" uhm, spending money doesnt make you anything special, like yea, you can rant, money or not. but point being is, it is one month into the league, you are still playing? still playing? uhm... dont get me wrong, but apparently things cant be as bad? the rant is rather a crying for luxury kind of thing? like... i dont know... but if i dont like a league, if i dont like, whatever, i dont do it, i avoid it. and most importantly, i vote with my wallet. i dont spend money on a league that i would not like??? " you are wrong. (sry for saying it like that, but is just a wrong statement) you CAN make basically anything work, and perform well in endgame. some archetypes and skills need more investment than others. but there are only a few actual limitations. "oh wait, i cant do ubers on a 25c budget??? shit game" sorry, but people seem to have that mindset, and they mistake a league starter with something that always has the potential to beat endgame. weirdly enough tho, given it was hella easy to understand for the majority, people took EA totems to endgame, and beat it. investing 80+ ex even. a friend of mine even threw a mirror on that archetype. yea, this isnt always the case of possibilities... but there are soooooo many builds, you just have to keep your eyes open and be willing to invest, properly... " cant comment on that, since i dont have any context -shrug- " a certain degree of failure, and therefore frustration is key to a healthy reward psychology... i mean, you could have a world of warcraft or Diablo 3 kind of reward structure, would that be fun? - bling bling - you stood in fire, nice, have an achievement and in the end you basically even fucked something up, but hey, dopamine rush machine goes brrrrrrrr or get to max level in diablo, get basically your endgame gear handed out... biiiiiiiig damage, big dopamine hit. but yet again, it feels stale and shallow fast. i no alternate timeline i would ever do the same grind in D3 or any other overly rewarding game, as i would in PoE. not that i wanna put myself on a high horse, but this is how it should be, this is healthy reward perception... because that basically translates to real life, not everything in life goes well, whatcha wanna do about it? except for brushing it of your shoulder and go on or adapt, obviously. " congratulations on taking that sentence out of context, even tho there was a follow up, immediately after... " so, yea, people spend money on something they dont enjoy? those would be signs for masochism, addiction, stockholm syndrome, name it how you want, but this is completely irrational behaviour, and if anyone acted like that, they have way different issues that "Archnemesis mods being baddy baddy"... so, ye... no... also not to mention, that the monetization is a completely different topic, and the player retention on league start, and especially dec/jan league, matter the most... " As told in this topic before, the only reason I am still here is because of playing Standard. I can only farm by facerolling AN mobs before they attack me, and not consider it a healthy gameplay. " I said just so, wasn't I? Yes, you CAN invest a lot of currency and time to make non-meta skills slightly viable, but it is a time wasted. Simply trying a new build in PoE is an epic undertaking, as you have to engage in expensive crafting before being able to see how it would actually work, and if it would work at all. |

To elaborate, most Arpg games allow you to select a build core first, and then gradually improve and minmax it all the way to end-game.
PoE is unique in that you have absolutely no idea if you would hit a wall in the next few levels (above lvl 85+), and suddenly find out that bypassing would require enormous investment. It is not "normal" when you need several months of failure experience in order to be able to at least choose main attacking skill properly. And "just follow someone's PoB" is not "normal" either, in my noob opinion. Last edited by Echothesis#7320 on Jun 15, 2022, 4:23:31 AM

" referring to challenge leagues only, because i personally do not see the fun and joy of standard league. yes, it takes time, and weirdly enough, you have basically all the worlds ressources available in standard. not with the intention to sh!t on you, but when it is possible to progress in a challenge league, it sure is possible in standard? but i have been playing an average of maybe 3h per day this league? not even remotely every day. the only challenge i am missing is grinding 1000 more altars in total, the rest is done. so all i am left with is grind. i have a mapper, i have a delver, i have a bosser. never have been a fan of the whole one trick pony thing. yes gearing 3 chars can be a pain, but (well, you miss out on them) recombinators ease that by a lot. they are by no means necessary tho, they just add a lot of QoL (even tho they are gambling). as i said before, defenses were never easier to get than in 3.17 or especially now. ![]() this is my mapper (no flasks activated) i barely ever die, or get remotely close, and that while having below 3k hp. but yea, i dont die, i deal decent damage for mapping to feel comfy. and i dont quite understand how (not referring to you) self proclaimed veterans and experts struggle and complain. -shrug- |

And how would that sheet look on a corrupted map with "less aura effect"? :)
Your profile is private, but I guess you are an aurabot - which is exactly the kind of cheesy exploits I was referring to. Divert all resources to 2 aura modifiers, and then you have capped armor and capped evasion and bumped max res, and only then you can never die, seems good. I am afraid this character cannot serve as an example of "you can make anything work", because it is already locked into the meta. Last edited by Echothesis#7320 on Jun 15, 2022, 4:45:36 AM

To be honest I half expected GGG to release AN mod which lowers aura magnitudes on all nearby players:)
We already have mobs that screw flask stackers, but aura stacking remains one of the bread and butter concepts. |

As long as his profile is set to private there is nothing to discuss with him. He might be running some malding of the flesh champ build for all we know.
POE2 should be the ruthless vision experience and POE1 should be the zoom power fantasy sandbox to capture both audiences.
I petition to return all the fun stuff that was removed or nerfed over the years back into POE1. |
|
" GGG enabled determ and grace, being basically a super strong defense... easily to acquire... and you call that exploit? running two auras, already make the char an aurabot? Oo what? |
|
|
If the standard situation in the main area of POE (for me red rare t16 maps) demands exploits to enable surivability of a char I think thats a problem that needs fixing. Arch Nem mods have a big part in that being the case but so have the new map mods that were introduced in the last couple of patches.
I can´t how we already had these negative exps with things like reflefct to the point its getting changed now to come back and make things like reduced aura effect, so that everyone who is not a aurastacker might aswell turn them of, or striaght up imunities/ very high redutions so that whole builds stop working (looking at wither imunity here). Is it possible to still get very high defenses and stop dying on a regular basis, Yees it is but only if you warp your build arround it and that should not be a situation to happen in a game that thrives on individual expression through build variety like POE. |

using what the game gives you = exploit?!
like... i dont get it you dont NEED melding you dont NEED aegis (not using one btw, purity and other means to inc lightning res) you DONT NEED like that cheesy def stuff, you can run no determ, no grace and go glass cannon, just dont get hit, i guess... if you wanna degrade the discussion to that now not gonna lie... at this point this discussion has then lost all its relevance... " what exactly does my profile have to do with the discussion? how is that relevant? and how is it relevant to you and the discussion? are you just trying to find a "oh he plays a champ, lol, so broken" argument? yes i am using a melding, oh no, i am using an item that dropped for me :O gotta delete that character, unethical item usage :O yea, why is this guy who is farming for other builds he is gonna play not punching himself in the crotch by playing some, whatever build, as league starter... i mean, i could either use what the game gives me, or post on reddit and the forums that the game in its current state is shit and unplayable... guess i prefer the "play the game as it is intended" version :) Last edited by SquareCubiC#3528 on Jun 15, 2022, 5:22:59 AM
