D4 Monetization leak = GGG can safely push POE 2 to 2026 without any worry at all
Called it in one of these "D4 will kill PoE QQ " threats.
Blizzard are just milking that Immortal cash cow. There is NO WAY on Earth, that they will not use the same scam in D$ .... "There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die. " ~ Hunter S Thompson ~

" The numbers are exactly what it shows. Diablo Immortal made what, 100M $? There are epople who spent oveer 100k $ on it. Which means the game needs thousand whalesl ike that and it already made that. Thousand people from milions taht play the game. DI has 30 milion downloads. Lets say 10% of that actually plays the game. Thats 3 milion players. If so manu people are in love with P2W, they would at least spend SOME money on the game, dont you think? 100$ is nothing for someone who loves P2W right? Can you do simple math? Majority of 3M is 1.5M +1. If in fact majorty of players would love P2W, even spending pennies (100$ for people who love P2W is pennies) this game would already make 150M, 50% more than it did, and thats not even counting those "giga whale" who spend dozens if not hundreds thousans $. Numbers dont lie. You just need to know how to read them. Last edited by Aynix#7757 on Aug 15, 2022, 12:51:33 PM

" Haha wow. $60 fucking bucks. My man here with five figures worth of PoE add-ons and $60 offends their sensibilities. You can take the "win" here bud, there is no reasoning with that logic. "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."

Yea, people really like that p2w :D E: In that context one of the blizzbois also mentioned that ABOVE 95% of people actually play f2p somewhere... "Glattes Eis, ein Paradeis, für den, der gut zu tanzen weiß" - F. Nietzsche Last edited by Clownkrieger#0827 on Aug 15, 2022, 1:06:09 PM

Full price title with cash shop is still a big nono for me. Especially since we all know that it wont just feature cosmetics. Many wont feel like buying cosmetics in a full price title, so they will add some $extras$ to it.

"Winning" is looking better than everyone around you. "Gameplay" is turning your character into a badass both visually and physically. That is the essence of the RPG genre. For decades you would buy a full priced game and gradually progress through and unlock the best looking appearances, that was the carrot on the stick to finish the game, your end reward, looking as strong as your character was.
The core F2P model takes the most desirable aspect of RPGs, becoming that character you want, strips it out and sells it. It works because that part is so important, because so many people are willing to pay for it even though it's "optional." Combing a full priced game and locking the best character appearance options behind an additional paywall, is quite frankly immoral. It's not "just optional cosmetics," it's the soul of the game, and it's what Blizzard expects will make them filthy rich as so many console players pay to win the fashion game that has been gutted from the box sale and portioned off into a battlepass and MTX store. Will it work? Short term, absolutely. Long term? WoW used to be pretty popular, then they started selling cosmetic armor, and then they released a major update with a new in-game armor tier that was basic reskins. You know WoW, the full priced game with full priced expansions and a mandatory subscription fee. That's about the time the FF14 servers exploded and they had to stop selling it for a while (not that FF14 is particularly better in this case, but people had to go somewhere). TLDR: Not surprised, sounds like Blizzard. Last edited by Astasia#2760 on Aug 15, 2022, 4:04:10 PM

" Because F2P relies on MTX sales. It's the whole monetization model. A full priced game does not. A F2P game sells you MTXs because they HAVE to. A full priced game sells you MTX because they CAN, and wants the best from two worlds. I struggle to see how people are unable to see the difference. " You can very much LIKE the game, even though you just tolerate the monetization model. Don't mix the feelings about a game with the feelings about the monetization model. " I don't get it. So Kirac's pass which is most likely going to be in every league at $30USD is basically the same as the Battlepass. Cash shop currency for boxes...does PoE not have this right now? Oh yeah it does. Every league to. 1 armor set in this game costs $40-$100. Tencent is just as bad as Blizz. |
