The gear of my RF character may be influenced by the fact that I dropped a mirror this league, for the first time since I started playing ten years ago. But yes, maybe we define "casual player" differently. It's hardly a very precise term, and it's pretty dumb if someone is to claim "you have the wrong definition of casual", as I think it's very subjective. I think you're jaded by this "a casual player can't achieve anything in PoE" attitude, so the moment you see someone achieving anything, you automatically assume "he can't be a casual player". " Yeah i feel we used to survive a lot longer and better, despite lacking many layers of mitigation. I think we are forced into the deeper harder learning curve on how to play with mitigation. I started experimenting alot more and think alot more, not just jump into the next build and pray that it works. I played alot of HC before and never respected the mitigation much, that is why i never achieved the true endgame, because i wanted quick results or quit league earlier and never truly chased the achievements. But i decided to put an end to it and all of my experiences from last 10 years. It is okay to whine and cry sometimes, because this game can be truly brutal on the mind. Best regards, Fary <3 ! Resistances have never been a "layer" you could ignore. Running around late game on HC with negative chaos resist has always been suicide.
Other layers like block, evasion, suppression, and dodge have never protected from one shots either. Having those layers makes maps more comfortable if you have enough resists and health to survive a few hits, they don't save you from stupid though. |

I've never been big on all the layers of defenses, but one thing you learn REALLY early in PoE is that you just cannot neglect resistances.
I think I've never maxed chaos resistance, but running around maps with negative chaos res (or any resistance, for that matter) has always been suicide. You could neglect chaos res a bit because there weren't that many sources of it, but that was in the past - at least since the introduced the Rogue Exile Ulysses Morvant, it was advisable to have at least a single digit positive chaos res. I moved from 75% chaos res Occultist to 18% chaos res Slayer and I totally agree. Even if I play SC, maxing out chaos res just makes game feel way better.
Especially with all those chaos AN mods. |
