Wouldnt touch D4 a 10f barge pole personally. Not because Im a POE fanboy or will still be playing POE when D4 comes out. Just not going to be paying for a full-priced game with an in-game store for MTX's. Plus a battle pass.
But on your point, Quin will 1000000% be playing D4 even if it's like DI. |

The premium tiers of season pass allows to earn platinum to spend for themetical season based cosmetic armor sets etc. What i'm personally curious is to what extent their version of leagues will be game changing in regards of new mechanics and content. I don't expect right from the start to get juiced leagues but after one year there should be something significant in each season or else its D3 watered down seasons all again. The Season Pass has Free Tiers and Premium Tiers. Throughout the pass players can earn a variety of rewards for free, just by playing. At any point during the Season, players can purchase the Premium Pass to unlock the ability to earn Premium rewards tiers containing seasonally themed Cosmetics and Premium Currency. The Season Pass awards cosmetics. Like the Shop, these don’t affect gameplay. Additionally, certain cosmetic types are exclusive to the Season Pass. The Season Pass awards Premium Currency. Players can spend this currency on cosmetics offered in the shop. The Season Pass awards free Season Boosts. Boosts accelerate players’ progress for the duration of the Season. For example, a Season Boost might accelerate XP earned to make leveling multiple characters within a season faster. Because they affect gameplay, Season Boosts are free rewards for all players. We want to be clear that players can’t unlock Season Boosts more quickly through purchases--there is no way to unlock more boosts, or boosts at a faster pace, by spending money. Players can purchase Tiers-but they won’t speed up getting Season Boosts. Players can’t upgrade Season Boosts just by purchasing Tiers, because they’ll also have to earn level milestones to apply them. All other Tier rewards can be unlocked instantly by purchasing Tiers. In other words, there’s no way to shortcut getting Season Boosts by buying Tiers; they must be earned. The Season Journey accelerates Season Pass progression. " 100% this! Long ago, gaming companies found out people will pay more via MTX- they tried it and, it worked. Is it evil? I do not think so. Companies exist to make money and show a profit. Now that said, designing player frustration into a game that can be overcome by simply swiping your CC AFTER paying a box price, that's when I have a problem. I'm not saying D4 IS going to have designed frustration but, I am saying they have to prove it because I do not trust Acti-Blizz AT ALL after Diablo Immortal. Guys. We play PoE. 60-90$ supporter packs every 3 months, 400$+ yearly supporter packs, loot boxes every league, 42$+ armor packs (without the 20$ + wings), 15-20$ skill effects.
Getting angry that D4 will have single box price and then an MTX shop is ridiculous. I'd also like to point out that D4 is already doing MTX better then PoE; There are full on HD armor sets you can just FIND in D4 and xmog to them. Diablo 4's 'base' items don't look like complete garbage (from everything they've shown), so you're even less incentivized to just go pay 42$ for a single set of armor in PoE (again, that's JUST for armor, no weapons, no back attachments, no skill effects / aura effects ect). Anyway I know I know everyone here just wants to be mad all the time, so ignore what I've said and just call me a Blizzard shill. Which I'm absolutely not, but I realize some feelings have just been hurt. D4 has a MTX Preview so you can see exactly what you are getting. Some MTX sets are class bound because it might not make sense thematically on other classes. Interesting.

Quin69 already knew way back in 2019 about the MTX model of D4.
From Techradar news: During a conversation at BlizzCon 2019, Twitch streamer Quin69 (via PCGamesN(opens in new tab)) had a conversation with Diablo 4's lead designer Joe Shely during which it was said that the game will likely have microtransactions but that they'll be cosmetic in nature (so no selling Power) and that there'll also be expansions on top of the base game. |

How is pure cosmetic greedy? Because it's already a full priced game? Considering Diablo IV will be a live service so regular free updates and servers also costs money to run i think cosmetic mtx are okay.
