Why is pathofmatth banned?

That totally depends; is he/was he a sponsored streamer? Did he take money from GGG to promote the game? What's in that "contract"?

If I was a developer, paying streamers to promote my game, just to see that they are doing the direct opposite on stream, I would ban them too. But I would make that perfectly clear in the contract.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Yeah we don't know and we won't find out probably. Maybe I'm wrong, and I don't want to make up stories, but I would say it is likely that there is more to the story than we know.
To sum it up:

- GGG implement severe changes to core mechanics they do not communicate
- The whole league is full of design issues that have a destructive impact on fun
- the community is ignited, reddit is burning, forums are burning
- GGG's CEO puts out statements on a daily basis ignoring the core issues the community has
- streamers are upset, the community is upset
- since the game means much to anyone, emotions are involved
- although streamers are heavily relying on the fruition of the game they're specialized into, they are forced to observe a decision making process of their game company that destroys trust and fun
- they can only observe it passively although their own business is connected to that bad decision making of that company
- the amount of anger regarding GGG and especially regarding Chris, who even admits a huge amount of 'stubborness' in his latest posting, is vastly acknowledgable all over the net
- a streamer, who is responsible for bringing so much people to the game is frustrated and is venting to let out the frustration about all that cringy stuff going on, is for just a second not the 24/7/365 nice guy and grumbles
- the company, which sew distrust and frustration in the first place just bans him

I dont know what you're all talking about: the company is looking so weak by using this move, it's turning the responsibilities upside down. Yet another decision that escalates the situation instead of fixing it.

Path of Matth is one of that streamers that pointed out the right problems with the game at it's current state. Path of Matth is literally all of us: His voice is slammed down, his questions unheard, his doubt about the direction of the game just muted. GGG reacts like an dictator deporting his critics.
"GGG implement severe changes to core mechanics they do not communicate"

Yep. This is where the whole thing started. 3 months ago. And then they did it again, and then they did it again, then they did it again... then they did it... etc.

No, he isn't.

He is abusive, childish, and doesn't know how to vent frustration in a way that isn't sociopathic. If he is you, you need to reassess yourself.

No, they don't. It doesn't matter how annoyed or frustrated by the current state of the game you are, nothing warrants the behavior displayed. This is the same as some of the threads popping up here yesterday. Doesn't matter how bad you think the game is, it could have become the worst game in existence. It still wouldn't be ok to call someone a braindead bald fucking retard. This is doubly true when you are a highly visible member of the community.

It doesn't depend on that at all. It's not remotely an overstep. Pathofmathh directly insulted in a highly derrogatory manner the director of the company, as well as its developers. Expecting not to get banned when saying the things he said is nonsensical. What benefit is there to GGG by leaving him with access to the game?

He said it on an open, public platform. Even if you want to fallaciously apply "freedom of speech" (which affects only what the government can do to you anyway), freedom of speech does not mean freedom from judgment and social recourse.

I have read what he said, if you think that was insulting then welcome to real life^^.

Also freedom of speech means exactly what you think its not.

It's petty. Take Asmongold for example. He has said 100x worse things about Bobby Kotick over and over, to a vastly larger audience than PoM will ever have, and he's never been suspended for it. He's one of countless streams that trash developers and executives when things go wrong, often in unsavory ways.

Going on to another platform and punishing players for what they say there is unprecedented and disturbing. It effectively makes GGG employees moderators of Twitch chat, a product they should have no control or input into.

Freedom of speech means the government can't limit what you say, except in cases that they can. In America. Most of the time.

Everything else is nonsense that people spew to justify saying stupid shit. It doesn't protect you from other people thinking you're an arsehole, nor does it protect you from companies taking ire at you and banning you from their services.

If you read what PathOfMatth said on the video on twitch and you think it is an ok thing to say to another person, you are a sociopath.

Asmongold should absolutely have been banned for some of the things he has said. It doesn't make GGG moderators of twitch; PathofMathh has not lost his access to twitch. It makes them moderators of their own game, which is what they always have been. Act like a fucking decent human being and it will absolutely never be a problem.

so if they have right to ban anyone cant they just ban anyone for different opinion no matter how much money you spent on the game?

They could.
