HALF of playerbase has quit in 1 WEEK
I see those downsides mostly upsides. The game needs to be challenging.

Streamlining the atlas had me excited.
But knowing I'd need to level through the campaign yet again is enough to keep me away. The only leagues I've played the last year and a half are the endless delves, which is much more fun for leveling, and a few other endless events I didn't like at all. although they fixed heists for the last event but after I already quit. Chris has made it clear he won't change forced campaign leveling and believes POE2 campaign leveling won't feel as tedious. |

" "Lost Ark is quest runner, POE is a mobb smasher, they don't even play similar" He's effectively saying that the players who went to play Lost Arc instead of staying in Path of Exile, assuming that this is the case, will return because Path is a superior game because it's not a fetch-quest tedium. I think. Last edited by HellsW1ind#4897 on Feb 15, 2022, 12:25:02 PM

Not going to read 15 pages but to be honest I think GGG just needs to stop doing new leagues and bring back the little stones that allowed you to choose which league mechanic you wanted and just put all effort into POE 2.

" Those stones were incorporated as scarabs. And they need money to make PoE 2. League launches are how they make money. And no, Tencent didn't buy GGG just to pump their own money into it. Last edited by Exile009#1139 on Feb 15, 2022, 11:26:56 PM

"I am working irl, in game everything should be for free"

" No, you won't. If 5,000 people play, there are no servers, there is no game. Its sort of shocking that you "I am so hardcore, make everything so hard I am the only one left, Ill play forever" dont understand this concept. GGG does not make a game for YOU. They make a game to make money. If it does not have popular appeal, your like of the game does not matter. You dont matter to them. Is any of this controversial or surprising somehow.. I hope not. |

" They definitely didn't. However, there are telltale signs that Riot developers have had their hand in POE development and concepts since Tencent bought them, so it's not like there's no give and take. Every time Riot introduces a new champion, there's a new mob or skill added to POE that has similar features or looks, and it can be tracked going back to Incursion. That's likely the tradeoff that was made; access to talent, and longevity, in exchange for a royalty. But yeah. Tencent's not going to foot a $500 mil price tag for a subsidiary that only brings in $102 mil+ |

" I have to disagree. MOST Developers/Publishers do exactly what you say they do; try to profit and make money. GGG's been chugging this one product for what? 8-9 years now? Their revenue has never been massive, but neither have their costs. If GGG can get 5000 players to spend $60 every quarter on a supporter pack, that's $1.2 mil, or about 1/50th of POE's running costs per year. So, to operate, they just need about 250,000 $60 purchases, or fewer players paying about $200-$300. The post you responded to is obviously lowballing the needs to run the game, but it's worth pointing out that GGG's payment goals are FAR lower than any other modern game out there, and much more easily achievable. |
