ish damage (1 DPS is acceptable for the bosses :)) to their 100 HP Deadeye. But PoE was never this type of the game, at least on the start, it's not browser cookie clicker simulator? Or it is?

After a certain investment on SC it is and I think its increasingly that way because GGG haven't altered the design in any way to discourage it. If they want players to play it any differently they have to make changes - however I think they are stashing them all for PoE2 and PoE1 is just going to continue its clicker lite style.

That might be a good halfway house I guess, hard to say.

If the game will penalize the build by -1 or -2 level(s) and/or destroying some random item for each death, you will be forced to build some defences to survive and not playing zoom-zoom glass cannons with millions DPS ignoring everything. Moreover it will allow to buff some defence layers because devs will have more feedback related to these mechanics.

Not everyone wants to play the game like it was HC. For many people, playing this game is something they do to relax or relieve stress, not for overcoming challenges or having to be hyper-concentrated. You seem like you just want to push your preferred way of playing on players who have absolutely no interest in HC.

For many players, losing 10% XP, especially at higher levels is like getting kicked in the balls, a 50% loss would be getting kicked five times. Losing levels and items would just make a good portion of the players consider not playing at all.

Not everyone is a masochist or enjoys suffering while just trying to have fun, nor does everyone wants or needs to prove how good they are at playing a video game.

Okay?

So run your maps white in that case, or run lower level content.

There's no reason why a person who just wants to chillax and mindlessly slay some easy monsters can't just run white, non-juiced maps. This game is INCREDIBLY easy if you aren't juicing content; that's why the rewards for juice are so much higher. People can cry all they want about OMG ONESHOTS, but when you actually look at clips of how people die it's literally never to a random enemy in a white Tier 12 map.
So basically don't do any fun content if you don't want to risk week or month of work...

Nah you are free to go to the HC server if you want '' difficulty '' so badly.

People can cry as much as they want about the lack of risk they have a mod for it, not that most of them play it.

Oh, I should specified I wasn't particularly talking about myself, except the relaxing part and not wanting to loose levels or items over a sudden real-life distraction or a lapse of concentration. I'm ok with the present 10% XP penalty, but I think more than that might be excessive.

I like to play more or less balanced builds and I don't like dying. I also like playing the most juiced maps I can and would never consider running a map at less than T16 once I have a build going. I've never cried about one-shots either. If I die in map, it's usually because I am pushing too hard with my present build having not put enough effort into gearing, just not paying enough attention or just doing something stupid. I just don't want to be excessively punished for my mistakes to to the point that the game gets too frustrating to want to play, as I really like this game.

Oh, playing non-juiced white maps sounds too boring, just a frustratingly bland experience if you ask me.

What I was getting at, is that in my opinion, making the most common game-mode (sc trade challenge league) a lot more punishing will just push players away. I'm perfectly fine with making any other more challenging game modes harder or more punishing, as that's were the players who like that kind of stuff gravitate to already.

I'm not on board with pushing a more HC mindset and play-style on everyone. This game already offers so much to different types of players in regards to how they want to play, and I think that's a great accomplishment, and see no reason to want to push people away.

To party up and play with up to 5 friends of course, or to give you reaccess to your map for different reasons, could be for leaving the map to trade, empty your inventory or just because the mobs forcefully removed you hoho
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

I would say if it is Gaussian distribution, 95 % of players are not enduring loving flagellants and play solely for easy dophamine from immidate / fast gratification.

Dunno why endurers think they are billions, not even close.
GGG, please implement this XP penalty but only for the thread starter's account. Thank you.
