Whats the point of purposefully frustrating & annoying mechanics
Volatile Flameblood on-death effects
Grasping Vines Shroudwalker Buff Bloodlines Fire/Cold Explosion on-death effects Essence cold explosion on-death effect Harvest monster exploding eggs DoT puddles Time Dilation Delirium debuffs Beyond Off-screen monster attacks I get HH buffs, suddenly i cannot move due to grasping vines. flamebloods chase me down, dash on cooldown. i manage to dash away, straight onto a pile of bloodline on-death effects that oneshot me through any amount of defence. Every time this sort of stuff happens it just frustrates me to the point where i don't want to play anymore. I get that the devs designed themselves into a corner here when characters can kill multiple screens per second and some how "need to kill the player". but this type of "killing the player" is just plain and simple lazy, uninspired and ultimately bad for the game. People don't know what killed them, there is nothing to learn, you just get punished for no reason (atleast thats how it appears to most). People get frustrated, quit the game and play something else. Does the lead designer want people to quit or whats the deal with keeping and introducing more and more of these types of 'randomly kill player fast' mechanics ? Yup, some mechanics also make we want to stop playing. among many other things ! thing is, they dont even talk to the community on this stuff and help to explain why its in the game or have reasons to. But you'll find more actively replying and posting MTX stuff. we not blind !
Many places automatically zoom out especially the main Exarch fight. Why can our game not zoom out to that, that will help a little more on off screen hits. but they dont even tell us why its so zoomed in. And the amount zoomed out its not actually too bad. no frame drops for me nothing. I would actually see sirus in a fight before he could one shot me. |

The other side of that coin is boredom. You don't want to flip it.

The game is just too fast. You delete screen after screen with one shot. Nothing has time to post a danger to you - other that on-death effects. Just a result/compromise/effect of a game that has become too fast.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

most of those are fine only grasping vines I think is a bit sketch for the same reason the delirium 95% slow zones are sketch.
Its flavour, your basically asking why monsters do anything lmao if anything they already do too little. However the idea that you get killed for no reason by these really isn't the case, you can build around them and its pretty simple to do so but for most players the build cost isn't worth it vs an occasional portal. You are right that GGG designed themselves into a corner on this one though |

the point is to frustrate and annoy you!

" You say you could build around it all. But tell the people how to build around those pack of skeletons throwing fireballs ? or those cows throwing bolt lightning things ? Max res at 85% - spell suppress at 93% - chance to block attack around 50% - evasion around 80-90% - physical damage reduction about 70% - immune to all elemental ailments 5.5k life - 50% reduced curse effect - probably even have reduced damage in there including elemental % on the pantheon and yet, 2 bolts can kill you ! yeah sure you can dodge them yourself which is fine. But what damage is it even doing. Last thing i can think of is the need to have life regen over 1000 minimum to withstand the blows somewhat Last edited by R3cKiTT#5326 on Mar 14, 2022, 8:02:33 PM

Your build has 75% max res and 75% spell suppress (including quartz flask). This means that 25% of spells are going through with no damage mitigation..which can be okay, but not when/if you misplay and eat several attacks at once or there are dangerous map mods (-max res, multi, extra phys as element, etc.).
The thing is, you should have no issue getting 100% spell suppression. You are using purity of elements and all rare equipment and yet you aren't capped on spell suppression and only have 2% chaos resistance...You can literally just essence spam life or chaos resistance until you hit spell suppression and then bench craft what you are missing. If you are too lazy to craft 2 mod gear, then you can just take one spell suppression wheel. Just looking at your build again..and man, I don't know what you are thinking. You don't even need purity of elements or enlighten. You could replace purity of elements with grace and take the mana reservation efficiency mastery and that would leave you with 116 mana (thats without the grace reservation mastery). My league starter had 100% spell suppress, grace, defiance banner and determination (i.e. potentially identical to yours) and had zero issue pushing to level 99 with mostly mediocre gear (weapon was 400 epdps claw, no omniscience, no clusters). If you're still playing, I imagine you have your answer.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.
I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period. |

More times than I can count I alt-f4'd after the vines out of nowhere slowed me down, I don't usually die because of them I just think they're the dumbest thing I've ever seen in a game and it instantly kills my desire to play anymore. I've never experienced such an emotional low and high with a game like path of exile
