My recap of PoE vs D4 and why even still PoE is unmatched
I know it may sounds crazy but...
...it is possible to like both games. For me, the fact that I can play D4 and have PoE2 beta date in the same year is fantastic. One of the best years for aRPG fans IMO. As for the game itself - After leveling two characters to lvl 100 (both times Druid. One SC one HC) I think D4 has a REALLY good foundation to build upon. It's already a much better game than D3 and if Blizz will have a proper focus it will be a fantastic aRPG. I think game director Joe Shely is a right man for the job and I hope he'll continue to lead D4 into the future. My biggest gripe with the game was actually... INCREDIBLE amount of, rather toxic, new players to the genre of loot based aRPGs flooding Diablo subreddits demanding and complaining about EVERYTHING. Seasons? Get rid of them! Difficult content? Nerf it! I want all on silver platter! Pinnacle boss being actual, interesting fight? WTH! I'm a 156yo dad with 56 kids! I don't have time for that?! And before someone says PoE 2 community won't face the same issue... You can already see PoE subreddit getting complains from new/mmo players that just drifted from D4 looking for a new thing to complain about... Give it time. With big marketing push that GGG is planning for PoE2 we'll see the same thing on PoE subreddit. Anyway - My point is. Diablo 4 is a really good aRPG with potential to be a great aRPG. I think having both D4 and PoE/PoE2 is awesome and I can't wait for seasons and leagues. Between these two games I'm pretty much covered when it comes to gaming in the near and not so near, future. |

I haven't played D4 in about a week. I reached the "endgame" portion of it (T4) and while I was playing, all I could keep asking myself is "Why am I playing?"
I didn't feel like there was anything to go after. uber Lilith, while a difficult pinnacle fight, didn't really have anything I was interested in. I finished all the Reknown, the Altars, and I'm only a few quests short of 100% in each area. For me, there's nothing left to offer. I then fired up PoE again and started messing around in Ruthless (HC SSF as well because, why not). I like the limited drop aspect of Ruthless. It doesn't feel as overwhelming. I'm still getting reacquainted with everything and there's still a boatload of stuff I have yet to see, but I actually was having fun while playing. Even when I hopped on my RF Chieftain to redo my Atlas, blasting through that stuff just felt satisfying and anjoyable. For me, until they do "something" with D4, I'll be playing PoE. Maybe I'll even get to see some of the Bosses here finally. |

I really like both games. PoE probably has more going on, especially for folks that have far too much gaming time on their hands. It has been wisely mentioned by others but I'll just emphasis it. PoE has been around for many years and improved on for many years. Hopefully D4 will get continued development attention from Blizzard. Thereby improving the D4 game content in the future. I'm certain that GGG will be doing that. That is good for us ARPG gamers!!!

I have a sneaking suspicion that Blizz purposefully gave players no stash space and no character slots because they're planning to sell extras as microtransactions. They're just waiting for the heat to die down on the "it's not pay to win" and bam they'll introduce stash tab packs.
It really feels like the development endgame is to make D4 free to play but with paid expansions and paid convenience and pay to win in ~2 years down the road. |

One thing I love about Diablo 4 is it doesn't have complicated stuff that I will never touch.

One thing I love about D4 is that my first character is currently level 55 and the character has not yet suffered a one-shot death.

" So this is not a 'D4 is crap' post, but a legit question; Have you ever felt in legit danger during a non-boss encounter? |

" It's not going to happen if you're just grubbing around WT2 or WT3 - if you make it to higher tier nightmare dungeons the one shots and chain CC aren't a lot of fun, it makes certain skills mandatory if you want any chance of survival. There's so much wrong with the endgame at the moment, I'm not holding out much hope of a decent experience until seasons 3-4 at least. Last edited by Randall#0850 on Jul 6, 2023, 5:37:23 AM
