POE Heading to D3 Land...please reconsider
Very good post. i was thinking about writing something similar but im really not good at wording it.
all i can say i dont feel rewarded for playing. i think that was better in closed beta but then again i didnt play as much back then. since this game is inspired by diablo 2 im gonna compare it to that. i always felt rewarded in d2 by running act bosses or unique bosses for runes or uniques or good rares. here not so much. here i have to gimp my build EXTREMELY to just be able to find anything at all. i really hope that they look into this and something changes. bc right now the frustrating endgame really also keeps me from leveling new alts and such. tldr: +1 ps. i like how this thread got so many replies in this short time so im really hoping it changes something. "5. Jewels would definitely detract from the "links" part; if you're planning 5 gems and a jewel, the 6L isn't necessary, you just want a six-socket 5L. All the RNG/crafting sucks threads are not evidence that most players refuse to muddle through, because those complainers are not most players. Most players don't use the forums at all. Granted, for every person who complains in that thread, there are some people who don't use the forums who are turned off by the same systems; in a way, it's a republic with self-appointed representatives. But even if a majority of the players think it's bad... that doesn't mean they'd necessarily prefer the system they're suggesting. Immediate gratification isn't a good game mechanic; one should be careful what one wishes for. In any case, we should make decisions based on reason, not on popularity; I don't care about polls, I care about facts. 6. You shouldn't need to increase currency drop rate to accomodate a more diverse map pool. In order to ensure the most random (meaning most replayable) endgame system possible, all map affixes should be balanced against each other well enough that rerolling is the exception, not the rule; in general, you should use an Alch, say "eh, looks fun" and run the map already. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

Guys, this game is financed by "secret power" to make a study about economy. They don't care about the gameplay ! :D -semi joke, sometimes i have doubts...-
Don't worry people, every economy that's not based on something real (gold, beforce the 60's in the USA and 70's in the rest of the world) or at least reality (time to spend to WORK, money used for USEFULL things : food, rent and so for it) will ALWAYS collapse. Just wait a few more months and you'll find 6L for 1 chaos. Standard : BratalUss

" Except this perception is entirely untrue. The currency drop rate in high level maps isn't any higher than the rest of the game. In fact, I've probably gotten more of the higher orbs (GCPs, divines, and exalteds) simply playing through the game than I have through maps. In fact, maps are a great way to lose money. You can spend so much money rolling them to try to ensure that you get map drops. You need to roll for maze, you need to roll for pack size, you need to roll for magic/rare monsters, you need to roll for quantity, etc. The only time you actually make any money from maps is if you manage to grind to level 75+ maps where even the whites can sell as crafting bases, or if you manage to get that one in a quadrillion lucky drop that you can pawn off for multiple exalteds. Then again, many of these items are technically still available to lower level players too (Atramentis, Andvarius, Midnight Bargain, Le Heup, Dream Fragments, etc). The truth is simply that there is no way to reliable get "a lot of currency" in this game. You need to get lucky, know you've gotten lucky, and game the trading system. There's a huge disparity in items worth something and items that are vendored trash. |

I agree..
In D3 I found legendary Wizard Hats all the time, the PoE equivalent is Ezomyte Peak. I also found about 6 pair of Frostburn Gauntlets, PoE equivalent Wurm's Molt. I am really sick of finding no good gear in this game. Alot of the builds depend on certain uniques to become viable but if they are never going to drop, how am I ever going to get that far? 700+ chance orbs blown on Mesh Boots so far, still no Wake of Destruction. Been running maps for multiple days in a row (magic ones, since rares require godly gear which in turn never drop..) and guess what? Araku Tiki of course. That's the only thing that I found in a few days of playing and I gained about 1 level since the game is ridiculously hard unless you have the gear to faceroll. The rest were worthless rares that went to the vendor immediately. Meanwhile on the other side of the world, a random idiot just kills hillock for the first time and gets a mirror, he's lvl1 and has more currency than I will probably ever hold. 42 uniques now and counting, nothing over 2 gcp so far. I don't want to trade, I want to find the gear myself, which is exactly the same problem as D3 currently suffers from, the game is based around a trading system but in PoE's case, the trading system is complete balls. TL;DR: Who cares about the economy. It's about having fun. Increase the drop rates, or it's back to Torchlight 2 for me. Those guys got it right when it comes to drops. |

Yeah i agree i want a self found league with increased drop rates so much. Really really much

" You probably won't get that. Why? Because people fear you will reach 100 too fast, gear up to very good gear too fast, and leave the game because you saw it all, without purchasing anything. It's not about your fun, it's about money. " Yup, but you paid for the game... now, since Runic got their money, you can have your fun. placeholder for creative sig Last edited by Undon3#5633 on Apr 10, 2013, 4:52:39 PM

" What, really? To each his own, but drops are what turned me off in TL2. I had an inventory full of crap stuff to sort out every 5 minutes, and then there was all these rares/uniques which had a pile of meaningless stats making it so hard to figure out which one was better for me... I agree with the original post.
Personally, a part of me doesn't care if higher drop rates would ruin the economy, as I have no interest in taking part in that economy - I'd much rather find items myself than playing a trading simulator. Not saying that Godly, perfectly rolled 5L/6L should be falling from the sky on every skill - but there are too many factors - drop rates, currency, links, etc that the odds are stacked so far against you -- kinda sucks. Thankfully I enjoy the early/mid levels the most and don't mind rolling new builds. On the other hand, I really like my current build / character - and disappointing to feel like I'm starting to come into my own and COULD be loads of fun, only to be hit by grind-wall of discouragement.
