Define "quit"?
Your "math" is based on the misconception that every player plays every day, which is wrong. Your assumption is also based on that the "missing" players won't come back, "they've quit" just because they're not playing the day you decided to check the numbers. Hell, even if the numbers tell you that there's a 90k peak two days in a row, we're clearly not talking about the exact same 90k players - and for all you know, there could be 180k players "still playing", even though they don't play every day. This is some next level stretch to spread some negativity. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" I mean sure, but let's not go down the road of retention being just "vanity metrics". It's been a problem, the worst in their history the past two leagues. So yes there is some hyperbole here, but there is definitely smoke in the room. If I skip 3.17 did I quit? If I played 3.16 for two weeks and didnt log back did I quit? I suppose the real point is that GGG cannot monetize players that dont play. There is a direct correlation(albeit internal) in how long a player plays to when they decide to spend money. Having people be interested in your game in record numbers is good. Having them leave quickly unsatisfied, without getting that $$$ is likely worse(from a cost and operating standpoint) "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt." - Abraham Lincoln Last edited by DarthSki44#6905 on Feb 11, 2022, 12:42:23 PM

I assume the big spike on launch day was due to the changes of the Atlas + Endgame bosses so lots of ppl of all leagues (including standard) took a nice look what its like.
Footage within one hour of league launch explaining new bosses is nothing special i guess with the spoilers we got already one+ week ago. The league mechanic itself is very simple and additionally locks you in place to interact with it interrupting the flow. It can be rewarding if stacking "touched" Nemesis modifiers but gets old fast and ppls are done with it. There might be some constructive points hidden in the cancerous whining, but nobody should even try to be charitable about it.

" Some? He's comparing the numbers of an end-of-the-week league launch, to a random workday, and assumes that every player not playing that day, has quit. I wonder if this guy knows what a "life" is, and how it all works. I don't really care about the numbers myself, because the content they've added here, is fucking great in every single way. And if this is the kind of quality they can push out "when dead" or "with critical low retention numbers" several leagues in a row (if we were to believe all these threads), I can't really find myself to be sceptic. So, again, if this is the kind of content we can expect from their current flow of income based on "dead leagues", it's enough for me. You jumping on this topic like a magnet, even though it's more than hyperbolic, doesn't really surprise me :) Didn't they mention that they reached a new record regarding concurrent players at launch day? Doesn't that count for anything? Do they have to keep playing every day, just in case someone was to check the numbers? Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile. From false assumptions one may derive anything they wish.

" Still basing numbers on the "goal" of every player playing league launch, will play every day? 'Most' players will be checking out the launch. 'Most' players will then spread their gaming time out a bit, I would assume. Anyhow, as I said; as long as they survive with these numbers, I don't care; they are pushing out quality. The numbers might be as "bad" as people are saying. Does it matter? Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile. Last edited by Phrazz#3529 on Feb 11, 2022, 1:21:18 PM
