Four reason i think Diablo IV migh have the edge against poe(2)
Diablo 4 will be dissapointment until the first big patch or expansion with fixes and reballances, especially if it is made in a hurry.
I already see that gameplay is quite boring. Itemisation with their 10 levels of items rarity is meh. New runes system is meh. They tried to copy some paragon tree ideas from POE, yet i doutbt it will succeed altogather with their d3-like skills system. They where aiming the graphics part of the game, yet i think POE2 still looks BETTER, more realistic and better-optimized as for such kind of games. Diablo 4 will be a 1-month game for most of us at the start and then maybe after patches some will return. PoE nowadays looks more and more like a fan-made fork server with tons of custom weird experimental stuff rather than original game with carefully thought out balance brough live to players. " It's interesting because that's PoE's exact strategy. Leagues are fun for a couple of weeks, maybe a month, then most people leave, and hopefully for GGG, return the following league. D4 is going to have a live service, season model. The massive difference is that D4 will be a next-gen arpg, and everything is new up front. Of course there will be patching, balancing, updates, ect... that's not a negative, not even close. "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."

Well i don't want to support the dumb-down, casualisation of ARPG from the publishers of D2. So no, do not want to pay/play for a month if the game is anything like D3.
D4 apparently uses smart loot - Smart Loot refers to the game's tendency to roll item types and/or affixes appropriate for the class of the character that finds or crafts or gambles the item. This does not happen with every item, but about 85% of item drops (Smart Drops) or item rolls (via crafting and gambling) will roll with bonuses suited to the class of the character that finds or crafts or gambles the item. So that implies that itemization is simplified and bad. Item's are designed for specific classes rather than being multipurpose in order for smart loot to even function. |

One reason I think the whole discussion is pointless:
Neither of the two games are out yet, nor will they be in the foreseeable future. Have a good day. |

So i see the unethical Activision D4 monetization has become the focus. Here's my question though, from what we have seen of Diablo 4 what actually makes it look good? Is the game having MMO light features (we've had and already played in ARPG for 20 years now) really that exciting? Where else have Blizzard innovated that honestly makes Diablo 4 look interesting?
