...I'm Australian. Any and all IHOP jokes beyond 'fat people eat there because the food there makes you fat' go way over my head, I'm afraid. And that's not even very funny.

Fair enough, although I was mostly referring to the bits about the Oblivion horse armour and how people still bought it even though they couldn't show it off in a multiplayer setting.

I heard about that, but only 'heard'. I've been known to buy single player aesthetic upgrades too, but sometimes I have to try to think like a not-me player. Not easy, obviously...
But not-me players will make or break PoE and GGG. Ten of me is still less financially advantageous than 200 not-mes who spend 10-20 bucks each. And PoE is online, so the hypothetical horse can at least be shown off in the camps and when playing with others. We shall see. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

" It would be great to see PoE succeed. I haven't played it but from what I have seen it looks to be what D3 should have been. D3 stepped out of it's own genre. PoE looks like it has taken it in a new direction. Being an aussie and working for a Kiwi, I'd love to see an "eastern islander" (lol) dev succeed and kick international butt. I'm rooting for you's bro! The biggest worry for myself is what happens if GGG fail and the servers are shut down. This has happened to titan quest and hellgate london for example. But in these cases, owners of the games can continue playing the game with their characters and items. If this happens to GGG and the servers go then PoE is vapourware and players loose everything. Game over. That is the biggest worry to a new player like myself standing 10 feet back with credit card in hand. I want to try the game but do I pay? How much time, effort and money dare I risk with a first time dev? How much of a risk is it that I will loose? Last edited by Asmodeous666#7952 on May 22, 2012, 8:58:11 PM

" First of all stop with the silliness, D3 is precisely the game 'it should have been' as has been shown by it being bloody good fun. If I wanted to play D2 Id play D2, I wanted a new game, a new experience... so please stop with the 'they changed the game to much' rubbish. Its still hella fun to play - check. Its still got loot - check. It is D3 and its exactly what the devs and millions of beta players wanted from it. Oh and seriously, aside from the skill system and passive tree POE is about as much as a copy of D2 as you can get, not that theres anything wrong in that but it doesnt take anything in a new direction. That said Id also like to correct you for mentioning Hellgate, that failed cause it was an abortion of a game. I was there during pre-launch and right till they switched the servers off, and it was an awful game on so many levels, it dispelled the myth in one fell swoop that everything Blizzard north did was amazing, as it was made by many people from Blizzard north... It was literally an exercise in how not to make a game, and how not to build a financial model. TQ failed cause it just wasn't very good. I know it holds peculiar cult status as it was the only D2 alternative for years, but it was a pretty poor game. Like it or not poor games fail, good games succeed. Same will go for POE. I firmly believe GGG will have to be more mercenary with the noble cash shop ideals but if they can square that with the community I Have no doubt this game will find a place for itself in the gaming world. Oh, Rod, you're always so entertaining. Usually at your own expense, but that's okay -- I admire that, and often try to follow such an example. After all, if we can't laugh at ourselves, what right have to laugh at others? I spent over a grand on this game! What a twit. It's not even out yet. It could sink tomorrow. But I'm having fun and I believe that people who provide me with fun deserve something for it.
In your case, I'm just going to highlight the highlight of your last offering. "Like it or not poor games fail, good games succeed." Ha. Hahahahahaha. PS Try to be less of a prick to newcomers, okay? " I disagree -- he's given some very good feedback about end-game around the forum. If nothing else, he very much understands the problems PoE may face when the time comes to implement 'real' end-game material that isn't Maelstrom of Chaos. In the ranks of our resident 'D3 fanboys', Rod isn't even in the top ten most zealous, I think. Either way, he said something silly here and I've called it out. Said other silly things too, especially about Titan Quest, but that's a matter of opinion and not worth arguing. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

" ^^ Exactly Rod has valid points and I believe more people feel and agree than you think. See I don't like the double standard here, I like both games not one more than the other, and I will be playing both, the sooner you let people express them selves the better off the forums will be. Quote " No one takes Rod serious anyways, he's out resident blizzard fanboi we just keep around for amusement. Just like thinking you own the forums is amusing. Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb. Last edited by necromuso#3475 on May 22, 2012, 10:18:12 PM
