Don't mistaken bad QoL / UX with "game mechanics".

Game mechanics are supposed to be hard. QoL / UX is supposed to be as easy as possible.

PoE game mechanics are not 'hard'... The restricted access to equipment makes them hard.

You can argue mechanics 'should' be hard even with access to equipment not being restricted by limiting trade, but that would require a whole new balancing of the game, and one that would require GGG to sacrifice the majority of their players, the ones who doesn't trade... They wouldn't be able to play at all with a harder game balancing.

Trade would become a requirement to playing, and you'd never find anything except currency you could use. That would be the death of the game, exactly as happened in D3. To support easy trade, the game need to be designed from the start with that in mind. PoE isn't, and it can't be retrofitted later.
I could imagine Cadiro appearing 2 months after a temporary league started to help us trade forgotten treasures, then once again disappear when the league ends. And by forgotten treasures I mean items that have been 2 months or longer listed in trade. And by helping us trade I mean it could be a bit different for each league, for example AH in some leagues and a dealer where we pay a variably large transaction fee in other leagues. Or just to spite price cougers automatically let us automatically buy the cheapest listed item when searching only with a name for their listed price. :D

The benefit for this approach I see is that it does bring life and opportunity to trade to increase the player numbers near the end of the league. Also it is something that GGG can experimented on to find ways they can improve the trading experience.

I'm very new to Path of Exile and I've learned quite quickly that Path of Exile 2 isn't a new title, but will be an update to the base game.

The main issue I have in Path of Exile is the trading. The trading itself is quite intuitive, but it could be far more enjoyable. I totally get that the game is designed on a monetization effort of more stuff equals users feeling the need to purchase more tabs, so an auction house could lead to users selling those items faster than purchasing new tabs etc.

It's a risk assessment, but I would gladly take an auction house added to the game. It could just be premium tabs that automatically collect on your behalf based on current prices or something. Just seems like a lot of work for something so common in market video games titles.

As a new user I'm mostly passing up items because I don't know what the values is and an auction house could keep me playing for longer.

I also don't like to deal with trading as a new player because I don't want to figure out the exchange rates and would rather just not deal with it. I can't count the times I didn't want to deal with trading and/ or a full stash and just quit Path of Exile and played something else.
