Standard enjoyers?
Who also enjoys fully minmaxing your characters in standard league?
What are you goals? What are your strategies to get the last couple divines to totally optimize the characters crazy gear? Last bumped on Sep 28, 2023, 8:33:59 AM

a FULLY min-maxed gear set would cost dozens of mirrors in standard though, a couple of divines wont get you far

Standard is fabulous. I spend about half my time there. No leveling! Lots of the best gear! Currency riches! Reset and rebuild characters! All the maps I want! Rebuild the Atlas and Atlas tree with one map! Play whatever aspect of the game I feel like playing that day. Did I say no leveling? I'll say it again: no leveling!

" To not be forced to restart every 3 to 4 months. Ain't nobody got time for that. I'm not much into min-maxing, standard is just more casual friendly. :) Just a lowly standard player. May RNGesus be with you.

Mostly STD player here.
I'll play a league every now and then and carry that same character on for about 2 - 3 years once they carry over into standard. That way all currency that I've built up over the almost 11 years of gameplay can contribute. One character at a time as I cannot afford to mix max multiple characters. I only play melee too, so it's many mirrors per character to get a defensive/offence balance I'm personally happy with. Or at least not awake at night trying to theory-craft. Current build is around 10 mirrors. It's nothing compared to a 3 mirror spell/bow/trap build for many, many reasons, but at least non-boneshatter melee can feel good in standard. Terrible by non-melee standards, but good by melee standards. Goal is to be able to run 250+% quantity, 100% deli, double beyond, Harb, Legion, etc, T16s on a 4 link. Then slot in IIQ and IIR while using the below flask. Doing that and farming all the loot in less than 15 minutes per map can be a challenge as it's rippy. Especially the legion bosses. I'm struggling to come up with new goals to keep me playing this game. Last edited by hmcg020#6029 on Sep 13, 2023, 11:29:38 PM

I am not all that much into minmaxing tbh, i usually only minmax as far as i have to to accomplish my goal/be able to do the content i wanna do. Going beyond that is only detrimental to my fun because things get too easy and boring.
I prefer standard because i am not forced to go through all the chores of league restarts every few months like atlas, crafting recipes, leveling etc. I've got a decent pool of items and currency available as well as a bunch of level 9x chars and can make builds i wanna try whenever i want. Just way more fun and chill than working through chores like a hamster on a wheel... |

That is the last part of me playing PoE. When every other step has been taken, then I will saddle down and just relax playing in that way. But, hopefully it will at least take 20 years, but who knows!
" I have thought of that you are talking about (but I am to new still - and maybe always will be). Where you put the line "not be fun" I agree in common that most of the players are killing the game for themself and then blame the game. My line is (right now) far from yours though even if we think in the same way. I don't see it as chores to "restart" but I am a bit of the one who wants keep developing as long as my character don't die. But playing standard HC has no end (naturally), like Football Manager. There you get to a point in the ("latest" version or the one you play) where you think, "this was it". Next save will be "FM24" for example. I havn't found that "part" in this game (yet?). The league is like (only allowed to play ten season in FM). Standard is (not true but ...) more like "you are not allowed to start over". I mean, in FM I always have my old save to look at and remember and get the feeling. If I restart in standard (PoE) I need to erase everything manually and can't "look back". (I know it would be doable, at least I think so.) But it is not the practical way. Closest I have become is to start at ssf hc instead of normal hc (league or not). But that is also a one time restart. Not a big issue of today, and maybe will not be but there is where I have my concerns. Last edited by ATIX89#4394 on Sep 14, 2023, 8:03:30 AM

Honestly, that is the only way i play the game. i dont play leagues due to time restraints and i cannot stand leveling again and again.
i also minmax very "casually" and try to slowly upgrade my hipster builds. after league merge i have to grab new, overpriced legacy gear, which is super challenging. People dont even list items after merge or dont care enough to switch leagues. And/or shit is overpriced. After all those years i consider PoB cheating for myself and prefer not to. Atm i try to improve an int stacking Herald of Agnony (lvl 36, need max lvl awakened empower and that gem lvl raising tattoo) Guardian Tank with Herald of Purity, Phantasms, Carrion Golem, the Guardian Sentinels along as backup minions and very solid defenses (13-15k es, 90max res, 130k armour, capped spellblock, 50% attack block, 4 endurance charges, 2.6k es on block, shock immunity ect). Slowly upgrading is an expensive hustle on standard tho. Last edited by DrDurdle#2646 on Sep 14, 2023, 11:40:36 AM

Standard is very expensive wahaha but I really enjoy playing there as I find it a lot more "laid-back"
