Standard enjoyers?

crucible did add another level of power creep. as i did miss the league entirely, i had to hunt/craft the upgrades. need lockets after merge. the cycle goes on.

The vast majority of people in PoE would MUCH rather play ranged, spells or traps than melee and that's all good. I just want to feel the weight of the damage I'm doing and receiving. Not hear the item drops of the damage I did 3 screens away.

Open games have one special kind of joy meta-slaves never experience: The joy when you pick a sub-par skill/item/wathever and somehow make it work

When you pick stuff the community at large dismiss and make it work, it gives a kind of joy unique to this sort of game, even if you have to resort to legacy stuff to make it happen. It just feels nice to be one of the few people who can clear top content with flicker strike, gives a legit reason to feel special among the masses of casters

Its not just on poe either, on card games, losing to a guy who picked a rogue deck and made it work against you are the kind of losses most people are not even salty or sad about and just goes "well played", winning with meta for the Xth time feels empity, but winning with those kind of decks never ever gets old
On fighting games, the pro players who are chatacter loyalists also enjoy a lot more respect than meta-slaves

I feel you. And its harder when getting older to keep up with tempo your minions have. And think about when getting a bit comfortable just chilling and picking up stuff and don't notice when 20+ minions hitting a mob with crystals on hit. Suddenly you see the biggest purple fast growing explosion and directly start blaming the whole crew of minions, "I said leave those mobs alone and do not hit or kill them"!

"Except that" I prefer to play characters I really like no matter melee or spellee. If I will be a bit more serious the only thing that is big no no never for me is, slow things or horrible things like zombies. Then I can't like my character at all. I am going mad when using glacial hammer if I havn't put in a lot of attack speed (I don't care about dps). Before my last (so overpowered) character had swung his staff and finished the first swing I have yelled, "what the fakk is your problem Frosteld, because I always need to take a nap when you are going to fight, and then wake up when you hit something with that staff. So either let me dream a bit while sleeping or I swap you out and let a turtle figth instead of you, understand?"

I like your thoughts though. Do you never play (and enjoy) other than melee? I know you wrote that but just to make sure :D Sounds like me never playing with zombies in PoE. You really must hate other things than melee - because I know what I think about zombies!

I appologize for my lack of humor this early. Should probably be better a bit later - say year 2064 or so.

Word! And I could add and say, just slapface Hillock at beach til he die, could be enough. Just leaning back in the chair and smile a bit for yourself.

But when I read your message I also saw a poker game in front of me (instead of you card game), when skilled players don't play his/her cards but rather play the board and opponent.

But even if I (and maybe you) don't understand their "fun" I wont take that part away from them.

But I havn't even looked into whats meta or not. Just hear a lot of RF and jugg. So I promised my self never playing RF. It must be the worst experience in the game if thats the "best meta". And if I ever play it, probably I go with zero fire resistance and forced reflected element damage from mob to me (I hope ggg give me such a skill gem personally).

All of you need to take back control of this forum! I do my best but I have to quit playing PoE if even try to keep up and counter attack the most meta whiners here :D
(And for sure I could not have time to answer you in that case so I need some hewlp.)

league is too much on my plate especially working full time, but standard is a best place for my limited free time.

More than that, even if most build guides didn't require items I'll never own (and, no, I can't be arsed to trade for them, even if I was dripping Divines), it'd just be playing someone else's canned build. Not something I created. About the only time I'll even look at a build guide is to see how in blazes someone makes a skill I have difficulty with work, and nine out of ten times, it's because of that ridiculous gear check. ='[.]'=

In RPGS I always play melee if I can. I don't hate other things; they just hold no water for me in the desert of boredom that is modern day gaming.

One cheeky thing about standard - you can get league items like tattoos months before the leagues end from people flipping from hardcore leagues. Depending on how these things play when they do/dont come to standard, the inflation you pay could well worth it.
