Whats the point of purposefully frustrating & annoying mechanics

They are there so that you feel joy when you manage to avoid/ outsmart them.

Enemies alone don't pose a threat, too often they die before they are even in range to attack you.

No, 25% get through and then are mitigated by 75%, unless there's penetration on them.

The fireballs that chase you down and explode really need to go. It's f***ing annoying when you try to loot/click things and it just reminds me of D3, which is bad...

On top of it all the game has wayyyy too many ground/spell effects to the point where you cant see jack all if you're in a juiced map. So much bright color palette everywhere. Really hope they do something about this by the time POE2 launches...

The shield bubble buff that makes you have to stand in melee when you're ranged is annoying AF as well. I get it's there to shake things up a bit but they spawn much more often I notice. I get rekt whenever I have to go melee something with the shields.
They're spawn rate needs to be toned down, imo.

I get HH buffs, suddenly i cannot move due to grasping vines. flamebloods chase me down, dash on cooldown. i manage to dash away, straight onto a pile of bloodline on-death effects that oneshot me through any amount of defence.

Every time this sort of stuff happens it just frustrates me to the point where i don't want to play anymore.

I get that the devs designed themselves into a corner here when characters can kill multiple screens per second and some how "need to kill the player". but this type of "killing the player" is just plain and simple lazy, uninspired and ultimately bad for the game. People don't know what killed them, there is nothing to learn, you just get punished for no reason (atleast thats how it appears to most). People get frustrated, quit the game and play something else.

Does the lead designer want people to quit or whats the deal with keeping and introducing more and more of these types of 'randomly kill player fast' mechanics ?

I just finished clearing everything bar the hidden/feared on HC and didn't have anything like these defences. Ironically died on a lowly wave 16 of a Sim, still the most dangerous content for certain build types.

Block + recovery on block make you immune to most trash. I don't know what to tell you guys because I can't believe you die this fast with those defences, do you only run straight at mob packs?
The answer is quite simple really. GGG want to slow the game down and just introduce mechanics that might kill you so that you have to invest in mitigation of said effects which in turn lowers dps.

Frozen is probably the worst mechanic ever invented. it is so dangerous that you cannot afford to not mitigate it.

Curses are dangerous enough as it stands but just in case you decide not to invest in mitigation they decided to add in silence.

Reflect is just disgusting and gates certain content like atziri and uber lab behind investing in reduced reflected damage taken.

Corrupted blood is trivialised by a currupted implicit but if you ignore it it will kill you sooner or later. Just one less damage boosting implicit.

In general the game could do with a big overhaul that removes most of these BS

many mechanics in the game are redundant because they are so terrible that every single player invests in its mitigation. You might as well just remove them alltogether and take away some of the player power. Same effect without the frustration for new players.

Either way this game is mechanically broken anyway. The single truth that I have experienced is that the best skills and builds in the game are always those that allow you to deal damage without stopping to attack. GGG really needs to figure out a way to allow players to stop moving every once in a while without insta death. The game is so overtuned to stand a chance of killing characters that never stop that most builds that rely on standing still to deal dps are screwed and that is the reason build diversity is always meh and there are so many mechanic built in to kill your mobility ( which further punishes characters that have little mobility )

Personally, these "gotcha" mechanics are what makes me quit a league after I hit the challenge target. Just saps the fun from the core gameplay.
95% (or more) of my deaths wasn't legit... Always oneshoted and in so many cases i can't say or know what the fuck killed me.

i dont know why you people are complaining about this. you just aren't tanky enough. ive done 2 leagues of being able to clear 30wave sim deathless at least 95% of the time. if you're doing deadly stuff, expect it to be painful.

was just talkin to another player who hasnt died in 30wave sim at all..

so i'd imagine u guys must be doing something somewhat wrong with your builds somewhere.

90% of the game sucks post gen 2. I don't even betrayl or mess with to much modern mechanics. Too tedious and slow your basic roll of kill shit get loot.

I play Jugg most of the time so they cant fuck with my move speed

Oh and even then you need outs... like anti hinder jewel
