Titles and Achievements
I've already said it, but I guess it needs saying again.
THEY ADD NOTHING. And so far the best arguement for them I've seen is, "it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside." At their best it's bragging rights? In my mind that's a negative. Nobody else will truly care if you fist chatters in merciless no matter how much you go waving it around yelling look at me. Obscure achievements only attract the kind of player who would replay the game time and time again redardless of achievements. I have to disagree with you on replayability. People are still replaying rather old games, infact D2 still has a rather strong player base, whilst SW:TOR is in it's death throes. Now that is being awfully specific, but think of all those Xbox 360 and PS3 games with all their achievements and trophies and tell me honestly that it adds to the replayability of the individual game. It doesn't. Being enjoyable adds to a games replayability, not some text patting you on the back telling you what a good player you are. These systems are a waste of the developers time which could be better spent making the game more enjoyable. Given how this game is distributed(free digital download), they can add more content to the game post release and extend the game's life cycle that way. If you're still unsure as to why I dislike it then I'll say it simply. It's a waste of GGG's time for no gain. うにゅ?

I found the game Uncharted for ps3 very fun, and i liked the "merits" you could win. "run and gunner" was a merit you won by not using r target/aim and just running out and firing, you could win other merits by doing other things well, like "ninja" was a merit for getting lots of guys in a row using stealth. its a nice feature, its fun because the merits are personal to your play style, it signifies that the game recognizes how you are playing and also shows you other ways of playing.
+1 my post if you like it.

" Is it really that hard to dream up other methods of play all on your lonesome? Uncharted is indeed an entertaining game, but I think you missed my message whilst hitting it dead on. That is one game. To that one how many others do you think sucked and no number of achievements could convince you to grind through for all if not any of them? You had fun doing "run and gunner" and "ninja" because the game was fun for you. If there was no text popping up saying well done for doing what we anticipated you might do, would it have been any less fun to achieve those merits? I personally have fun trying to do things that wasn't planned or wasn't laid out for me as a possibility with a glowing sign on it. Even if it's something the developers anticipated I'd much rather not be told, "We knew you would try and do that, here have a sticker." Once again, people had fun playing video games before achievements and I predict that should the achievement systems be wiped out of the game industry entirely, people will continue to enjoy playing video games. うにゅ? I stand by the suggestion to add achievements, and so does Steam and XBox Live and PSN, where they are completely standard. They exist for a reason. The reason is: people like them.
If you don't, that's fine, you're welcome to keep trolling here, but someday I wouldn't mind seeing achievements in the game, so long as they don't take precedence over genuine completion of gameplay content. |

This feature is nowhere close to PoE and its philosophy and stand, by any means. You can find and enjoy achievements in steam games and so, but not suitable for Poe, most definitly. And if i were you, i wouldn't speak for others which is plain not valid either. And many people on forum are aware also that achievement system is nothing to do with PoE and its concept.
There is no need to cycle same thing over and over as it won't help you at all. "This is too good for you, very powerful ! You want - You take" Last edited by BrecMadak#3812 on May 27, 2012, 7:36:40 AM

Some want it, some don't. It's very low-priority, but it's a suggestion.

Sounds like a load of bull to me, first of all why would you want to have a title other than feeling superior to another.
And about the achievements, all you have to do in this game is killing shit and completing quests, completing a quest is a achievement. NOT EVEN DEATH CAN SAVE YOU FROM ME

" Feeling superiour... in PRISON! Who would want that? " Completing a quest is an achievement. Killing Chatters is an achievement. Capturing Psiduck is an achievement. but how do people know I've captured Psiduck if I have nothing to show for it? |
