POE Heading to D3 Land...please reconsider

Here's the thing about the game. Eventually, you hit a wall. There's too big a disparity between people who get really lucky and have a lot of wealth and people who are trying to get there.

You eventually run into a wall, and you either just sit there and grind endlessly and hope you get lucky, or you can start new characters, many of which aren't even worth it because you don't have the resources to gear the new characters in the way you like.

That is precisely correct description imho. I have geared one character reasonably well, unfortunately he is melee and and effort to get orbs and gear him up was enourmous (it involved a lot of trading for 2 months). He is not the best and most optimal farmer and high lvl map drops are horrid.( i spent over 3 exalts on a few lvl 72 maps to roll them as high as I could - I got nothing good out of those maps, not even another map drop and dropped backed to 66-67 lvl maps)

He burned me out of desire to lvl a bunch of 60-70 chars further, because its simply insanely tedious gear and map wise

I been also very unlucky with "crafting" (500 fuses - 0 5links) - aka gambling and drops (nothing worth anything substantial ever dropped)

This is an assertion for which I have seen no evidence presented. I am rather dubious.

With my Ranger all through out Normal Act 1, Chance Orbs were literally dropping like candy from a pinata. I got a couple of Exalted too, which was startling. Maybe it's luck, but when I was running my Duelist the same thing happened.
Chris Wilson said in the PoE subreddit that the currency drops were weighted to drop a bit more in the earlier levels.

You can trade it for upgrading a piece of equipment (because let's face it, true endgame gear is not going to be much cheaper than 7-8 exalted per piece) or on your maps, but eventually you'll need to spend it on maps anyway.

A truly endgame 10+ exalted gear isn't needed for progressing or farming maps. It's a goal, not a requirement to reach a goal. I have lvl 74 melee and lvl 77 ranged chars, I spent 3 exalteds worth of orbs to gear each of then and they are feeling themselves fine soloing lvl 72 maps with 120 IIR.
Also these were my first 2 characters and I never played CB yet I was perfectly fine and didn't screw any build. This game does punish those who click on a passive tree without thinking and I really glad it does.

I do agree about a need of "Solo Self Found League" so ppl who prefer this type of gameplay feel comfortable doing so and not feel cheated by the game balanced around trading.

I don't understand this. There is nothing forcing a player in Default to trade with other players. Why can't you just turn chat off and play self-found normally?
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.
I always hear the argument that the economy gets screwed once drop rates are increased. Yes, there will be inflation, but who cares? If drop rates would be a lot better players wouldn't have to rely on trading and those bunch of players that want the ultimate gear have to play some more to get the currency they need for trading.......but they will also get more during normal play.

GGG is worried that players will reach endgame too soon, will get the ultimate gear too soon and delay these milestones by reducing the drop rate and the quality of the drops. The result is that a lot of players, the majority of the players that just want to have fun playing a game, hit a non rewarding grinding wall and quit the game.

I am also on the verge of quitting having 6 characters just over level 50 and hitting the wall with all of them. Haven't found an Exalted Orb in almost 3 months of play. Haven't seen a unique in the past 4 weeks and almost all the rares I find, if I get one that is, are crap. The only usefull rares I make myself by alching 4L whites. I also have the feeling that the fun level in CB was higher than in OB.

I think this 'self-found' league would have a higher drop rate for players who will NEVER trade. If I understood it right.

maybe it's because I play melee - which is notoriously gear-dependant in this game - but I had to trade, despite playing 90% of the game content solo from the start of Normal to the end of Merciless.

while the monsters seem to get stronger with every new area, and damage spikes inside areas (overpowered mob types, one-hit-kill rares) are common - your gear simply does not upgrade.
I've been running around with a crappy hammer from level 40 to level 58 because it had more sockets than everything that dropped. and I can count on one hand the amount of rare hammers which dropped with better stats (and less sockets/worse links) than my level ~40 bug-scratcher.
this is only one example, and believe me when I say there are many.
and I don't even want to talk about currency.
let's just say I have nothing to buy new maps with in case I run out, and very, very few ways to enchant the few white maps I do have.

so a solo player basically has 3 options right now:
either you constantly get extremely RNG-lucky - which can't happen. not for long.
you play a char and build with no dependency on gear - which limits your char options considerably.
or you trade. if you have the currency to trade, of course. and that's a huge "if".

Has anyone actually seen a monster with the wealth mod since OB? I've gotten at least 10 large chests, fought thousands of rares, not a single one with Wealth.
