It is not gender specific. We avoid it nowadays because a masculine word not gender inclusive is unacceptable and unwelcome nowsdays. If he was generic, he could refer to a possibility of he as well to she.

I'm not a native speaker and I remember when I first read this "they" thing, I was really confused. It was way before "gender" became a hot topic.

However, you're right, "he" can still be used as a generic pronoun, my total rejection of it was wrong.
But it's kinda awkward once you got used to "they", especially when you know that the person it refers to is female, like Foreverhappychan and I know that Coconutdoggy is.

Anyway, here's some interesting reading on the topic, which on the one hand shows that "they" has nothing to do with recent gender awareness but on the other hand also shows that generic he still is alive - and that "they" is also used for people of non-binary gender these days:

Interesting pronoun stuff

Not worth it, old friend. Trust me. I know I_NO is a she (as do quite a lot of people here), and that honestly should have been the end of it. You're responding to someone who loves to nit-pick semantics and doesn't back down. Like, ever. Goalpost shifting inevitable.

But as always I appreciate your angle. I just feel there's a time and a place, and this probably isn't either for that. It was a throw-away additive and somehow it's blown up into several posts' worth of back-and-forth. I mean, the entire clickbait thread belongs in Off Topic anyway so I guess there's no real problem taking it off its own off topic but it'll stay in GD because the topic title namechecks PoE. So clever. But not really.

Anyway, I'm outs.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.

To proselytize or be manipulated? Are you being good at one or the other? Goalpost are imaginary.

Self endorsed smart people think really quickly, which can make them impatient. The smart and skilled in some area but the incompetent fool like all the others; fail to recognize their own ineptitude. It is not a challenge of intelligence but of strong psychological will. Self deluded to believe the goalpost is next to you when the goalpost is so far away you could never reach.

In all seriousness, I don't think I am trying in earnest with my self professed procrastination when the task isn't very meaningful and the individual does not cares about doing it well.

Super Metroid
Final Fantasy 7
Magic the Gathering
Monopoly
Texas Hold 'Em
Chess
Every installment of the Legend of Zelda franchise
DayZ
Not in that order and there are loads of others.
Not saying PoE is a bad game but... the best...
Not quite
I have never felt further from what I know and love
Solitary
I've played D2 for years but never liked the low drop rate of runes. Played quite a bit of wow as well.

I have a liking for non-rng-based mechanics like getting tokens/badges for boss kills which can be later used to buy gear. I cannot stand gambling mechanics, especially crafting in PoE and don't enjoy that at all.

D3 was always my first choice as an arpg after it was released. The one thing I enjoy the most in D3 is the gameplay. I still play seasons when they're released. I like the change to looting in D3 after expansion. You find all gear on your own without the need to break your gameplay.

PoE is only a secondary game for me and I only ever invested in 3 seasons (level 94, 92 and 91 chars). Apart from that I can't stand the clunky gameplay which, in my opinion, is a step backwards from D2. PoE is a dead for me and I don't think I can enjoy it judging from the direction of recent developments in last couple of years. Probably the worst thing in PoE is the rng-based trading. No thanks.

The best game for me is Supreme Commander. Everything about this game is perfection. The graphics, the explosions, the water, submarines with nukes, tactical missiles, cruise missiles, artilleries, experimental units and, ofcourse, nukes. On top of that, every single projectile is simulated. If you launch a nuke with your fighters flying overhead the nuke will hit them. Nowadays, the FAF community maintains the online play since official servers shutdown. It's unbelievable this game was originally released in 2006. I don't see any strategy game doing what Supcom accomplished.

It's amazing how the trailer perfectly depicts the actual gameplay. What you seen in the trailer is what you expect ingame.
Lmao. Lots of better games.
