...dude, you keep quoting me and replying inside that. That's what makes it weird.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

" Is that all, lol, thanks for pointing that out. I was at work and in a hurry but will try to improve. Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb. Last edited by necromuso#3475 on May 23, 2012, 10:19:47 AM

" Why?, and why would you want to play it solo, playing with 2,3,4 people is the most fun I have had in a while. Stop living in the past there's not future in it. Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. I think what Charan meant was that he enjoys a solo play before going into a multiplayer mode. He definitely doesn't live in the past as I've played with him just a bunch of hours ago.
BTW, I also want to see just how much D3 sucks, but I won't pay for that. As for getting D3 offline, Charan, I wouldn't bet on it. All the collision logic is server-side. I doubt we'll see the pirates coding a server back-end. Perhaps if they somehow manage to phisically steal it from Blizzard. Personally? I'll wait for a friend to give me his account when they get bored. It's bound to happen, *grin*. My article promoting PoE:

" It's fairly obvious I could go out and buy D3 right now if I wanted. But yknow, I haven't given Blizzard a single cent since they launched World of Warcraft and I never will again. This is amusing since I've bought over ten copies of Diablo 1 in the past (4 were for me as replacements; I played it THAT much), probably 2-3 SC+BWs, at least a couple Wc2s. They were the days... I like to play a game solo if possible to take my time with it, explore, learn the ropes and generally not embarrass myself when the time comes to play with others. I like to play a game at my own pace the first time through and I think to do otherwise is to sell your experience short, even if you're with another like-minded gamer. My reasons for not doing this on D3 in a private game need not be repeated. I have said more than enough there (for the newcomers: the skill system, RMAH, etc etc, blah blah). By the same token, I find the global chat of PoE the perfect counterbalance to single player play. I am at once playing 'by myself', at my own pace, but also connected to a larger community. It reminds me very much of my guild chat in Gw1, which of course I could participate in even if I were very much alone in the depths of the Maguuma jungle or lost in the Arid Sea. necromuso, I'm going to ask you to back off a bit. You seem to have forgotten that I spent a very long time justifying myself and my decisions in another thread. I do not 'live in the past' -- Guild Wars 2 is coming and I'll be there; Path of Exile brings what is to me the best of the past ARPGs into the present and thus it looks towards the future as well. I may joke about my nostalgic factor and my age, but neither give anyone the right to say I 'live in the past.' Seriously. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

" How far into inferno are you? Just curious because there is not very much in the way of choice when you get there... just as you put it 'the illusion of choice' " I thought HGL was actually a great game idea. Unfortunately it didn't have the financial backing needed and got rushed onto the market. I could agree that their business sense is not as good as current Blizz, but I much prefer their game design. Question... If it was such an 'abortion of a game' why in hell were you 'there during pre-launch and right till they switched the servers off'? Last edited by thepmrc#0256 on May 23, 2012, 6:33:25 PM

" Whooaa there big boy... when exactly was I a prick?? And btw way to quote one part of a post and miss out the important bit, I then went on to say I had no doubt POE would find its place in the gaming world and be successful. I was directing the 'poor games fail' statement at the people who are baffled why games like HG:L and TQ went under, believing some odd conspiracy is at work and not the obvious truth which was that they were unpopular and therefor loss making games. End of story... But clearly POE doesnt fall into that category, even in its current state its better than both those games put together. Ultimately I stand by what I said, good games succeed, bad games fail. Anyone who believes otherwise is naive and/or a fantasist. " Im not in inferno, are you?? And if you are I find that odd cause I swear you are the person a week or two ago saying how bad D3 looked. I might be mixing you up with someone else, but im sure that was you. But no matter, this view that only a few builds work on inferno is flawed for a few reasons. 1) Nobody has been playing long enough to have gear good enough to make unusual builds work yet. 2) Clearly some builds are optimal and are going to be easier than others thats just par for the course 3) I can find as many people posting that actually that view is wrong on the D3 forums as whiners posting Inferno is broken. As an example some people say NM is to hard, im cakewalking it, so forgive me if I dont take the word of a vocal minority about inferno difficulty cause everything else they whined about (post and pre launch) has all been wrong so far. Also as a final note, if you are right im sure it will be tweaked, Blizz posted saying they are tracking stats and keeping their eyes on higher difficulties but dont want to act to soon. Im sure it will be tuned down if your right. Just like D2s Hell difficulty was over many many iterations. " It was an awful game. It took place in a plethora of grey/brown corridors fighting crappy looking enemies with awful uninspired combat and classes. It took a wonderful rich city like London and made it look about the most boring and tedious place on earth, it ruined a great concept. Cause thats all it ever was, a great concept. It was never a great game. As for why I was there, you misunderstand. I supported the game pre-launch for ages, was an active member of the community on a dedicated fansite. When the game released and it became clear it was bloody awful and managed/run by a bunch of monkeys who had no clue what they were doing (including double charging people, not charging people etc etc) I started to post my concerns I was outright banned along with many others cause Flasghip basically blackmailed the fansites owner (we later found out) We then set up the short lived but hilarious 'flagshipped.com' which was a satirical site basically feeding off the scraps of the total clusterf**k that the game had now become, employees not being paid, complaining, leaking information to us and others about how bad the company/game was, partners sueing them for rights breaches... etc etc. So when I say I was there throughout, I was, but I wasnt playing it for that time, I stopped after my initial 3 month sub ran out which I couldn't cancel. Next question? |

I am on A4 inferno... as I said I would be playing the game. All my friends are playing, it has a real money AH??!!? those are the draws for me. I still have serious problems with the game design... but yeah, get to inferno and then tell me about all of the limitless choice in D3 lols. I guess you might be able to progress in Inferno without using specific skill sets if you had massively outgeared the areas... only problem is in order to 'out gear' A1 Inferno you would need to be farming A3-4 inferno.... or buying from the AH...
Oh and I still enjoyed HGL and wished that it would have had the development time and financial backing of a major publisher. Last edited by thepmrc#0256 on May 23, 2012, 7:08:07 PM
