My 2 cents,
I'm enjoying the league for the challenge. At 45 deaths after finishing the story I knew I had to change my whole playstyle if I wanted to progress. Invest more in better gear earlier than ever before, skip most extra content, XP on T6 blue maps, avoid any atlas passives that add difficulty and sadly never use my sentinel in T7+ I Play really reserved and cautious, treat every pack like it could kill me, and be really on point any time there's a rare or even magic mob on screen So it is definitely challenging, but the campaign is a slog and the end game requires a constant state of hypervigilance and I'm not sure it's something I'll enjoy for the rest of the league It's also a real bummer to not really be able enjoy the league mechanic and have to skip any bonus content with rip potential (which is all of it now). Level 100 and uber gear feel a lot more necessary even for casual players like me. In the end the game feels like work (I'm actually not going to play today to prevent burnout) and I think the league may end up a ghost town Chill Jams Last edited by EdgarFriendly#3889 on Jun 14, 2022, 1:49:21 PM

Constant degen everywhere in this game, As well as mobs still killing people, even after the mobs are long dead? I kill a rare mob and its pack & continue the game only to be killed 30 seconds later by the same mob I already killed from some damn degen. If I killed the mob that is degenning me, the degen should immediately stop. It's just the massive degen part, is whats killing my motivation of playing this sentinel league. I am quickly getting discouraged from playing this league. Just saying.... |

+1
Found it boring and stopped playing quite early in the league :/ This was cool as an optional mechanic (I'm apparently one of the rare players who LOVED Archnemesis), but everywhere in the game, that just sucks and ruins everything... " i mean... not that i answer to one of your posts the first time, but i couldnt resist, because the way you put it, is basically as if you were victimizing yourself, to a game... Lonnie has a fair point, people are always bitching, game is too easy, game is too hard, but in all fairness, those who are crying that it is too hard now, are simply doing it wrong... i saw plenty of posts about the challenges, while those are grindy, they are actually not really harder, you just need to have a more accurate plan of what you wanna do, and in which order. but then again, you seem to have your mind fixated in a "i am abused by the devs" mindset, so, yea, not gonna deal with that kind of BS... seriously like, what is that argument even? do you think anyone at ggg gets paid more if people spend more time playing? :D do you think people bitching about how bad the league and AN is (when in reality they just dont comprehend what they are doing wrong) buy supporter packs? spend optional money on the game? how delusional one would have to be thinking that people spend money on something they dont enjoy. but then again, keep in mind, there are people enjoying it, and regarding the feedback... ye, they dont post "wow cool shit, so much fun this league" because they are playing... and when i see the challenge count of most complainers --- " except for this guy, but i assume that he paid for the challenges and level 100 in particular --- have a single digit challenge count... so they basically gave up upon facing the least amount of resistance. Real winner personalities! |

" You're assuming people with low challenge counts aren't playing the league because they find it too hard. (Completely missing the point of most of the arguments being made) But still dismiss the opinions of people with high counts too because they could buy progress? I don't necessarily agree with the reasoning of the person you're responding to either, but its silly to group everyone's complaints together like that. Some of us just didn't find the league fun, largely because of the AN modifiers, but due to other reasons as well. Under the old system of rares, difficulty was determined by the number of external modifiers being stacked. The rares themselves were mostly harmless, but league encounters were designed with that in mind. They threw out many at once, added league specific affixes or base monster types, gave them other resistances or damage buffs. League content didn't feel irrelevant in the same way that vanilla rare monsters did, it was fairly well tuned. The new system is designed around high variability in difficulty, based on the number and type of mods that roll and how they interact with your build. On it's own, this system mostly works. I just don't think it was designed to be put in every corner of the game. At least without a overhaul of all the mechanics it interacts with. It doesn't feel great in most league content, due to the interaction of old multipliers with the wide new range of base monster difficulty. And how certain mods just don't work well in certain situations, like the initial problems with Juggernaut in Blight or Trickster in Delve. It's gotten better with the patches, but it's still a fundamental shift in how difficulty is being determined, and there is a lot of roughness to still iron out. It's more RNG and spike-y, where before it was more deterministic, you could choose to take on an appropriate amount of challenge for your character by stacking additional mechanics to increase both difficulty and your rewards. Now some monsters are just way harder than they need to be relative to the content they are appearing in, and they don't feel very rewarding for overcoming. The swings are less noticeable now both because of the number of nerfs, and because people have established themselves in the league, but the core design problems still exist. A certain level of choice in difficulty is important because not every skill performs the same at all stages of the game, by increasing the difficulty floor it punishes a lot of builds that aren't as strong in the meta. And there's something to be said about pushing newer or less experienced players away from the game too. We don't need to gatekeep, it's not like PoE does anything to hold the players hand as it is. We can have more challenging content without making it the default experience for everyone. Regardless of difficulty changes, it has a different feel, some people will like it, some people won't, either way it says nothing about their personality or the validity of their opinions. We're just not sure its worth going through all the effort of polishing this system up to stay when most of the mods are passive stat increases, high resistance monsters breaking the flow of gameplay, and irredeemable things like Effigy or Empowering Minions, or to a lesser extent Drought Bringer/Vampiric/Mana Siphoner which are causing more problems than they are serving the function of making enemies interesting to fight again. yes, please remove archnemesis mods cause a game is only supposed to degenerate into meaninglessness by devs powercreeping the shit out of it until they are motivated enough to design a sequel which is more difficult again.
players only accept setbacks in progress if there is massively new content, once the enjoyed the sweetness of huge rewards for no skill investment at all, they won't give it away so easily. how dare you, ggg, to react to the thousands of reddit posts which claim that the game became a slogfest of boringness, the campaign to be a nuisance which' should allow gamers to skip it, the game overall being too long cause the real challenges were at the final end of the atlas only. it doesn't really fit that they released joystick support for skill free couch potatoes and then make the game rather challenging and not suitable for those folks. i also feel betrayed!!11 age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

" dude, how am i dismissing the fact that people can buy completion, when i literally assumed that the guy with 40 challenges, leaving a +1 here, with a level 100 char in trade league, was doing that... but yes, in all fairness, i have to admit that i tend to forget that people betray themselves with such behaviour. it is basically like taking someone elses work and brag about it being yours. some even spend real money on that stuff... but that's OT. for the rest, i just have to say that with a basic game understanding, AN is actually not that hard to deal with... "oh no, i play SC Trade but i cant go full glasscannon anymore" getting appropriate defense was never easier, and i am not even talking about recombinators, which are freaking broken (more than harvest). just freaking play the game and learn a thing or two, before you go on reddit or forums and ask for nerfs / removal, which is not directly pointed at you Jerot, more of a general statement. this was literally a Day one situation, and even after the nerfs, which were heavy nerfs, the complaints dont seem to find an end. " First, I do keep spending money on the game even now, even while ranting about game design here. I don't buy whole supporter packs with a forum badge, but it is fair to pay for what you play, even when I don't agree with a number of their decisions. Second, my point never was about challenges and grind being impossible, but about players having to search and exploit oversights in each patch in order to get good performance in end-game content. You cannot really make your own choices in PoE, it is basically one big lie. Third, about overly emotional and distorting, and "BS" formulating of my posts - here, you are correct, but it was not always like that. When I first came to PoE, I was full of hope and respect:) And my first feedback here always included detailed suggestions on how to improve the aspect of design I was complaining about. And then I got the treatment... Auto-banned for false reason, having to wait month until getting unbanned without even copypasted "sorry we made a mistake", realizing that GGG makes the game punishing on purpose and no feedback really matters, and so on. By now, I just rant here, not looking to start any kind of serious discussion, or even expecting an answer. You may consider "i am abused by the devs" a joke, but this is a core principle of PoE: they know full well, that majority of people won't be able to enjoy the game once the true difficulty kicks in, but they do nothing about it, because this way others (who get through) could feel themselves more "distinguished" and more attached to this game, and more willing to spend more money. I consider such approach not ethical, and all my rants ultimately revolve around that. But again, I still buy small MTX from time to time as long as I am playing myself. |

" Yes, more time you sit in POE more chance you spend on it as it becomes your ONLY interest. You would be surprised to find out how many people fall into this easy trap and splurge. POE2 should be the ruthless vision experience and POE1 should be the zoom power fantasy sandbox to capture both audiences.
I petition to return all the fun stuff that was removed or nerfed over the years back into POE1. |

Also, on the topic of formulating: my overuse of "I" in my posts is due to bad english, not to some inflated ego:)
"I am" and "this is" are basically only kind of sentences known to me, english is not my native language. |
