His idea, in short, is: "hey, let's be exactly like Diablo 2 when it comes to sockets, and exactly like FF7 when it comes to the sphere grid." I hate it. So no, not really; just his point #1, then throw out all the other bullshit points he came up with.
The trick is to have skill gems compete against jewels (which I guess would be better as runes). This gives players a meaningful choice; do I want to improve this skill, or do I want this passive bonus? That suggestion removes this competition.

PoE seems to have removed this reward and it now consists of killing mobs, getting orbs, sit on trade to get new gear.
although I completely agree with your entire post Jaknet, this line made me laugh.
getting what orbs?
oh wait! a shiny Orb Of Augmentation! thanks Merciless Gravicius!
now just 200 more times like this and maybe I can trade them for my very first Divine or Exalt :(
I'm level 65 running maps btw.
FML (f**k my luck).

Shadow: That was fun
True, sometimes it's really, really hard to get an upgrade, my staff duelist I levelled recently used level 24 staff until level 45. I play many characters in parallel so by any logic I should have a very nice gear selection for all of them at most level ranges, find a good ES robe while playing marauder, find a nice plate while playing wand shadow... but I don't.
And I might venture a guess at why not, too large of a mod pool, my fellow exiles. And the recent introduction of chaos resist or +1 to elemental gems on staves surely did nothing to help. It got really frickin hard getting a nice physical staff, and I mean nothing fancy, some damage, speed and leech and I'm happy, but no. And what's with +1 to melee or +1 to ranged gems when only a few attack gems show any palpable difference between two levels, stuff like explosive arrow or elemental hit.
I say trim the mod pool, throw out crap mods, out with useless returned damage, out with miniscule life on kill, out with flat life regen. And what's wrong with giving higher level items a higher chance to roll stronger mod versions, what am I to do with a +10% damage lion sword, I just hope I'm not expected to use it.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.
Trading for items should be entirely optional. The game should reward you for playing regularly and if you choose to trade great, if not well then an interesting drop is just around the corner. As it is now, it is starting to feel like the endless slog of grinding for no reward that D3 is, also because of trying to "balance" the in game economy. And this is a huge mistake.

People for the most part want to FIND or possibly craft their items, not trade a bunch of currency gathered from endless grinding.
Totally this. I don't enjoy trading. Nothing is as satisfying as finding or crafting a great item.
To me, crafting and currency drops just feel sub par. I understand that you can't make it too easy, but it just feels too balanced toward those serious gamers who spend hours and hours a day playing and trading. Some of us have jobs and families and are lucky to play a few hours in a week. When I get an alchemy, I want to use it during my progression, not hold on to it for two months waiting until/if I hit level 70. What a waste of a great drop.
Crafting is a big part of my enjoyment in games and I think PoE's system is great. I just wish I could enjoy it.

Some of those mods are useful for different builds however getting caster mods and physical mods together aren't useful for most people.

True that, genuine hybrids are dead as a dodo. And that's a shame, I love hybrids, the possibility of making a mage your best tank in Dragon Age made me giggle like a schoolgirl

Why are you running staffs (known hybrid mod pool), and then whining about the mod pool? There are weapons with a more limited mod pool that you desire. Use one of those, instead of ruining the mod pool because those happen to not work for the build are trying to force.

Because he's beta testing and trying to get something that should be viable to work.
Which is what you should be doing.

I do. Except I'm not bitching about the difficulties of doing those things, because I understand why certain things exist. If he wants to provide feedback on hybrids, theres much more constructive ways than saying, oh its hard, it doesn't work, scrap it. Rather, post why it doesn't work, whats lacking what could be done to make it viable. Also, hes not running a hybrid, hes just meleeing with an off weapon, because hes only stating that he can't get 2 melee mods, not a mix of the too.
