My recap of PoE vs D4 and why even still PoE is unmatched

It's not going to happen if you're just grubbing around WT2 or WT3 - if you make it to higher tier nightmare dungeons the one shots and almost perma CC aren't a lot of fun, it makes certain skills mandatory if you want any chance of survival.

There's so much wrong with the endgame at the moment, I'm not holding out much hope of a decent experience until seasons 3-4 at least.

End game? what end game fucking NM dungeons LMAO ; Helltide 175 runs? pvp in my case use a werewold stormstrike 1 shot people but it's pointless cause you already have the gear you need least I do.

There's NO FUCKING END GAME HERE where's that d4 guy or that one other guy to say there is.

Comparing apples to tangerines, but, in PoE, I don't worry much at all about one-shot deaths until much higher than mid-50 levels (in a league, not in Standard, where I can twink my characters), and I'm a filthy casual. =0[.]o=

I love how people talk about how d4 has no endgame. It does. The Game ends.

But poe isn't much better. It has more stuff but it is all so unrewarding and tedious, a problem shared by many arpgs. When I beat bosses in the atlas I feel... "that fight sucks. Did it drop anything. No. Ok whatever."

Most of the drops aren't really usable. Crafting needs a ton of setup and you are better off buying those orbs, the drops aren't good for most builds except for a few exceptions. The map favorite slot and voidstone are nice but don't really do anything.

Also most players nope out of like 70% of the content anyway. Poe just has lots of half baked ideas that sometimes comes together in a neat way. When it works it sort of works.

The focus on trade and balancing around it is the worst thing about poe. It poisons every good idea the devs had had.

The endgame grind in arpgs is optional content. But it is the worst they have to offer.

At least mapping/dungeons are fun. It didn't have to be a contest between two games. Because we all know torchlight mods are where is at ;)
( sarcasm btw. Torchlight 2 is good though)

This exactly.

Either re-roll or wait for season 1. This happens all the time for the majority of PoE players as well. You play for a few weeks, maybe a month, then repeat each league. 40/40 folks are outliers to the extreme. A fraction of 1%. D4 was never going to hold a candle to PoE in that kind of comparison. It didn't even try. D4 isn't a forever game like PoE is designed for, nor does it have 10 years of league mechanics behind it.

Its not an intelligent arguement imo, and appears to be salty for the sake of being salty.

If you are done with D4 great, you hit your goals. If not keep playing. If D4 isnt for you, wait to see how it progresses, or move on.

Quite a shame that even grim dawn offers more build options and more diversity in general, along with content.

2016 game vs 2023 game go figure lol

Until they burn out after a two or three months like they did in lost ark hoho

Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

So this is not a 'D4 is crap' post, but a legit question;

Have you ever felt in legit danger during a non-boss encounter?

I've died many times from non-boss encounters. For example, when I was level 52 or so I went up to tier 3. I got wiped out many times by just a few monsters. After I equipped a few tier 3 items then I stopped dying a few times an hour. D4 is actually very design controlled balance between monster, character, equipment etc.

There's a difference between being a forever game and nothing past finishing the campaign game though, you should be able to have some sort of enjoyable progression past level 70. Season 1 will change everything I'm sure, hopium is one helluva drug.

I think they'd be better off forgetting about seasons for 6-12 months while they put back everything they had to cut out to meet the release date.

Well subjective opinions and playing armchair dev is peak forum posting. D4 will be more than ok, no hopium needed lol. Don’t be naive.

Season 1 scope looked good to me for their first iteration. Zero downsides, with new items, narrative content, a boss, and a new malignant mechanic. The fact that they have a robust roadmap spanning multiple years and multiple expansions seems positive to me.

If someone wants to be down on D4 and pessimistic; that’s fine.
