My recap of PoE vs D4 and why even still PoE is unmatched

Man, I really do love visiting PoE and D4 forums, such a fun time!

In my opinion, both games are excellent and cater to different types of players.

Whether you're a fan or not, the release of Diablo 4 provides an opportunity for game developers like GGG to up their game and produce even better overall gaming experiences. Otherwise, Diablo 4 may attract players with its captivating gameplay and take money .

D4 is a better game for casual players or people who dont like having to theorycraft every aspect of the game. Most people dont want to put up with all the "friction, anticipation, and prestige" that PoE is based around. Spending 100s of hours in PoB, trying dozens of builds over 1000s of in game hours, and still not being able to make a really good character by yourself doesnt sound very inviting from the outside.

It's more what d3 should've been if it was still made for the casual audience but still had much better gameplay, graphics, art style, less clunkiness and most importantly designed to be a live service game out of the box to be updated regularly with lots of content in exchange for mtx. Similar to poe leagues and much more than what d3 ever had. They've stated many times that d3 was never meant to have seasons beyond what d2 had it was suppose to be a box price game u play and move on but with the rise of poe they decided to update it just enough to keep the casuals coming back but not enough to bring in a large audience as the hype had long since died down. This has the potential to be blizzard's new Overwatch in terms of constant updates and revenuer that hopefully don't get a diablo 4 2 update to it.

Content bloat is also something really underestimated in these long-term live service games.

I know I play some Warframe off and on every now and then, and you log on and your bombarded with so much system and content bloat you dont even know where to begin. That kind of stuff can and does turn players off.

Now the type of person playing PoE might not feel that way, but even me as a long-time, off and on, PoE player, I cant even play leagues anymore. Having to run those same 10 acts for the 900th time, and then you run into system bloat out the wazoo, all this stuff you have to reset back up, the atlas, the league mechanics, find out what league mechanics are new you missed, find out what changed, etc.

A lot of players just wanna play the game, and I feel like this is very heavily overlooked by the hardcore PoE crowd who think D4 just stands no chance.

I'll agree I'm way more in the middle, and it does feel kind of pointless to do most of the stuff in D4 atm,(I need leaderboards, Grifts, economy, reasons for being besides character progression), but the 10 years of content bloat can and does turn people off. Ive experienced it in games I enjoy to the point Ive just quit shortly after login before in some of them. The last time I fired up Warframe and got to my ship I was like wtf is all this and logged back off, lol.

Play diablo 4 go run a dungeon meet like 100 monsters and 3 elite packs go play PoE get through 1000 monsters and 30 rare packs PoE actually feels like ACTION RPG GAME while Diablo 4 is walking simulator through lifeless dungeons

Not really. He's very biased, preferring PoE. I have no bias, and to me, D4 is funner. I'm seeing a lot of hyperbole and favoritism. Admitadly PoE has had many more years to add content but even in its current state, D4 is enough for me to wash my hands of PoE. You know what Chris Wilson said recently about losing players? He's not worried about it, they only need 90,000 players ( or some such number) to stay afloat.
That is so such a tone deaf thing to say. His objective is to stay afloat, not make a good game.
