I personally quit the game yesterday and gave away around 70 ex in currency and gear just to make sure that I'm truly done with the game - it's crazy how hard off-meta builds fell off in terms of defenses and damage, capped standard resistances and 5k HP + 700 ES and Ghost Dance with 70%+ evasion and 100% suppression AND elusive at 150% on average doesn't mean anything at all now, after getting instantly tagged by Uber Exarch 6 times in a row ( 5 times by his Annihilation barely grazing my character and instantly melting me and 1 time getting OHKO'd by the minotaur), I'm just done with the game if I'm borderline FORCED to play meta builds to survive anything at all, there's just no way to work in every single defensive layer into off-meta builds now while having any

Pretty insane though. Taking worst case scenario it's a 3228 base hit on the auto(1922 top-end on auto, but 168% damage which is not always included in poedb). With ass mark a mob probably has like 60% crit mult(couldn't find exact numbers). So 3228*1.6=5164 phys hit. 25% more damage from shrine = 6455 phys base damage. But it's not like Ziz had no phys mitigation. And now you still add w/e phys as chaos the shrines give on top.

Those Molten Minotaurs just hit insane hard, they're more overtuned than Archnemesis mobs ever were to me.

EDIT: as /u/zkrly mentioned: Deadeye also gives 20% increased damage, since there's no other %inc damage than means our base damage goes to 7746. We might not even need the 1.68x damage from poedb then.

You might want to check out one of the many ways to mitigate damage types. Resistance, immunity, reduction, and stuff. If you neglect any ONE type its gonna catch up to you sooner or later.

Gone are the days where you just stack 10k life with kaom's and call it good.

Yeah i feel we used to survive a lot longer and better, despite lacking many layers of mitigation. I think we are forced into the deeper harder learning curve on how to play with mitigation. I started experimenting alot more and think alot more, not just jump into the next build and pray that it works.

I played alot of HC before and never respected the mitigation much, that is why i never achieved the true endgame, because i wanted quick results or quit league earlier and never truly chased the achievements. But i decided to put an end to it and all of my experiences from last 10 years.

It is okay to whine and cry sometimes, because this game can be truly brutal on the mind.

I feel you, Yesterday same happened to me from a steel infused blue pack dogs. I have defeated much harder juiced yellow maps and then i die in tier 1 non threatening alched map from a blue pack of dogs.

With over 5K life... -112% reduced damage from crit strikes... around 600 life regen... Defiance banner on, Arctic armor on, Vitality aura on, Guardian buffs on and to also mention my minions tanking. I got insta Deleted. Its crazy !

Adding chaos damage to monsters, having low chaos resist, then getting killed by significantly higher chaos damage isn't really a archnemesis (or even this league/release) problem. He would have died last league to the same thing.

Its not just ranom AN mob. Its one spawned by Exarch altars Those "demons" always hit like a truck and it was most likely buffed by several altars he triggered during map. He probably doesnt have "25% more dmg taken fore each altar" in addition since he plays HC but who knows.

I get your perspective as well. I know there were multiple factors involved here and abit unlucky, but when he gets truly frustrated with his dead and highlits it and pins the comment saying " it is really bad "...then sure is really bad.
