This is a ridiculous statement and people would say you haven't even played any TotA matches. But anyway. The AI is very clunky. Escorts are just fillers. I mean literally useless. And it's really not fun watching a few of your "defenders" not being able to disrupt 1 enemy monster that's draining your totem.

First, the actual fact that you can get one-shot a few times in a single match is humiliating for the intelligence of the player. These random one-shots happen too often without you knowing what caused this. And even if you knew, you can't really do much to prevent such damage.
Yes, our characters don't really die or lose XP but it's brutally annoying and humiliating. People spend days to plan their build, weeks to develop it - just so they are being one-shot multiple times in a single match that lasts for a few minutes. If you're ultra tanky, it means you cannot delay opponents by slaying them. If you're a glass-cannon, then you will just die too often. If your build is balanced on both damage, endurance and versatility (like 95% of all my builds), I can say that you barely have enough of anything to play the matches normally - at least not in the later and more rewarding stages. And the AI is not efficient enough. It's ridiculous.

You totally didn't get the point, did you. I literally made my minion build because of TotA. Then my ultra high life doppelganger AG dies for no reason... This is the problem.

Apparently you don't play a minion or a melee build this league.
And you clearly haven't paid any attention why I mentioned walls as an issue, as well as reading my arguments about it.

Now this is surely something that confirms you're a new player and you're not involved into this matter that much. I didn't say they don't make efforts. I said they are bad at presenting and developing the story good enough. We barely see any actual content from the storyline in years. The last actually important content was in Metamorph when Sirus was added. No self-respecting lore-lover accepts Maven, Exarch or Eater as part of the storyline. We barely know the stories of all nations in the world of Wraeclast. We barely visited anything related to the Ezomyr, Maraketh. And now we just visited something that's related to the Karui although it's in the 'afterlife' and not actually in Wraeclast but it's a good step forward. We only visited parts of the Vaal Empire so far. There are even more nations and territories that exist in Wraeclast which most of the audience haven't even heard of.
I won't even go into more details.
Also, the cinematics in this game are scarce beyond description.

Far away from the best to me and since it was an out of map league it almost felt like it was standard most of time, thankfully it wasn't completely because of tattoos and sanctum.
I interacted with tota with 3 builds, one high dps minion one, one basic cheese and one dot build (RF).

The minion one was ok until I started reaching high ranks where the leaders got scaled up so hard that trying to kill them was a mistake, killing my minions WHILE killing my units since they tend to have a lot of AOE, obviously my super tanky AG died from a simple unit with the explode accessory and the matches started taking forever since i wasn't able to clear the enemy units as efficient as the enemy leader, well since tota rewards are based on high highs and low lows, taking forever to do a tournament made it all feel boring and annoying, i hated tota.

But dang then i did a cheese build (rerolled my necro into elementalist with void sphere) and the league became a money printer, would you look at that, did tournaments fast, could do multiples in a hour, got a hinekora lock, multi proj, etc etc. Wow.

And after weeks of this i went to another normal character and goddammit I went back to hating it.

To totas fans, play a common build for one hour in tota to see how useless your tankiness and dps can be and the tournaments becoming a chore for minimal returns, reminder that the void sphere and curses combos are very susceptible to nerfs if it goes core.

You don't have to fight enemy chieftains. As long as you can get rid of lesser units (t1-2) it should be a problem. Something in your approach was just wrong if you couldn't do multiple per hour without cheese.

I never did Void Sphere cheese and still enjoyed Tota. In fact playing it wrong way and fighting monsters during first 2 weeks was the most fun I ever had in PoE.

I am rank 2000 on 2 characters. It's so ironic that you are the one who is trying to present it as if I am lacking experience with Tota. Classic.

None of the the things you mentioned are bugs or unintented. Escort are second most useful and powerful unit type. You should learn how interruption mechanic and AI totem channeling behaviour works.

Mechanic is already balanced so well that you can play practically any build and succeed at highes ranking. Mobs have to deal insane damage othewise it will just make thigns trivial. You are not supposed to tank Tota mobs and a lot of damage is avoidable.

Again, your entire focus on the miniscule issue that AG doesn't do well in Tota when Tota elevated your whole build which is far more important point to discuss. Tota was one of the biggest buffs to minions viability ever. Yet you are dead silent about it.

No, it's just funny how you complain about walls so passionately.

You was talking about lore, not story. How Tota not moving overall PoE's story Tota's issue? What kind of complaint is that? This has nothing to do with Tota. It's not League mechanic's job.

I would love more cinematics for sure.

TOTA is probably my least favorite league mechanic...actually crucible was a bit worse but these two are my least favorite

both these leagues are good for people who play 24/7 but for casuals they are pretty much useless.

Wrong. And you lack knowledge to understand it. I am really happy for anyone that's having fun. But I know bugs when I see them.

Dude, there's not a single player - with or without arguments, who would agree the AG or the character itself should die from one-shots in these matches. You still don't get it. Read it 50 times if you have to. I made 3 minion builds this league. My spectres and other minions don't die. The AG dies. It's bugged.
No major mechanic in the game should be able to one-shot anyone so often. It's totally bugged and the lack of solution of the problem only suggests that GGG are just busy with something else. This, of course, doesn't make an excuse for them at all.
These silly walls are a pitiful wannabe-solution for an unfinished idea that had been left to hang there for the sole reason that 'it is not a big issue'.

As I said. You're neither experienced enough, nor even involved into this, so I won't argue with you about it.

idea maybe, but the execution is lackluster.
Extremely strong disagreement with op...

Tota is by far the most gated for certain type of builds only. If you don't believe, just try to run in there with a minion build... For some extremely bizzare reason it's with pvp scaling, meaning your minions will get annihilated, prepare a coffin for your animate guardian, then prepare a coffin for yourself because you will be spending roughly 50% tota playtime in that coffin.

Extremely enjoyable slams that one-shot you 5 seconds before the attack animation lands. The point of the mechanic is supposed to be strategy, but in most cases only useful entity in your team is you. All other units on your team are wet paper tissue that isn't good even for wiping your rear end. Goliath of the night and speardancer & spearfisher were nerfed, but they still easily one-shot even under 200 ranking.

Rewards aren't worth the pain the mecanic forces you through. I just alt-F4'd from a divine orb reward match because the amount of anger and frustration it pushes me through irl isn't worth the rewards ingame.

Life's too short to tolerate this crap.
