Standard enjoyers?
Why melee? Some folks don't mind a little challenge. =^[.]^=

League is just as expensive as std if you're min-maxing, and you're not forced to restart every league.
Ruthless should be [Removed by Support].

"For me ranged attacks have never been appealing. I prefer having to actually hit monsters with a sword or axe. I don't play slams. I've never played using a bow, dagger, scepter, or trap. I did use a wand and a staff to kill Dominus to the achievements. Cleave, reave, Heavy strike have been my go to skills until Boneshatter. I didn't like how Cyclone played. Swords and Axes are what I like to use. Since I have never played all those other skills or characters, I don't know how much better they are except through what people say and the times I party up with friends. I know my limits and am happy with them. In standard I can buy all the cool gear and then work it into my characters. I bought one of these last league to build a shrine driven character. There are lots of ways to make melee interesting. It is always challenging. I don't know enough to min/max very well so i jsut muddle my way thgough collecting loot and having fun. I was never a big league person. Last time I played seriously it was always standard because I didn't like the whole "restart every 3-4 months" like a lot of other people.
The whole campaign, the whole atlas, the whole atlas tree, not to mention the time spent leveling is a lot to wade through every time you make a character for a new league unless you don't play anything else. This is also assuming the first character you make is the one you stick with and aren't trying out other builds. It's a rather massive time investment to have people keep repeating ad nauseam. General discussion gaming forums are almost always a cesspit of ignorance and trolls.

On another note from my previous post in this thread... legacy items~
Expensive, yes. But really dang fun to have in the build when you get the chance I will say again though.. standard's pricing is too dang high~ "For we are not now that strength, which in old days moved Earth and Heaven. That which we are, we are; one equal strength of heroic hearts, made weak by time and fate, but strong in will: to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield." - Ulysses, Tennyson

" i agree. the most enjoyable aspect is getting there with melee or another mon-meta suboptimal build and using insane legacy items together. combining with new mirrored gear if you can afford. prices in standrard are very high for top gear, yes. some people corner the market in certain areas quite efficiently (Watchers Eye e.g.). but it goes both ways and you can make a fortune too if you buy and sell smart. |

" Very well said. Standard is really the thing to make your fantasy real even is its super inefficient like pumping melee tagged skills with legacy gear. |

" Whew... watcher's eye with the right mods are really good, but the wallet will cry Same goes for some Sublime Visions (Hatred) Super agreed on your last line, really interesting how you can make a fortune when you know your way around the game well enough "For we are not now that strength, which in old days moved Earth and Heaven. That which we are, we are; one equal strength of heroic hearts, made weak by time and fate, but strong in will: to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield." - Ulysses, Tennyson
