D4 Monetization leak = GGG can safely push POE 2 to 2026 without any worry at all

i find it hilarious that people thinking blizzard will constantly update diablo 4 and expand it by adding more new stuff and content wich they probably wont they either gonna release 1 or 2 dlc ask 30-40$ for them and thats it have fun farming the very same 2 things in the game like rifts and bounties kekw or they will add content constantly but only through dlc like worlf of warcraft so you will spend 40$ for new dlc every year
If the boxes only have cosmetics I'm fine with it and will still try the game.
If there's any type of P2W that clearly boost character power(Not stashtabs et.c.) I'm not going to buy D4.

I mean i despise it with every fiber in my being but seeing these numbers in moblile games i seem to be in the minority here.
Now you could argue thats the mobile market but it still shows loads of ppl apperently have no issue with p2w.

its kinda rly sad. when like in few years we buy a single player game for 70$ and it have mtx/exp boost/mounts thats cost 20$ and gate content for addition 10$. thats kinda scary but thats a gaming future

I know some "Blizzard/Diablo boys" in here are very critical to the obnoxious prices in the PoE store, even though PoE is F2P. I wonder how they will react to the same prices in a AAA priced game. My guess? They will find some stupid way to be OK with it.

Not sure if I qualify as a Blizzard/Diablo boy - not been a boy for decades, just for starters - but I intend to react to gross cosmetic prices in an AAA game the way I react in PoE.
I'm glad someone else is willing to pay those, because I'm not interested. It's just a shame I can't escape seeing them.

I'm not pleased if mounts are paid extras, rather than unlockable/free content, since that looks like a QoL must. Then, I thought the same about specialised stash tabs.

But it's P2W - or even worse, P2P - that is an absolute no for me. I'm OK paying for a game. Or voluntarily supporting it once I've seen how good it is (was). But the DI method where further progression past about P80-P100 seems to be locked behind purchasing loot boxes (Legendary Crests) is a no-no. I won't play D4 if that concept is in, and I'm pleased that doesn't seem to be the case.

Funny how these reassuring "leaks" come out just after the DI outrage.

Doesn't look like damage control *at all*.

As for believing there won't be any kind of P2W mechanic in D4... I mean, really ?

Just how many dozens times does a company like Blizzard have to scam you before you wake the fuck up ??
Please. No more labyrinth.
Considering the history of the OP I definitely wouldnt be tossing out memes about pricing and mtx packs. That's the real joke and scam.

Also does anyone in the gaming market really think this is an issue? Like at all?

$60 one time purchase with optional MTX after that? Who cares about $15 battle pass, that's totally reasonable, have you seen PoE's price point? And the cash shop, please, GGG has the highest priced optional cosmetics of any arpg in history.

I mean, I had to laugh at some of these comments from people that have spent thousands on PoE. Do better. The players will decide.

I get that this is the PoE forum, but really this thread is kinda embarrassing, especially coming from a game that is literally entirely monetized by mtx. Hell stashes alone are more than D4 will be priced for their entire game release.

Yeah, I tend to separate F2P games and AAA priced games. When I play a F2P game, I know that the game isn't free. F2P =/= Freeware. So I very much expect there to be A LOT of stupid MTX shenanigans going on. When I pay 50-$60 for a game, I usually expect to avoid those MTX shenanigans. If a game charges 50-$60 AND expects/wants me to pay for "bling", I tend to walk away. But I'm starting to realize that I may be living in the past on that one.

P2W in terms of direct power/XP is a no-no, like D:I. I'm not touching those game with a ten foot pole. Stash tabs in PoE is also over the line, but I can live with it. Personally, I don't think D4 will have much P2W. These doomsayers that separate the PC/Console market with the mobile market, and think D4 will have a lot of P2W just because D:I has it, are way off (I think).

What D4 may introduce, which also is a no-no for me, are XP weekend and content gated behind party play.

Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

There are moe pople who despise P2W than those who like it. Doesnt mean there are not whales out there who are willing to spend hunderds of thousands $$ on a pixels.

Looking at the entire gaming landscape are you sure about that?

Many games have P2W-light, like timesavers or QoL. This P2W ranges from games like FFXIV to Warframe, to WoW, ESO, Black Desert, and more. (Not to mention single player games)

Also regions definitely take this issue differently on a general West vs East comparison.

Anyways I'm not sure that there a clear distinction on P2W, especially in the mobile markets, and generally speaking P2W means a whole spectrum of different things to different people.

Yes Im 102% sure. Just because people tolerate it and play the games (because there is nothing else to play) doesnt mean they like it.
