Four reason i think Diablo IV migh have the edge against poe(2)
If GGG can overcome the absurd one shot mechanics and actually make the game possible for the plethora of invalid builds which currently exist AND make a PvP environment which is enticing for the P2P community then it should be fine.
That will be the deal breaker. I've said it before and for years have said this is the case. |

D4 will be a crap polished turd version of D3. I call D4 , D3 resurrected.
Last Epoch might be good when MP comes out, I could care less about D4 blizzard i used to love from the early 2000's is long gone. |

" Ye I want all that too. Stop the 1 hit baloney. Stop making 1 skill spam builds viable, equivalent to a phone mobile game thumb smasher. Then make pvp as pvp evolves duels and makes your game less about passives. More active new gems for pvp duels & fair new pvp scaling that also helps the pve be less 1 hit. Party features & party open field zones so that all the popular pc streamers will review or re review this game. What will make Lazy Peon review this game for a 2nd time? Ye Party zone features, what else, duh. THO IS GGG gonna do that this next league? Why is everything delayed for POE 2 as for new features? Instead of just league mechanic re skins & a few new gems thrown our way. Why not something more groundbreaking per league. They have the funds for this. Like I said PS2 is making whole new water continent with x10 less cash shop funds, so GGG has funds to do more than just some rehashed league skin mechanics & only a few new items per league, that's like 10% to 20% or less of GGG's funds per league spent. They still have 80% to work with, if all their doing is league reskins & a handful of new items. I suppose they worked on the skill tree renewal which was dope, tho the atlas renewal isn't as amusing. The thing is nobody trusts Blizzard, theirs no good mmo's out or anytime within the next year or so. So nothing is out. & Blizzard's trust is dead. So POE either fills these shoes or doesn't. & I'm kinda over D2 style gameplay as far as limited online experiences. I like dungeon zones, atmosphere, loot & all that dark d2 styled stuff. Tho if a RPG doesn't evolve its ways to interact with the broader playerbase, then ye it IS trapped at the 1990's. Just for the sake of someone needed to stay at the lvl of a 1990's ARPG forever. I don't. I don't want to. ARPG doesn't mean half single player game, half multiplayer. That may be how it was for 1990's. Tho ARPG really just means tiny hero action skill rpg. Styled off of D2. How that expands should be sandbox, not limitations to stay 1990's genre or design forever. Maybe D2 was a good start, tho it's time to evolve. & Evolve means right now, this next league & the league after. Not waiting for POE 2 to solve all these lack of groundbreaking features problems. For the mass amount of streamers who would review this game if you gave their chat something to piggyback off of & POE doesn't. It doesn't provide jack for streamers to talk about past 1 week of a test run or 4 weeks of a streamer POE test run trying to game out. Then the streamer quits POE & never returns. After the streamer may mention POE for like 10 secs, saying " YE poe is a good game ". Tho they don't stream POE anymore, due to it being a loners game. Half multiplayer when multiplayer is isolated into hideout garrisons, no endgame town worth anything, & zoomers bailing from party members, nobody is gonna stream that isolation. For more than 1 to 4 weeks. Unless you're a POE nerd streamer wearing a black shirt & who doesn't have that many subs overall, for the broader pc gamer society. Tho for the REAL streamers, no, they brush over POE like it was some single player game from the 1990's, they might as well be talking about POE like it is D2 Nostalgia. " Ye I tried that POE game 1 time ago, good game " *then continues talking about some other trend unrelated to POE*. Tho chat only likes streaming the game for 4 weeks at most & then never again. Hmm wonder why. I SUPPOSE twitch chat or yt chat for most games, aren't sharing the same opinions as these POE reply'ers are. Obviously not. Popular streamers chat, they don't want WoW Garrison hideouts, they don't want dead end portal zones, they don't want unfinished story endgame zones, they don't want endgame ghosttown towns, they don't want lack of healer gems, they don't want lack of world bosses or lack of party events or party formats, & they want less zoomer parties. Until then this isn't even " Half " a multiplayer game, its 80% a single player game. Zoomer parties aren't helping. Just get rid of zoomers god that's so obvious. Yes pvp duels strengthen this game being more about strategy chaining skills, then some basement nerd buffing 1 skill to thumb spam like a mobile phone game. Who even allowed this game to be about 1 button spam?? WHO?! The d2 people?! Who do we blame for that, this game has been 10 years out & you guys still have mobile phone thumb spam as your main priority for 1 skill mainly for most builds?? WTH is that. Stop that. Stop promoting that. Make this game REQUIRE 4 to 10 active skills per class. It doesn't matter if by mentioning this someone replies with " That's not this game, go play Lost Ark. " No Lost Ark sucked. & Make it this game. Make it this game now & rid 1 button thumb spam uber mowwing mobs buffed skills. If not for early game, than this a doable fix for endgame. Strategy, no 1 skill spam, only strategy. No 1 hits. No zoomers, only strategy. P.s. & Ye most people want underplayed skills buffed, how many threads talked about this, & they still favor elitist builds? All the devs have to do is make a list of every skill that is underplayed & ask why, then redesign the animations & sound fx of these skills, as that's a problem for these skills be underplayed as much as they are weak skills too. So both need fix. Animation sound, & reworked buffed underplayed skills. 100 people towns with hang out fields. Witcher taverns. Free hair style options. Yes lets change every single core element of PoE because you said so.... We play PoE because it is what it is and not what you want it to become. Go play differrent game if you want it so badly instead of pushing your dumb ideas here and trying to ruin this game for everyone else.
Also comparing PS2 expansion with PoE league is just stupid. If you didnt notice leagues are made in 3 months cycle, and no GGG will not change that because that would mean cutting their revenue. Last edited by kuciol#0426 on Jul 5, 2022, 1:16:33 PM

You Diablo 2 fanatics, even tho your really not a D2 fan if your against MMO's. As most D2 fans went to play WoW after. So really I'm talking to Baldur's Gates fans or Grim Dawn or some game nobody played " fans ".
You guys are the reason for 1 hit skill spam. Or 1 skill use builds. Like a mobile phone thumb game has. This is 2022 people. Get with modern times. You don't advocate for a game to be like a mobile phone rpg in any way of the sense. Noobs. Not even for D2 identity. You Baldurs gates fans are the reason for isolated hideouts & dead end endgame zones. You guys are against pvp scaling duels, SO YOU HAVE PVE 1 SHOTS TO THANK FOR THAT b.s. opinion. & to the person who doesn't believe dueling pvp scaling fixes boss mechanics. That they are 2 diff topics. No they aren't. They are 2 hands of the same body. If you fix 1, you fix the other. Duels require chain skills, so if no duels, guess what, less boss chain skills too, just 1 hits served. You guys are a DEAD END. " Change what you like about the game " Everything I liked about D2 doesn't need to be changed, everything that I didn't like about D2 does need to be changed. How's that. Also most of what I liked about D2 had less to do with the single player & more to do with the art direction of the game. Had VERY little to do with the features & more to do the fact that it was one of the first rpg's you play as a teen. Theirs some classic elements like voice acting, dungeons, loot, atmosphere, action, & camera view. Tho feature wise, that like any other game should be more flexible. Diablo 2 is now Diablo 4. Guild Wars 1 a ARPG. Turned into Guild Wars 2 a MMORPG. Guess which one is better, GW1 or GW2 as far as features? GW2 is better, graphics aside. You believe Diablo 4 isn't going to have D2 styled Dungeons? IT WILL. Tho guess what, here's the winning feature, it'll have " More to do outside " as well. Tho nobody trust Blizzard soooooo POE better shine. Also why don't you single player people who keep telling me to go play a MMORPG, when its obvious I know more about MMORPG titles than all of you. Why don't YOU go play a diff single player game. Instead of telling me to go play a diff multiplayer game. Go play Grim Dawn. I'm not going to go play Final Fantasy, but you may leave to play Last Epoch. Goodbye then. Laters. You got Last Epoch, you don't even need POE. You've seen how popular grim dawn & lost epoch is; they aren't. Hmm maybe due to single player for pc? Probably. 100 people towns with hang out fields. Witcher taverns. Free hair style options. Ive played diablo2 once and i didnt like it. I like PoE the way it is. It is you who came here thinking he is the smartest guy in the world and its you who is trying to change our game that we played for years. You should move on because its clear you dont like it here instead of trying to destroy it for players who are here for years. 1 simple glimps into your profile says you dont know anything about this game. You didnt even once in your life got lvl90 in softcore, you didnt kill single meaningfull boss, even the easy ones like breachlords yet you have the audacity to demand changes?

Stop implying your preferences for game styles represent some sort of "evolution" because you are not willing to defend your stance on its own. I play games old and new and in many cases not that much evolution has been happening, just genre changes or market transitions. You're being fooled by the marketing department slapping a "2" on something.
MMOization of games tends to bring all sorts of new problems with it, such as encroaching party play and intense grinding. If I want an MMO I'll go play one. We already have an MMOized ARPG. It's called Lost Ark. Even has cooldowns on skills so you have to use more than 1 skill. Why not go play that? It doesn't make sense to go tell the current audience of the game to go play another game when you're the one demanding changes to a game you clearly perceive as archaic. I don't get it. PoE is not really my favorite ARPG ever but I'm not about to go tell them to shrink the passive tree. |

I am a "mostly standard player" for many reasons. I am very concerned about what could happen to my standard gear with the overhaul in POE2. That is honestly probably the only thing that could get me to go to D4, is if they screw over standard.

I don’t vest too much time into a builds anymore. Nerfs and power creep are continuously a sure thing in every patch. As a ssf I don’t bother. The fun for me is in dabbling with builds. If it can clear T16 good enough. Play other games, time is precious.

PoE has evolved into a very extreme version of itself since it's inception.
Comparing the game to wack-a-mole, kill mob get loot, repeat. Beginners and casuals wack the mole a few times a minute and get a little loot. The more serious have developed an auto-wacker that smacks the moles 100x faster than the casual, and get the equivalent 100x returns in loot and progress. The high end players have upgraded to an automated hammer that smacks the entire board repeatedly at once ending up with 1000x times the return. It's extremely hard to balance with that wide of a disparity across the range of players. Nothing has been done to slow the game (errr mob killing) other than tweaking some broad parameters nerfing the players and/or buffing the mobs, but this is a losing battle as the high end players go from 10s of millions of DPS to, well, 8s of millions of dps whereas the lower end players simply get wrecked. I believe there are two main causes for the 1 button kill everything situation that has resulted. 1. MORE modifiers. A * B * C * D * E * F results in the millions of DPS that are being achieved and if you think about it MORE modifiers are generally kind of illogical in the sense that most of them shouldn't INCREASE the overall damage but should at best leave it around the same. Splitting a projectile into multiple projectiles that do MORE damage overall leads to the mudflation that generates these huge numbers. If you are going to Fork/Chain/Increase Area/Melee splash/blah blah your damage should go down, not increase because having the player make one shot and wipe out the opposing army is not only Overpowered, it's hard to balance and that's why we are in this situation of 1 shot kill them before they kill us. 2. Games of this nature usually have a natural balance to things. It's typically some form of Rock-Paper-Scissors where Melee and Ranged and Casters form the three roles and the player by choosing one of the roles will have one other role that they dominate and another role that will dominate them. Having some built in weakness would allow the game designers to seed the zones with a mixture of the three roles and provide a challenge for players to overcome, be it with other skills (making it more than a 1 button wack) and giving some speed bumps to players to slow the game down. To me, having the game in a state where players are at your end game in under 12 hours is just a waste of development resources and just ends up allowing players to get bored faster. D4 may be really good, or not. It may have "shallower" play, arguably. But one thing about the old pay for the game up front model does is it sets up a contract (errr expectation) that the player understands when they pony up their money, and it doesn't deviate core game play very much. PoE leagues are a mixed bag for me. If I don't want to play Thief or Farmville, or Pokeymon then the League is a write-off for me and I always wish that the time and effort they put into these diversions that usually end up getting abandoned or nerfed into nothingness was used in improving core game play or improved trade systems. Opinions vary and everyone has the right to their own, but for me, once I need Spreadsheets and State Diagrams to figure out how to cope with a new league mechanic that is never explained and buggy as all hell at the beginning then all the fun is sucked out of it. |
